Especially since Whis stated in the anime, how altering the past could affect the future. (But if it would create alternative universes anyways, then what would be the problem of doing so?)

But then the next panels completely evaded any answer to this question and instead, Whis talked about the "cooldown time" on this technique... this was a bit disappointing to me.
Yeah, that's my only issue with this chapter too.
I thought he said that he basically reversed time and thus didn't create a new parallel world?
Yes, I didn't get that right at first.

-Chapter 14-
Love it.
This chapter cover page together with Volume 1 cover is the most beautiful thing that came from the manga so far.

Two things that I wish the anime had:

- The parallel worlds explanation was more than welcome and the way Toyotaro delivered it was genius.

- I love the little of detail on this page:
Image
A page of a journal talking about how peace had returned and Trunks steps on it, because it's over once again.
The fact that Toyotato broke the 4th wall and put "30th Anniversary" on it, just makes me love it even more.
I love stuff like this!

On other hand, i didn't like how Bulma's death happened off-screen. Something big like this must always be shown.
As for the rest, both versions did great.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

How can you see it says 30th? It's intentionally ripped, so we don't have a proper idea of when it actually takes place.

Cell was killed in AGE 788. The current anime material in Trunks' timeline is probably set in AGE 797...we think. Maybe. Nothing official has been stated, it's all deduction from trying to work out an appropriate progression of events for Super in the main timeline and adding 17 years to it. (The manga doesn't have to follow the anime's timeline since it doesn't cover some of the controversial events that force wider gaps than necessary, but they are probably intended to be the same until otherwise stated.)

If this is accurate, it should be that 9 years have passed.
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.

I knew there was something about this that wasn't entirely clear. Something was holding me back from answering nine straight out. I guess there's a minimal possibility for eight or ten, since nothing's been stated, after all.

That little newspaper might have been fun if we had any indication for what age were in. As it stands it's just cruel. We're more than a year into Super and nothing regarding dates. Vagueness after vagueness.
It's not serious to me yet, give it an arc or two more and I'll start questioning when's the next Tenkaichi Budokai. Or sooner like some people already wondered, where the hell is Bra?!

I'm predicting it will turn into a mess, the writers aren't caring about it -"We'll solve it later, we got time". Until they can't avoid it without plot holes. Mr.Toriyama doesn't exactly inspire confidence regarding dates, but he always gave us a "seven years after x" type of information.

I think the only other reason Future Trunks is even back is just to give Bulma the idea of letting Trunks have a sibling. This is kinda like what they did with Movie 13 when Trunks had Tapion who was basically an alien version of Future Trunks, but now with Dragon Ball Super they actually have a reason to bring back Future Trunks for him to meet little Trunks, Goten, and the others again.

Regarding the dates, Super was supposed to take place 5 years after Buu right? The anime promotion kept saying it was 6 months after while the Battle of Gods movie mentioned 5 years later? If it was 6 months, it would explain why Goten and Trunks still look like kids but doesn't explain why Gohan and Videl are already out of school and are already married and have a child  . I think so far it's been mostly the anime that's been given us plotholes regarding the year this is taking place. The manga hasn't really shown any time-skips save for the beginning with the recap of Z, and maybe the 4 months Frieza used to train after being revived, we don't know since they skipped the arc.

The manga for me has been trying to keep the continuity of time better IMO.

Apparently Toriyama's draft for episode 1 said 6 months after Buu(can't recall for certain). In the anime this is narrated as 6 months after Buu they used the DBs to make everyone forget about Majin Buu(as per the narration in the original series) and then some time passed.

Already the anime timeline is confusing from the beginning, this is why I prefer the manga, the timeline is way less confusing than the anime.

The two scans that show Pilaf asking Shenlong to make them younger has been leaked. Will somebody translate them? Are those pages canon/should be taken seriously or they are just a gag moment with no intention at all?

Piccolo dies within this two pages. Is Future Trunks's timeline.

Yes but the whole thing about Trunks' timeline was no Piccolo, no DBs.

Piccolo died right after Pilaf wished to become young, which is why the stone dragon balls didn't scatter around the world (Like when Guru died on Namek).

I don't know if translations are going to pop up like usual. The pages aren't Japanese or Korean this time. They're Chinese (Mandarin, I guess?).
