I think so too. They were created with the new designs in mind, so of course that looks better, but they work just fine with the old ones too. It's like when it was revealed that Goku and Vegeta will use the regular SSJ transformation in the U6 tournament and people said they look like shit with the new outfits... I didn't see it there either. The only time I thought SSB looked bad was on Copy-Vegeta, but that was record levels of shit.

Also I just realized Onishi isn't actually credited as having done any animation on any of his episodes, that's really strange.
He was a key animator on the JSAT special, Z movies 6,7,8,9, and Path to Power. He also animated parts of the second half of the original Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans.
Huh, interesting.
I wonder why he isn't credited as doing any animation in Super, it seems weird to me that Toei would put a regular Supervisor on this show that doesn't animate. For big 3+ supervisor episodes I get it, but for regular 2 supervisor episodes it just seems strange to me.

The parts of the episodes that he supervises always look very consistent -- as if drawn all by one person. I get the feeling he's a very heavy-handed supervisor who full on redraws cuts that don't fit his style.

It happened fairly often in Z. Yamamuro was an uncredited supervisor for episode #229 of Z, and I think his level of corrections are similar to what Onishi does on Super:

He probably doesn't have time or prefers not to try and animate if he can spend all of his time ensuring what's given to him looks good.

I wonder who will come first, Onishi or Tate, or maybe they are working on their next episode together.

Also you still have that error in the OP that says that Manabe worked on 49 when it was 39.

If I had to guess, I would say that either tate is working on #54 with shimanuki or like last time he getting 9 weeks which would mean he is working on #55. If #55 then there is a good chance he gets to work with Onishi.

I feel like Tate will be 55 or 56, whichever is more important. I'll be more willing to make my guess when we get the episode titles in a day or so.

I have a foot behind with Masahiro before the animation interval between an episode and the other was 6 episode, he has worked in 48, 50 and now 54
I hope that surprised me

Huh, did you point this out before? I had no idea there was even an error there. I must have missed the message, if so!

Thank you~

Should we expect a Yamamuro episode in this arc? I have the feeling he will be doing one of the most important episodes if he is going to work in this arc.

Probably not, especially if he is going to be overseeing the additions to Fukkatsu no F.

If Yamamuro were to just leave Shida to do his own thing, could he help Super out by getting a serviceable episode out himself? He should realize that this would be a pretty good opportunity to help out Supers toxic schedule.

Exactly my thoughts. I think it's the blue that clashes too much with the hair. And I thought Super Saiyan looked amazing on the F outfits.

Thanks to Pekindaq on Twitter, we now have significantly better photos of Yamamuro's character designs for Goku Black and Zamasu.

I took the liberty of cleaning them up and translating what I could:

Quite looking forward to seeing what Ishikawa does with Zamasu tonight in full, though I'm pretty worried about the action. It didn't exactly look the best.

The little bit of action we saw in the NEP looked mostly fine to me, nothing special or even great, but fine. As for art this is the only shot that was on screen for any real amount of time that looks off to me.

If they just touch up Goku's face and hair (which wouldn't be a first) it'd be good enough for what it is I think. Hopefully we get a short cut from Higashide.
I will say the fact that all of what we saw in the NEP for the fight having that colored speed background is really annoying.

Looking back we all know that the that the first two times we had a week off it didn't seem to help things (The first break was followed by Episode 4 which was nice, but we all know the following episode, and then the second being 26 coming right after a break), but honestly it didn't really seem like Toei cared all that much about the schedule for the first two arcs. Our third break had the next episode being 35, which while it didn't have anything in the way of notable animation it was almost entirely on model and the tournament from that point on was pretty solid. Hopefully now that it at least seems like Toei is trying to improve the show they used this one week for something, even if that something was having the animators on today's episode finish the episode as if there was no break and then start work on their next episode, essentially giving it an extra week. With how many people work exclusively or near exclusively on Dragon Ball Super now it would make sense to actually use this extra week for something.
Keep in mind when I say "I hope" I don't mean "I expect", I just like to be a positive person and hope for the best, as has probably been pretty apparent from my posts in this thread.

In that shot, there are more things that look off in that shot, for example, Zamasu's hair, hand, and also position, it isn't very detailed, also we have Goku's hair that isn't detailed either, Goku's arms and that speed background is horrible.
If they showed us this in Preview, I can't imagine what we are going to see in the full chapter, that free week maybe wasn't useful for this episode but I can be for the next ones, so I don't expect a lot of changes in the chapter, I am also a little worried not only for the action scenes, but also for the entire episode.

All I said is that fixing Goku's hair and face would make it "good enough" for what it is. If it's in the episode for about as long as the NEP(as in not very long) then fixing the face and hair will be enough.

Art quality aside, the actual animation (or lack thereof) was pretty shocking. I'm hoping it was just unfinished, but I recognise that style from somewhere, and I don't remember it being any good.

Will be interesting to see whether it actually moves any better tonight or whether Ishikawa applied any corrections. I'm thinking probably not, but then I try not to put my expectations too high.

Obviously it's only 10 seconds, so there's always the possibility the better stuff is being kept secret. That'd be nice!

Wow this looks worse than I first thought it did. The only thing I like was the shot where goku was in ssj2 with lightning.

I'm excited to see Ishikawa's art, but I'm disappointed that his animation isn't great. We'll find out tonight if it's improved, I suppose.
