Episode #0068! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian start up a new topic series, discussing inconsistencies the anime creates. For our first discussion, we take a look at DBZ episode 101 where a resurrected Vegeta flies over and sees SSJ Goku with his own eyes... which never happened in the manga. A corresponding slide-show video shows you everything! News, releases, and e-mails round out the episode. Referenced sites:
Go ahead and grab it. Big thanks to
godofchaos for hosting the asinine
*sixty-eight* episodes, now.
Julian's back! And we get to put our video-editing skills to mad-awesome use! This is all very exciting! I have nothing else to say! But since it's exciting, it gets an exclamation point! Huzzah~!

Yay, Julian's back!
I always liked the inconsistencies section of the site, so having it in podcast form must be that much better

.
(starts listening)
EDIT:
(finishes listening) Really great podcast episode this week. It was short, so allowed for listeners to think up their own opinions to the whole issue with Vegeta. I completely agree with you guys when you talked about how much better that filler scene would have been if Vegeta just saw a glimpse of SSJ Goku, to at least make him know that the SSJ level is attainable.
The whole YouTube video as a side thing was also pretty awesome. Not only was it informative, but the BGM choices were great, too. The BGM during Vegeta's resurrection in the anime suited it really well.
Finally, I sure hope that other filler stuff become topics for future episodes. It's stuff like this that especially intrigues me and keeps me preoccupied late at night while trying to sleep.

I enjoyed all those takes at the end the most. XD
Who was that saying "cut" by the way? It sounded almost like some sample audio that would come with a program.

I liked the ending. Also, Madman released a box set with every episode of Dragon Ball all the way up to the Tienshinhan Saga. Considering what you are getting, the price is amazing. I think it was somewhere between 70-90 bucks US.

LOL, it's funny, the only DB Saga's I acctually own are the 21'st Budokai, Red Ribbon Army Saga, General Blue, (& King Piccolo Pt.2 aswell).
I gotta be honest, I think the Anime's reaction to Vegeta seeing SSJ Goku was perfect and on key. Vegeta's last thoughts were him crying and begging Goku to defeat Freeza and avenge the Saiyans. So now that he's back to life and seeing Goku as a SSJ, his initial reaction I find is believably happiness. Yes it contradicts his later emotions, but HAD he acctually seen SSJ Goku, I do believe happiness and relief would be in his mind.

I agree. As long as Freeza is around, I think Vegeta would have been happy to see even Gohan (heck,
Krillin) become the Super Saiyajin. He wanted Freeza to die and he wanted to be right about the legend. But I do agree that it would've intensified his training and make him go earlier. So, I believe agree with the Podcast and disagree. As Dr. Cox would say, "Way to stick to your convictions, Newbie."

Interesting episode. I never really thought much about that scene but when i think about it you're right, it doesn't make that much sense. Filler sure can mess stuff up. It was interesting to hear your opinions on it.
The end was awesome. CUT!

Interesting stuff on the accompanying video. I would suggest possibly for the future ones, that maybe you give some "DAIZENSHUU EX SUBTITLES, OH YEAH! ;D" to the parts with the actual scenes from the show (if you're gonna continue to show them in Japanese, obviously). S'funny, that scene in the english dub actually had a lot of 'added' dialogue.
Vegeta: "Kakkarot, you DOG! You did it! You've finally become a Super Saiyan!!"
Freeza: "What!! But...I KILLED you!! You must be a ghost!!"
Vegeta: "Can a ghost do THIS, Freeza!?"
Good stuff, look forward to the next one. You kids behave yourselves while Julian's around ;B

Anyway, yeah, I thought about subbing the clip... but it's not all that necessary for this particular scene. The dialogue itself isn't as important as the delivery (which you don't need to understand Japanese to "get"), and just the plain ol' way it's animated.
In the future, if the scene warrants it, we'll almost definitely do so, though

Yeah, that was one my concerns when I saw the clip, but for that particular scene, your pretty much right about not needing the subs. Vegeta's expression is quite apparent to get the idea through.

Strange... The Tournament and Red Ribbon sets from FUNI are two of the three ONLY Dragonball DVDs I own... (The third one is Dragonball GT: The "Lost" Episodes Volume 1, by the way. Those DVDs are pretty hard for me to actually get.)
Nice episode. I can easily imagine filler inconsistencies becoming a standard segment in the show, as there are so many of them. The youtube-video was cool too.

I was kind of surprised to hear that the Dragon Ball DVDs are becoming scarce. Just makes me that much happier that I bought them as they came out, a lot for really cheap of ebay!
*cough*Piccolo saga DVDs for $10 each*cough*
Now if they could only get the whole episodes 1-13 thing figured out and released, I'd be happier than a pig in shit. I don't really want to buy it from another region and in a PAL format.

Yay Julian's triumphant return!
Those Dragonball DVDs are getting rarer to find indeed. I went looking for some at Katsucon a few weeks ago and found them -- but at much higher prices, upwards of $30 to $40 at some places. The cheapest I could find was a Red Ribbon Army set for $25, and others were going for a little more than that. If there's some place online that can offer these increasingly rare Dragonball DVDs at a good price, I hope this is the place we can get some good leads for.
Yay filler and the inconsistencies they create versus the manga. And their <reverb> RAMIFICATIONS! </reverb> The slideshow you provided for on YouTube was fun to watch too.
I wonder, what's your favorite (or least annoying) filler episode(s) in DBZ?
And yay for the after-the-show clips at the end with the different intros and such. It's like Guano in the background yelling "CUUUUT~!" on Kappa Mikey... not that you guys would watch that show, hee...
A fun and short podcast this week. And with next week being a music-centric episode (yay for music power!), and everybody being all at the same location at the same time, next week's episode should be a yummy treat indeed.

Man good podcast guys! I can definitely say that spot of filler confused me a lot, and I'm glad you cleared it up for me... Oh and...
Um.... that's my account. I was kind of in a
bad mood that day.

Hey guys, informative podcast as usual! Looking forward to the future manga reviews & "inconsistancies" segment.
You noted on the show that you were looking for sites that sold the "Tournament" & "Red Ribbon Army" sets for DB. Well, I found a couple, but check it for yourself.
Tournament Set: http://www.discountanimedvd.com/detail. ... ragon+Ball
or
http://www.bargainanime.com/dvd4755.html
Red Ribbon Army Set: http://www.discountanimedvd.com/detail. ... ragon+Ball
or
http://www.bargainanime.com/dvd4417.html
Just for FYI, Discount Anime DVD does sell a few bootlegs, but they seem to mainly carry legit R1 DVDs and manga. However, Bargain Anime doesn't sell any bootlegs at all, it's even stated on their homepage. Just thought you should know...
Later!

Hehe, indeed. I've seen worse on some of the Naruto videos around certain places, but yeah.
Sounds good to me.
