Who actually wrote "Hope!!" on the Time Machine???

I recently watched the Trunks TV special and it definitely appears that Bulma wrote it on the side of the machine. However, after reading the manga, when the second machine is found, I was lead to believe that Trunks wrote "Hope!!" himself. So I look on Wikipedia...yea...and see that the Time Machine is actually named Hope?? What...please help.

According to the Viz manga, the only time the "HOPE!!" message is even acknowledged is when Trunks compares Cell's stolen time machine to his in Vol. 16 page 135 of the manga. Looking at the "HOPE!!" writing, Trunks says (in the Viz version) "Look here... I wrote this the day I left."

And as far as the time machine goes, it's never been referred to as Hope as far as I know.

I don't recall seeing Bulma write Hope in the HoT Movie. I'm gonna go with Viz.

I thought it was already there?

Seems logical if Trunks did it. He's going to the past in HOPE to save his future and such.

As far as the anime goes, no-one checks on Trunks' time machine until they found Cell's er... cocoon thing?

Problem is, in the Trunks Saga we don't get a good view of where it's acctually written.

I'm pretty sure in the dub of the anime, Trunks states Bulma wrote it; Trunks-to-Bulma: "You wrote it just before I came here from the future". Regarding the Japanese version of the anime, not certain, though maybe it was changed from Trunks to Bulma in there too. Ain't the first time the anime's branched off from the manga (Trunks first going SSJ, Kargo's death, set of Namekian fingers, etc.).

I had always just assumed that Bulma wrote it.

Makes sense too, I mean Bulma is sending her only child in an untested time machine, to try and save the future.

To me it also seems like Bulma is more likely the one to do that sort of thing. But maybe that's just because I saw it in the english dub and am more used to that story.

Yeah, I remember it in the Dub. But Viz says tnat Trunks wrote it.

I dont believe they actually show anyone writing it in the TV Special. But in the dub version, its implyed that Bulma did.

Nuh-uh, Trunks says in both the dub and sub that Bulma wrote it. I'm personally more inclined to believe it was her. She does seem more the type.

I always thought Bulma wrote it. I don't have any evidence of her writing it but I always just assumed she wrote it....

Hmm, I wonder what it would be like if Cell wrote it...

According to my Japanese graphic novel of the book, it's kind of "assumed" to be Trunks.

「い．．．いえ、あなたは未来でタイムマシンをたった一機しか作らなかった．．．こいつもオレの乗ってきたタイムマシンそのものなんです．．．これを見てください．．．オレが出発の時に書いた『希望』という文字です．．．」

"N-No, you only constructed one time machine in the future......This is also the very time machine I came in on...Look at this, if you will, his is the word 'hope' that was written when I set off..."

Of course, the anime could have just added a bit about Bulma writting it in there. Can anyone take a subtitle cap from the DVD?
