Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #54]
I thoroughly enjoyed your Shimanuki video, Ajay. You went into his style a lot, and it was very well done! I think I'll have to echo Sodhi here and say Manabe would be pretty good too, since I don't know too much about him yet. Either way, keep up the good work!

Manabe would be an interesting challenge. I'd have to cover Oka at the same time since they appear to have been a duo since Disk Wars. I'd probably put the focus on Oka since he has a much longer and more prestigious history than Manabe. I think tackling Manabe alone would honestly be pretty boring.

Ah yeah that's right, I never thought about that! Pairing them up probably would be best. Manabe really hasn't been around all that long, if his Animator's Corner page is any indication.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #54]
So since so many posts got deleted I would ask my question again.
I saw that Ajay keeps saying "many scenes were corrected" and I want to know if there is indeed to notice when a Supervisor "fixes" a scene or character models.
Can someone easily spot things like that or is it just something you notice from experience?

I typed up an enormous reply to this yesterday, which is gone now, sadly.Mazingerdestro wrote:So since so many posts got deleted I would ask my question again.

Maybe I'll retype it tomorrow if I get the chance, but the short of it is: kinda sorta both.
For the most part, you need to know the traits of the key animators, so you can easily see if something doesn't look like them. For example, Shida has a unique shading style and pours loads of detail into his character models, but his cut in Battle of Gods, the characters just looked like regular Yamamuro models. The general consensus is that his work was corrected.
In cases where you don't know the animators, it's a bit of guess work. Generally, every animator has their own style, so if something looks like it's all animated by one person, well it's likely because of the supervisor doing his job to the extreme. That's not to say scenes should look different with each cut, but you should at least be able to pick out unique line art, effects shapes, or movement.
I say guess work since in cases like this, you have no idea if it was solo animated, and not even a starting point for animation traits. You kinda just have to go with your gut, and mine says that Yamamuro was almost certainly involved, especially in the recent ones. But hey, what do I know?

So I guess this post was deleted, but I'll just repost it.
I had originally asked who seemed to have the most similar styles between DB Super and DB/Z's original run. I think It would be ~23 Budokai era Studio Junio episodes and Naoki Tate if I had to choose. Junio's smooth character movements remind me of Tate, even though they move in a less exaggerated way. Both also seemed to have a lot of dynamic angles and great camerawork in their fights, which is something I love.
I know that they both are very different, but they definitely both remind me of each other's work sometimes.

Great thanks!!!
Your explanation makes it easy to understand.
I had many people talking about "how super changes sometimes in every scene" and also commenting on db dbheroes and the consistent art.

An image has leaked for #55. Looks like one of the better shots of goku.

Looks decent enough

Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #54]
Nice! Looks "on model" and less of the "plastic shiny skin" effect going on. Looks good to me!Sodhi wrote:An image has leaked for #55. Looks like one of the better shots of goku.

So far, these images taken from FujiTV website didn't reveal anything... I look forward to the day one image will cause the fandom to go nuts (and in a week that doesn't have episode
).

The one for the episode three weeks from now will probably do, with SSJ Rose being revealed and allGrimlock wrote:So far, these images taken from FujiTV website didn't reveal anything... I look forward to the day one image will cause the fandom to go nuts (and in a week that doesn't have episode).

Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #54]
Even though I know it was only for a few seconds, but looking at the the new bit looks like there is definitely yamamuro's involvement in the special.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #54]
Well, he is the director after all, of course he will be involved. In the other hand, I want to see when Shida is making his appearence in the special or in an episode of the series, but I believe he will be working in the special, he hasn't worked a lot in DBS so I don't have a lot of hopes.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #54]
Maybe it's, like a lot of other previewed shots, due to a lack of finition and they didn't apply the "third shade", in other words the bright. It was common in other preview^^Sodhi wrote:An image has leaked for #55. Looks like one of the better shots of goku.

I wonder when Yashima will pop in again, if he has 59 that would mean he'll have had 8 weeks since his last episode, and if he can get his hands on the storyboard in a timely manner then it could end up being his best looking episode.

Excluding the episode that will be aired this week, wasn't Tate's latest episode Goku vs Black and now he works on Goku vs Black again? I hope he has enough time to produce a masterpiece like Vegeta vs Hit again.
This time I think they do have enough time

The direction in that episode was fantastic, but it didn't really have much animation.BakaManiaHD wrote:Goku vs Beerus episode 11 was the best
I'm hoping Tate brings us something that surpasses his cut in #26. That thing ended up on so many 'Sakuga Cuts of Year' lists; I just want more of it!
