Yeah, that's definitely a fair comment for the most part.

Outside of some of their movies and a few select shows, Toei do often seem quite far behind the curve on utilising the technologies available today.

I'm not asking for Ufotable's filter-filled orgy of effects, but better lighting would go a long way in helping the series.

I mean, look at this week's episode. Rather than creating a unique feel to the Universe 10 Kaioshin realm, they simply bumped up the brightness.

The filters used for the Ultimate Tenkaichi's intro were quite great:

It would be nice to have something similar for Super.

What exactly do you mean by "filters"?

All the additional effects added to the footage to give a certain atmosphere. Here it's mostly colour gradation so it doesn't look flat.

Oh, then yes, that would be awesome to have in Super, although I don't have many problems with the current animation (just the art sometimes).

I'm still surprised they did that opening so well. Seriously, that's some of the best animation to come out of any 2D animated Dragon Ball. About Super though, yeah it did seem pretty lazy for them to just turn up the brightness. You guys know what I'd like to see make a come back? The pencil-y auras. I know it sounds weird but I'm talking about those auras that used to look like they had pencil jags to em and they looked really detailed like they were done with a pencil sort of. Here's an example of what I mean.

-FT Trunks arc fights-

Well I can't stop rewatching Goku vs Zamasu. I find the choreography to be really good and that new Sumitomo soundtrack, it's such a gem.
A great soundtrack playing on the background makes all the difference for me to enjoy something.

It's funny because what was supposed to best fight of this arc so far, Goku vs Black, turn out to be the worst one (excluding Goku vs FT Trunks which was just a test).
It has some ok stuff but nothing mind blowing that makes wanna rewatch it often.

On other hand, FT Trunks vs Black and Goku vs Zamasu fights have me addicted.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I am wondering when we are finally going to see otsuka ken. He said he was working on Super almost about 2 months ago.

I'm pretty sure it'll be Tate's episode. It seems Tate is going to be getting more time than the other supervisors, so it would only make sense for Toei to focus a lot of the talent on his episodes.

Which makes me wonder how bad Super schedule is nowadays.
Did Ken explicitly said he was working on DBS? It could be a misunderstanding and he's working on new footage from ROF Movie.

I know Shida was pretty vague. Yamamuro is most likely there.

Otuska said Super, but he said he was "scheduled to work on" an episode, not that he was already working on it. Who knows when he started work on it, or if he even has yet.

Apparently if you play with the url of Fuji tv website enough, you can find image from the next episode. Dont ask me how its done, because I dont know.

I think you do it by replacing the following:

fujitv.co.jp/bangumi/photo/YEARMONTHDAYdragonball-superXXX.jpg

For example, the current one is:

Code: Select all

http://www.fujitv.co.jp/bangumi/photo/160807dragonball-super118.jpg
Image

Myself and EmmaWinters tried working it out recently, but had no luck.

She created a script that would take the date of the episode and then run through 000 to 999 for the end of the URL, but it didn't bring up any results.

Not entirely sure if we missed something or there simply wasn't anything there at the time, but yeah. That's the gist of it, I think.

Looks like they changed something, because no one leaked it either. It would be interesting to see what the actual url is of #55.
