Are Goten and Trunks ever going to get older?
Are Goten and Trunks ever going to get older?
So far, we haven't seen any growth for either Goten or Trunks in Super. Even when we've already seen the latter in the future timeline at the same age he is now and he's a teen there. My question is, will we ever see them mature and grow into teenagers?

It's anyone's guess. IDK if they're ignoring the end of Z, or if they'll be a timeskip or if they'll make em grow, because I think they wanna keep em looking as they did in the buu saga as long as they can. Heckthey even reverse bulma's aging.

Goten? Who is that??
Re: Are Goten and Trunks ever going to get older?
They won't until the production staff wants to. They have no need to do so right now.Bansho64 wrote:So far, we haven't seen any growth for either Goten or Trunks in Super. Besides, Trunks and Goten weren't exactly any different as teenagers in the comic, as it is.
Re: Are Goten and Trunks ever going to get older?
We never saw Goten as early teenager, so we don't know how much tall he can be, but we do see Trunks.

Gohan's existence debunks this, at least in the case of half-saiyans. Also, there's Future Trunks, who grew normally, unlike his counterpart.Patrolman Jaco wrote:Sure.

They're height is as stagnant as a non saiyan's power level.... after the cell games aka they're staying short forever.
Re: Are Goten and Trunks ever going to get older?
Better question is if they'll ever be used meaningfully, which the answer seems to be no. Goten is missing entirely and Trunks is just part of a Pilaf gag rather then doing anything significant. The fears of Future Trunks essentially being the good Trunks seem to be the case.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Re: Are Goten and Trunks ever going to get older?
Will Marron get older? Will Pan get older? Will Bulla show up? Who knows. The questions are all related to the same thing: Timeskips. The Dragon Ball series is usually very clear on its timeskips, but in Super the only real case of that is between Battle of Gods and Resurrection F, where it's very easy to see that time has passed. The inter-universal tournament and the Trunks arc are much less clear, especially when you take the manga into account. They can attempt to stay in the current time window for as long as they want, but eventually, no matter what, they will force themselves into moving on from the Age 779-780 point in the timeline. When that happens, they'll have to answer to all these questions, including yours, with a 'yes', or things will begin to get screwed up.
Dealing with the five characters in the "EoZ generation" will have varying difficulty here. Retconning Bulla out of existence is the easiest one. fuck you if you do that Toei/Toriyama Letting Pan continue to be a baby for a while isn't a big deal either. The other three are more difficult to deal with. We know how Trunks is supposed to look in 780. It's Future Trunks, yes, but Present Trunks isn't exactly very different. It also stands to reason, because of Gohan's aging process, that Goten should grow up gradually. Genetics, though...
Moving on, and this is the worst one, Marron is going to begin seeming retarded. I don't mean that as an insult, I mean actually mentally handicapped. She's been fed like she's a baby when she's supposed to be 5-7 years old. You don't really do that to someone at that age unless there is a problem. This is what I'm referring to when I say that things will begin to get screwed up. EoZ Marron is a normal 11-year old girl, and you can't just grow mental handicap like that away. Marron is in desperate need of some growth.
We're at the very end of the window of time where the current character designs for the kids are acceptable. If a timeskip happens now and they don't grow up, the only real solution is that time hasn't actually passed after all, which means Super is somehow happening all at once and we're stuck in some sort of time paradox.
TL;DR: The answer is either "yes" or "no because Super is stuck in a weird dimension of time where nothing actually changes".
Feel free to correct or shoot down my rambling.

Not really, we didn't follow Gohan's growth. We saw Gohan at the end of the Artificial Human arc fairly short, then timeskip to after his growth spurt at 16 years old. We saw even less with Future Trunks we didn't even see him before his growth spurt.fadeddreams5 wrote:Actually, we did.Grimlock wrote:We never saw Goten as early teenager, so we don't know how much tall he can be, but we do see Trunks.

Before entering the ROSAT, Gohan was shorter. When he exited, he was taller and 9-11 years old IIRC. In contrast, Kid Goku was older when he was introduced, and practically half his size.Patrolman Jaco wrote:Not really, we didn't follow Gohan's growth. Everyone grows substantially between the ages of 9 and 16.

I really wanted to see Future Trunks' reaction with Goten. But I guess that's not happening.dbzfan7 wrote:Better question is if they'll ever be used meaningfully, which the answer seems to be no. I hope so. I also want to see a grown-up Marron (specifically with her GT design).

Doesn't look that much shorter to me, unless you're talking about his SS form which appears to make him look taller.fadeddreams5 wrote: Before entering the ROSAT, Gohan was shorter.
Goku was only 12 years old at the start of the series, so not that much older than Gohan at the end of the Artificial Human arc.
Besides, isn't Gohan taller than Goku currently? So he might just be naturally taller than his dad. Maybe he has Ox-King to thank for that.
For Saiyans it appears they only get minimal growth during childhood, then once they reach adulthood they grow substantially. We don't know when the exact period of that growth spurt is since there is always a timeskip invoked whenever it happens.

Don't saiyans age very fast after some point in order to mess with their enemies?

When Gohan exits the ROSAT (i.e. Cell Games Gohan), he's taller than when he's training inside it, such as in that scan you posted. Physically, he's 9 or 11, yet looks older than Kid Goku, Goten, and Kid Trunks.Patrolman Jaco wrote:Doesn't look that much shorter to me, unless you're talking about his SS form which appears to make him look taller.

Barely any difference. Like I said before his SS form appears to make him look taller and muscular. But without it, he doesn't look older than Goten, and Kid Trunks.Patrolman Jaco wrote:

Not unless the demand for merchandise based on them as maturing teenagers or young adults increases exponentially.
