Zamasu Appreciation Thread

Post by Black_Liger » Wed Aug 03, 2016 4:58 am

Zamasu is quite literally the best thing ever to come from Super, he's just one episode in and he already has more depth to him than the typical "Strong evil guy comes in, he is evil because... well he's evil, needs to be stopped" we almost always had on dragon ball. anyways, I'm gonna make a list of why he's so awesome.

1: He is NOT presented as a villain.

Every villain in db has been presented as such, even if they change sides later, when Zamasu is introduced he is still thinking and rationalizing about mortals, how they don't deserve to be protected (Not killed) but later he meets Goku and that quick starts his motives, now mortals are dangerous, and even now he might still not be hellbent on destroying them as he only said "I won't forget it"

2: The Tea stuff with Gowasu and Zamasu was amazing, it was chilling when the water distorted itself every time Zamasu's calm heart changed it's thoughts.

3: He has a motive to be evil.

Let's admit it, not many db villains have a good reason to be evil, which is not bad, but this helps make Zamasu stand out even more due to the fact that you can't really disagree with his motives, mortals are dangerous, they commit crimes just for the sake of it, they don't preserve the peace and the beauty of the universe, hell, we just have to remember that Majin buu arc would have ended nicely if not for the crimes of Van Zant, a normal, powerless human mortal. Because of him, the universe and other world was almost destroyed!.

4: He brings respect for the supreme kais.

universe 7 supreme kais kai' suck so much compared to him it's not even funny.

5: In the very same episode Zamasu was introduced, Pilaf was bitchslapped. That was Glorious.

That is all!.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. I'm still wondering what this represents for him and his story in the opening:

All the mistery surrounding this character makes him one of the most interesting things that DB universe had recently.

Zamasu looks quite promising now.
Personally I consider every villain in Super waaaaaaaay better than the ones we got in Z.
Beerus is the first bad/good guy.
Freeza wasn't that bad since he already was a good villain.
Zamasu is also an interesting case.

The villain choices move from mortal beings to Gods and I hope that they can go even further. We still haven't seen a Makaioshin or Demons in general that can rival Beerus

Way too soon to make this type of thread, we had one episode of the character. Remember Cell? He was great, at the start... :(

We should avoid jumping the gun, either with good or bad conclusions. With this said, I agree with some of your points. There's potential and what we've seen so far has been positive. I can imagine different roads where the character can be further developed and others where he stagnates and becomes generic.

Time will tell.

I gotta side with LightBing. It's still far too early to come to an assessment that this character should be "appreciated". Toei/Toriyama could end up royally fumbling this character, just like they have with, well, many characters in the franchise. Of course, I pray that doesn't happen.

Too soon man.
I am loving Goku Black for example, but I still won't let the hype take the best of me because the writing can still disappoint me.

But he's already the most interesting Kaioshin I will give yout that. Even though it's not hard, since I find all the Kaioshin characters prior to him lame. :P

My favorite DBZ villians in this order

1.- Freezer, for me the best dragon ball Saga
2.- Cell, he was insane smart and cool
3.- Vegeta in first DBZ saga i liked his arrogance
4.- Black goku.
4.- The android 17/18 specially 18, even if i found they a bit silly
5.- Zamasu.
6.- Majin boo saga, only dabura was acceptable, i think majin boo was the worse villian until now :_:

In Majin boo saga i would love a lot if Dabura, Majin Vegeta, Babidi and Majin boo worked togheter for destroy the universe.

My Fix to majin boo Saga.

Piccolo, Goten, Trunks, N18 all work togheter to defeat Dabura SSJ2 power levels, if they dont he will turn in rock all the humans. Goku and Vegeta are busy fighting and Gohan its with Kaoshin.

Majin Vegeta vs Goku SSJ2 fight. Vegeta wins as the original saga. Then later in the SAGA Majin Vegeta SSJ3 vs Goku SSJ3 in a more epic and monster Fight. None of they should win cuz Babidi would send Kid - Boo kill both.

Kid - Boo defeat weakend SSJ3 goku and weakend SSJ3 majin-vegeta. Mystic gohan appear and have a intense fight vs Kid Boo. Boo see he can't defeat mystic gohan and he absorb him. Then the "Fusion" Saga start, with Buuhan as main villain.

The impression I get from this part of the OP is that he's betrayed.

^I think what they meant in that shot is that he succumbs to his hatred for mortals and falls in darkness.
No idea what the egg behind means though.

And Uni6 Kaioshins were just in the previous arc to see the tournament. Zamasu wins by default.

Actually now that I think about it, I used to think that thing he's in was a time travel device, but what if he sacrifices his own life to create Black to wipe out humanity? Since he probably doesn't have the power to do it himself, especially with someone like Goku around.

I've seen this thing in other stories where someone will kill themselves so their lifeforce can be transferred to something else. Maybe - and this is a longshot - he retrieves and reforms Goku's body, and then has to kill himself to transfer his consciousness to it with some Kaioshin magic? He needs Goku's body to be strong enough to defeat all mortals.

We rarely know anything about him yet, so I can't appreciate him that much. It's way too early to be doing this man, I gotta agree with the others on here.

I still cannot fathom why Piccolo forfeited that match against the Supreme Kai of Universe 7. I mean they introduced these Kaioshins in the Buu saga as these all important beings, and they turned out to be fodder. To this day I facepalm and shake my head in disappointment whenever I'm reminded of it.

Yeah, they make it clear in Super that Zamasu being a good fighter was something to be surprised about, and SHin proves to be pretty shit compared to the Z warriors.
When Super apparently shoves Goku down our throats:

It was because of his Kami side.
If you pay attention to that scene Piccolo was trying to power up but he couldn't, I guess because Kami didn't let him.

Kaioshins are above Kami in the Gods hierarchy. What made Piccolo give up was not fear, but respect from his Kami side.
Piccolo was shocked because he definitely wasn't expecting to meet such entity on what seemed to be just a normal tournament.

It's actually an interesting scene that gives some depth to Piccolo's character.

If Piccolo wasn't fused with Kami, he wouldn't back down.
