Image Songs

Could someone explain me what is an image song? How much are there?
What's the difference between an image song and a theme song?

Being totally rough here ('cuz it doesn't apply to every CD), but let's assume there are 18 normal Hit Collection CDs (we'll ignore 8 1/2 & 18 1/2, the two remix CDs). Let's assume 10 tracks per CD. Let's assume, at best, there are FOUR (if not only three) real songs per CD (OP, ED, insert or movie theme).

Do the math

Ok I'll ask another thing: the song Hikari Will No Power is a image song or a theme song or what?

That's a tricky one. It was originally used, as an instrumental, in video games as Future Trunks' theme (see Ultimate Battle 22 [as "TRUNKS" on the OST] and Final Bout [not on the OST, but in the game]). It was so popular that vocals were given to the song, and it had a release on a few CDs with Hironobu Kageyama doing those vocals.

So it's not really an image song... it has a specific thing it's tied to (Future Trunks), but it's not exactly from the TV series or movies, and it's not a major opening or ending theme to a video game...

That's very interesting, since I always wondered if Hikari No Willpower was in the GT series or not.
