"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Honestly freeza should have stayed alive and fought for u7. Would've made the tournament more interesting. From then on it could go two ways. Beerus destroying him because he doesn't need him anymore (which would be cool and cement the fact that he isn't a good guy) or keep him around for some other role. Maybe he could be been the next God of destruction?
Disclaimer: I might get into a disagreement with you. Sometimes I might even get feisty about it. I'll never harbor negative feelings because of it though. I hope you feel the same way!Jinzoningen MULE wrote: Maybe I should start making it a point not to comment when I'm not sure of something. Too many people know what they're talking about around here.
I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

But they all had a power level of probably well under 10,000.Kagari wrote:We had this happen to an extent in Resurrection F though. The only difference is Goku/Vegeta showed up later on while the Z Fighters kept Freeza's army busy for a bit.
I do agree those two need to go off-screen for a bit if the other characters 1) won't get a power boost 2) to give characters like Piccolo and Krillin relevancy again.
Exactly my point; even Yamcha would be better than Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, Beerus, and Whis being the only relevant characters.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
There's so much they could've done with him but they didn't know what they wanted to do, it felt like they wanted to try something new but got scared at the last minute and changed everything up.kinisking wrote:Honestly freeza should have stayed alive.
The biggest indication of this is Toriyama's comment about wanting Vegeta to be the main character but obviously that didn't happen.
The 2nd is bringing back Freeza, I doubt he did that just to kill him off again so like Vegeta he probably had something bigger planned but changed his mind at the last minute.
The image I posted above is another example of this cause they told us it would have a different tone from before but they're too afraid to completely go with it so they're adding unnecessary scenes and gags to lighten it up like what they did with the image which looks very serious without those 5 being forced in it.
Toriyama and Toei remind me of WB, they have a successful film series in the dark trilogy but have no idea why it was successful so they're just throwing random ideas at the viewers and hoping they respond to something in the same way they did with TDKT and in Toei's case, BOG.

You bring up some pretty good points, sintzu. It's almost like you're a professional...
Figure like? How could that apply to Zamasu? Guess we'll have to wait to find out.

What's this obsession with seriousness?sintzu wrote:I'm not, I just hope Black sticks around to keep the tone a bit serious but I won't be surprised if he's killed off cause Toei are very afraid of a serious tone for some reason.Anime Kitten wrote:At this rate, I don't see any improvement in Goku's personality, so I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you.
If you don't believe me just look at this :
An epic image that depicts what was suppose to be a serious arc but it looks like someone at Toei saw it a few minutes before it aired and Photoshoped those 5 into it to distract the viewers from what it's really trying to be.
Didn't you stop to think that maybe what they want to do a mix of serious and humor?
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I share the same feeling.sintzu wrote:I also like Black more than Goku but that's due to Goku being written as a complete retarded idiot compared to the serious badass he was in Z.
RoF had no purpose at all, they had the opportunity of a cliffhanger in the end, like Freeza blowing Earth but staying alive and Goku, Vegeta couldn't use Namek DB to restore everything for some plot reason, but nah let's just end like the standard Toei Movies, the villain dies, Goku saves the day, the end.kinisking wrote:Honestly freeza should have stayed alive...
Think about how rich a story would be of Freeza not only getting stronger but expanding his army, recruiting even more powerful troops and claim over his reputation as emperor of the universe, many opportunities of stories that could be told, but seeing how RoF end like the way it did, just felt disappointing.

I'm very far from a professionalAnime Kitten wrote:You bring up some pretty good points, sintzu. It's almost like you're a professional...
Another thing I noticed is how the arcs don't connect at all, Super feels like random arcs put together rather then one story spread across multiple connected arcs which like RF could be due to them not being confident enough in what they're doing.
I could be wrong but if Black's arc doesn't lead into anything and we get another random arc that has nothing to do with everything else then I'll know there might be some truth to this prediction.

Well, hopefully Zamasu will add something valuable. I'd like to see him stick around afterward.
Call me crazy, but is it possible that Black could be reformed?

That's OK for side movies but this was meant to move the main plot foreword and it brought back a classic villain who could've done that and more but instead he was treated like a side villain.Noah wrote:Let's just end like the standard Toei Movies, the villain dies, Goku saves the day, the end.

Saying he wanted Vegeta to be the main character makes me believe he had a completely different story in mind, maybe one that didn't involve Freeza but for whatever reason he backed away from it.

They said it would have a different tone and it does. It's already much darker than it was, and it still has time to get even more seriousAnime Kitten wrote:Well, that's not exactly what they were advertising beforehand.Neo-Makaiōshin wrote:What's this obsession with seriousness?

It would've been possible back in the day or if this was a manga but his serious character would completely clash with Super's light hearted tone which it's already doing so I think he'll be 6ft under by the time it's over but hopefully I'm wrong.Anime Kitten wrote:Call me crazy, but is it possible that Black could be reformed?
It still cuts to unfunny gags anytime something serious happens which has been going on from day 1.kinisking wrote:They said it would have a different tone and it does. It's already much darker than it was, and it still has time to get even more serious

I think it'll depend on what Gokû Black's back story ends up being. Like if he's his own character and not just Zamasu in disguise, I'd say there's a possibility. If he is Zamasu though, I think what'll happen is that disguise will either vanish or be vanquished somehow in battle leaving only Zamasu himself behind.
On hiatus.

That's their choice and there's nothing wrong with it.sintzu wrote:It still cuts to unfunny gags anytime something serious happens which has been going on from day 1.
What Super needs to do is what it wants to do, not indulge in what fans think the show should be, which becomes obvious when they talk about F and just reveal whatever made-up stories they came up for it and didn't get.

The problem you have is that you never criticise anything and think everything is perfect in the whole franchise.alakazam^ wrote:That's their choice and there's nothing wrong with it.sintzu wrote:It still cuts to unfunny gags anytime something serious happens which has been going on from day 1.

People can criticise and have any opinion they like or there is no point of discussing all these different topics.

We can only hope things get changed up a bit this arc, if it goes on longer than 10-15 episodes... which I think it will. DB's problem since GT has been the complete shuttering of characters, which is a shame because DB as a whole has an amazing, diverse cast of characters that have become nothing more than background decorations.Anime Kitten wrote:But they all had a power level of probably well under 10,000.Kagari wrote:We had this happen to an extent in Resurrection F though. Which is kind of surprising coming from Toriyama himself. Hopefully Zeno's tournament will allow enough room for the neglected characters.Kagari wrote:We can only hope things get changed up a bit this arc, if it goes on longer than 10-15 episodes... which I think it will. Whis and Beerus don't exactly do anything and just hang around. Bulma does the technology and I am good with these 3 the way they are. It's just Goku and Vegeta, Goku needs to disappear like he used to in Z and Vegeta needs to do the same. Toriyama needs to make up bullshit power ups, have more villains and obstacles that requires more than just Goku and Vegeta.Kagari wrote:Anime Kitten wrote:But they all had a power level of probably well under 10,000.Kagari wrote:We had this happen to an extent in Resurrection F though. The tournament depends on how many participants for each universe, It should be 5 or the fans will end up rioting though.Anime Kitten wrote:Which is kind of surprising coming from Toriyama himself.
