First half had some weird faces, second half was fine though. Next episode look interesting, only some of it looked like Yashima and the Yashima stuff looked mostly okay other than the noses.

They don't have an HD master for the Trunks special, so they need to do it from scratch.

I wish Shida was doing the flashback. Oh, well.

They've been open in most of her appearances in Super.

Sorry If I'm a little ignorant but what is the role of the 2nd key animator? I've seen the latest episodes had 2nd key animators but this one doesn't, and I think this episode looks better than some episodes that had a bunch of those.

I think this link sums it up pretty good.
Second key animation is a relatively new concept in anime. This person does what in the west is known as "cleanup" - cleaning up the rough genga before they're passed on to the animation director to be checked. This step permits key animators to pump out more animation than if they had to produce a more polished shot. For example, an animator who might be good at action can draw several complicated shots in rough form in the time it might take them to draw one polished shot. A nigen would then clean it up. Infrequently you will also see a daiichi genga 第一原画 or first key animation credit, which is presumably a way of distinguishing between the people who drew the rough key animation intended to be cleaned up by the daini genga crew and the people who drew regular key animation.

I hope whoever keep drawing Bulma with really far apart eyes doesn't work on the series again.

I don't understand why they draw Black so good and Goku so bad...

I'm curious about something in the NEP
Image
These remind me of Yashima before his style became what it is now, but

this looks just like Yashima's current style. I wonder who drew the first two.

I wonder when is otsuka ken going to show up for Super. He did say about a month ago that he was working on a Super episode. I am thinking #53, as it looks to have a fight in it.

He said he was scheduled to work on a Super episode, doesn't mean he was working on it at that time.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's working on Goku vs Zamasu in episode 53

This actually is pretty interesting. Looks to be yashima but the two shots looked to be more polished than the bottom one.

My episode 51 GIFs.
Really not a whole lot this episode, but the flashback with Black was really nicely storyboarded.

Futoshi Higashide really is the savior of Dragon Ball at the moment. He appears to work incredibly fast and to a pretty high standard; working near-sequentially on Super while also dipping into One Piece, Sailor Moon, and most recently, Precure.

Here's some of his work in #51. I can't decide whether the GIF above is him too, but it's likely. He was second credited KA next to Kitano, so he did a lot of work on this episode. Makes sense that they'd have the guy who draws perfectly on-model handle so many short or low-movement cuts.

The second one is interesting. He pretty much just handled the close-ups while someone else handled the action that follows it. That said, he does the dash at the end which contains one of my favourite stills in several episodes:

Those thick lines are Koudai Watanabe-esque. Love it.
