Well, they really were being true to the manga. Some of the parts that had blood originally in the anime didn't have blood in the manga i.e. Goku punching Freeza to the point where he throws up.

Others that indeed had blood in the manga now have it toned down, like when Goku looks down at Frieza.

When he looked down though there was still blood though. Maybe less blood but it wasn't completely absent.

More like a few red scratches.
Image
Did they include actual blood in the movie? Not in coughs, but dripping blood in the characters?
By tht way, looks like they fixed his expression (but his eyes are too little).

I guess the lack of extra red lines passed me. :?

And The only time I can recall any dripping blood in the recent movies is when SSG Goku got punched by Beerus at the beginning of the fight. I haven't seen RoF in a while though so I don't know.

This might also be a small thing, but I really enjoyed Freeza's first transformation. It felt even more fluid than the original.
I could have gotten into anything...and yet I chose the story aimed at young Japanese boys about martial arts, and later about super-powerful aliens punching each other really hard.

100% agreed. Loved that bit. The little 'pops' were so good.

Episode 56:

Image

Animation supervisor
Tate Naoki Manabe Shuuichiro

Key animator
Tate Naoki Manabe Shuuichiro Karasawa Yuichi Yamada Masashi (2) Ikai Kazuyuki Nobuzane Setsuko Nii Hirotaka Yoshiyama Yuu Wakana Yoshinori Kitamura Tomoyuki Nakaji Asuka Takamura Kaoru Higashide Futoshi Mura Shuntaro Kizaki Yukari Sasaki Hitomi Uesugi Junji Yamada Yuichiro Kinoshita Yumiko

2nd key animator
Tsuji Miyako Shimanuki Masahiro Tu Yeong-chaek Zhang Zheng Yokoyama Miyuki Sugawara Rieko Tezuka Emi

-

Oh my god. Tate delivers.

Shida next week!

Help me. I'm stupidly excited. I can't even contain myself.

What an episode. Tate obviously did so much action spread across the entire second half that there wasn't much time for anything outstanding, but what he did do was nice, at least!

Not as much fighting as I would have hopped, but what was there was pretty good! The worst shot art wise was mainly just a slightly funk Black face and I love the cut when Vegeta winds up his swing before getting stabbed.

Also holy shit at that NEP! Are you sure that's Shida?

Man that NEP looked so good. I'm slightly disappointed in this episode cause there was so little fighting and with how long it's been since the last Tate episode I thought we'd get more, but it was still great.
Next week though, holy crap!
I hope next episode isn't the last we see of Shida!

I need to see the episode in full and not on stream, because some parts looked kinda choppy. But I could tell Tate put his touch in some really cool and dynamic scenes.

Wait, Karasawa was the third animator on this episode even though he's supervising next week?

I doubt Shida is going to animate much though.

Oh yeah, definitely. He actually tweeted as much. Just said it was a little cut for something Dragon Ball related.

Will probably mark the climax of their fight, at a guess.
