Was the hate for Kai largely unjustified?
Super Saiyan Prime wrote:It's an edited, cynically produced, cheap recut with a poorly utilized ancient score and awful scene recreations that later got traded in for a weird green tint.
The story of Kai's production is far more interesting than the actual product.

No, there hasn't.Nickolaus wrote:Has there been any confirmation these were the Big Green dubs?

How will the viewers there or people recording those movie airings be able to tell if it's the AB Groupe dub or not?

Because of what the actors sound like and the script used.bman78 wrote:How will the viewers there or people recording those movie airings be able to tell if it's the AB Groupe dub or not?

according to this page:
Does that mean that only this airing was the only fully uncut version of this movie with Eng Dub? Would it be that this upcomming airing again on Toonami will be the same? The UK airing of the film on Toonami (which was titled "Dragon Ball: The Legend of Shenron") was shown uncut and also featured the original Japanese opening, "Makafushigi Adventure!".

The Dragon Ball Wikia is a resource that most people on this site take with a grain of salt. That being said...
There are at least three english DB Movie 1 dubs that aired on TV (or probably aired on TV), Harmony Gold (US), Funimation/BLT (US) and AB Groupe/"Big Green" (UK). In addition, there is an uncut in-house Funimation dub that may or may not have aired on TV (no idea). I know for the fact that the Harmony Gold and Funi/BLT dubs are censored. As for the AB Groupe dub, I honestly have no idea whether it was censored or not. I heard a rumor that the French master for DB Movie 1 did have cuts...but I can't be certain if its true.

The other DB movies have also 3 airings? What about the episodes?
Re: Toonami Asia airing "Big Green" dubs of first 3 DB films
You know, that first clip almost sounds like it was working with a somewhat okay script, at least compared to other Big Green dubs. That second one, however, is definitely classic, unintelligible Big Green. Hilarious.TheBalishChannel wrote:These particular versions of the Dragon Ball films never saw an official release, and beyond a few short clips posted on YouTube, there is virtually no way to watch these films unless you were lucky enough to have recorded them back when they were originally broadcast on Toonami UK over a decade ago.

Now that the airings were on, I wonder if someone who recorded can upload clips so we can see if it's the Big Green dub or not.

Hopefully someone who recorded them will share a few clips, I'm really hoping someone who recorded these will upload a video showing how the BG dub of Movie 3 ends if these were in fact the BG dub.DrBriefsCat wrote:Did anyone record the movies? I'm most curious about the 2nd movie.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

It's borderline impossible to find someone with access to these South East Asian channels and a capture card.
