Will there ever be...
..another DBZ fighting-game with like over 150 playable characteres/transformations?
Because it still astounds me that the Sparking-series had so many available characteres on the PS2, and the PS3-games after that not.
Also since the PS4 is waaay more powerful than the PS2 was back then, it could be achievable now to include even more characteres, right..?
Of course this isn't easy to pull off, because every fighter has to move/fight differently. But if Dimps or Spike Chunsoft (if they are still interested in the franchise lol) try really hard there's no way this could not happen.

Re: Will there ever be...
This always puzzled me, no matter how many new different directions the DBZ video games have gone I don't think BT3 can be topped for combat fun.
5v5 tag battles
In fight fusions and transformations (I'm surprised so many of the later games haven't had these)
150+ characters from across DB/Z/GT
Things like all of forms of main series villains (couldn't believe that Frieza and cell were shafted, super buu didn't have buutenks/buuhan in Xeno)
No majin Vegeta, lots of villains excluded.
I know people may say but there were 5 different versions of Goku that counted for 13 characters (I've excluded his fusions here) but it was great seeing an Early Z Goku form a mid and an End form representative of how his style has changed.
The gameplay was fun and felt most like DBZ with things like the Z counter (where you dodge a flurry of punches then counter) and launching enemies into the sky with keeping the combo going and dashing behind them while they're still like a rag doll really made it feel like you were watching DBZ

^So true
And i can't understand the people who say that the gameplay is uncreative or so.
Those people likely haven't really played the game serious (or learned all combos)

Well, PS4 or PS3 being more powerful have nothing to do with how many characters the game can have. Half the DVD of Sparking Meteor is empty, so they could have added everyone in that game if they had the time and were willing to do it.
In fact, the better the console, the harder it is to add characters since the 3D models are more complex.
Hopefully Xenoverse 2 will be as good as Sparking Meteor was. I didn't liked the gameplay in Xenoverse 1, but the first Sparking was really bad as well, so if they have refined the gameplay on XV2 and added more characters, it could be the next "Tenkaichi".

Among those 161 were variants such as early Goku, Mid Goku & Late Goku which in games like XV are one character and Ssj forms were counted as separate characters while in XV they're not.
Bandai said XV2 will be the most detailed DB game ever so I think it could end up having all the main ones from Z, the movies, GT & Super up to Black's arc.

July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

No. And I hope not. I'd rather DB game developers spend more time on developing the core concept of future Dragon Ball games that lasts for many years and has high replay value. I can live with roster that doesn't consist of over 150 characters. Sometimes, less is more.

But these changes in forms had completely different move sets. And handled differently.sintzu wrote:Among those 161 were variants such as early Goku, Mid Goku & Late Goku which in games like XV are one character and Ssj forms were counted as separate characters while in XV they're not.

And the whole less is more thing, may ring true if the gameplay is flawless. But there's been a lot of DBZ games with very shoddy gameplay and small rosters.
With a large roster players simply have more choice. You don't have to play as a particular character just because they are there.
