Well they are already different enough, and Goku's hair has always looked like that in Super. When Black won't be around, it will continue to look bad.
They just need to eliminate every sort of shading/lighting effect on character's hair. It's also easier for them to animate hair when there is no shading.

I think you're getting a bit overly upset over this.Noah wrote:No. Only Kamehameha as you said and Big Bang Attack, but Masenko, Burning Attack and Makankosappo are all different colors, also not only their beams are the same color but its shape too! F****** hate this.
They're all the appropriate colours to begin with before merging into blue for the sake of the combined finale. The shapes are just a stylistic choice by Shida -- the ones that matter like the Mankankosappo are just fine.
Neither the original nor the remake are any good, but there's nothing to complain about in that scene.

I am pretty sure at this point that Shida was talking about working in new animation for additional scenes in ROF. I would not be surprised if otsuka ken is also working there. Here I was thinking they would work on show.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #52]
If I'm not wrong, Ootsuka confirmed he will be working in DBS. In the other hand, Shida said he was working in DB, he wasn't specific.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #52]
I don't have a problem with the most basic parts of Yamamuro's current designs and in the right hands they look pretty good, like episodes 13, 44, and 47 or the Jump Special. My main beef is a series of minor quibbles that pile up into a mess. The nonsenical shading, the oversimplification of all of the details around the eyes, whatever the fuck those noses are supposed to be, the roundness in the wrong areas, etc etc. A little more care and attention to detail would go a long way.

Episode 44 was a perfect balance between on model and fluidness. It wasn't very fluid but wasn't stiff either, but it was pretty much on model. Not DBZ Movie 12 on model, but enough for me to enjoy an entire episode without me cringing or feeling awkward not even once, which is sooo rare in Super. I don't know if the schedule was better for that episode, but if every episode looked like that, i would be so happy.
Between episode 44 and episode 14, should be the standard Super should be aiming to with its hellish schedule. 44 being the version on model sacrificing a little bit of fluidity, and 14 being the incredibly fluid and awesome animation version but sacrificing a little bit of "on model"ness. What pisses me off in Super is that some episodes do neither. Some episodes are off model and stiff as FUCK!!

I'm now worried that Shida is actually not working on Super and did something for the new Trunks stuff that they are doing for the F movie.
Adding 12 minutes of footage to the F movie seems like a waste of resources...

Me too, can't believe the last thing he did for Super was on episode 7.ArchedThunder wrote:I'm now worried that Shida is actually not working on Super and did something for the new Trunks stuff that they are doing for the F movie.
Maybe he decided not to work on Super or something like that? If he was the one making the last part of episode 39 it would have been great.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #52]
Actually, he storyboarded episode 22 of Super before going off and doing some One Piece and Sailor Moon work.Alee9977 wrote:Me too, can't believe the last thing he did for Super was on episode 7.

After that, he began working on One Piece Film Gold and the Heart of Gold special.
Shida's a notoriously slow animator, and he did a lot of work on the latest film, so I'm not too surprised he kinda dropped off the earth to finish his work there.

If what Shida is working on is something for the new footage in F I hope he still does some work on Super in the near future...
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #52]
Me too, but not storyboarding again, maybe a key animator or animation supervisor.

Yeah, I'm really hoping he contributes to Super, but in all honestly, this franchise so desperately needs more talent like him in any capacity. So I'll take whatever he gives in any way.ArchedThunder wrote:I'm now worried that Shida is actually not working on Super and did something for the new Trunks stuff that they are doing for the F movie.

From what I understand, Shida has supervised less than 10 episodes across a bunch of anime. He's very much a person who wants to stick with animating over any sort of directorial/supervision role.
If he pops up on Super, it'll almost certainly be in a storyboard or key animator position. Hopefully the latter!

Damn, it's a shame, but I want at least one scene from him in this arc, he's such a talented animator.
Now that I researched a little, Shida storyboarded episodes 2, 7, 11, 18 and 22 actually. I hope it doesn't keep this way an becomes a key animator anytime.

I'm probably overeacting about it as you said, oh well... I still think that the original was more vivid.

I can live in DBS without Shida. Talent doesnt mean jack squat when your schedule is as messed up as Super's. Again my wish is that Toei would just subcontract another studio to handle a 1 cour arc while they get their shit together. And by that i mean, fix the schedule and move Yamamuro somewhere else. I dont mind him being an Animation director for the show, but as head honcho for character design I've come to despise him and his nonsense with the character designs. I mentioned a couple of Pages back that the character designs dont animate well? well, yeah they dont. A more compitent Character designer would be nice.
Frankly DB super could benefit from some new blood. I understand it's an old series but frankly, new blood would be refreshing.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #52]
Tadayoshi Yamamuro isn't going anywhere, not with his years of experience with the franchise. He's a top dog at Toei Animation, along with all the higher-ups.
Sub-contracting a cour of Super to another studio would complicate the matters on the hands. All the parties involved would have to agree together. It isn't impossible, mind you, but it would require a lot of people to make the schedule work better.
If they indeed agree to sub-contract an entirely batch of episodes to a different studio, I would prefer for a studio to handle two cours. That would last you for six months, meaning Toei would have six months to pull together and go from there.
