Will super get announced today at SDCC

Post by rs_chaosmaster » Thu Jul 21, 2016 1:24 am

Anyone think Dragon Ball Super gets announced at SDCC tonight? If they have it already this would be by far the best place to announce it at! If they don't have it yet then I think Otakon or NYCC would be the next best choices.

IF they're going to announce anything it'll probably be Kai's Buu arc cause that's what will air first for nearly a year and a half.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

You are automatically assuming that Super would be on Toonami which i question whether this would be the case. I would not be surprised if it was on just normal cartoon network during the weekdays Monday - Friday as Toei might not want the tv deal to be just a weekend day once every week. I also think that Toei/Funi/CN will want Super to get the best ratings possible and late night Toonami may not be the best route.

That's because it's currently the only channel that has the rights to it.

They probably would cause if it was on 5 days a week it would catch up to Japan in less than 3 months which is something they probably don't want.

I agree that late night isn't a good idea so if they're smart thay'll have it air on Saturday mornings somewhere.

Saturday mornings wouldn't be a good time either do a primetime slot on CN 8pm either during the weekdays or this time during the weekend

Toonami is likely the only people on TV that would get the rights to Super. Nick Toons had Kai because Adult Swim at the time didn't want it. It was not until Nick Toons and CW had the show when they wanted it for Toonami in 2012 and 2013. Toei views Super as a sequel to Kai, it's possible that they want Kai to end on Toonami first before airing Super.

As someone mentioned previously on the forum if they have it they would have likely announce it on social media then get convention hype going from that. So doubt we'll hear anything today.

At this point I would expect them to say something at Otakon if it's happening.

Doubt it. If anything is going to get announce Dragon Ball related at SDCC, it would have to be Kai 2.0/Buu Kai.
