The Vegeta Controversy - What did you expect?

What controversy? This is ridiculous. Vegeta is one of the main characters in the franchise, he always gets a chance to fight the main villain. He definitely had his share of dominance in the past; have people forgotten what he did last Arc in the tournament?

Vegeta fans should never complain. They should know by now that he will always be second to Goku no matter how strong he becomes. That's been established a very long time ago. At least he stays relevant.

How do you think fans of my man Piccolo, Gohan, Gotenks, or Buu feel when their favorites are not even in this current Arc? Most of us still watch and enjoy the show.

There shouldn't be a controversy. This actually annoys me, and believe me I don't get annoyed easily.

Personally I'm not asking Vegeta to be to equal to Goku at all. I liked his handling of him in GT much better. He wasn't tagging after Goku wherever he went, he was busy living his own life seperate from Goku like he was at the EOZ. He doesn't need to be Gokus wingman or fall guy, they should have let him hang back at home and protect the earth if anything funny went down like they did in GT.
Vegeta as a character is fiercely independent and ego driven. Having him follow Goku around like a lap dog only to constantly job is an insult, it's like Gokus the new Krillin. Even Krillin isn't tagging around Goku anymore...

To summarize, fans are mad because they made Vegeta the new Krillin when he should be out doing whatever he wants and improving on his own terms as fitting to his persona and character. He didn't ask Trunks or Goku for help achieving SSJ, he did it from pure "I can handle myself" grit but that has been severally neutered in Super. Many fans prefer he not even be in the past at all if this is his only contribution.

Vegeta fans still complained about his handling in GT, saying that he never got a major kill and had to resort to Bulma making a machine in order for him to achieve SSJ4. You can slice it anyway you want, the bottom line is that until he legitimately surpasses Goku, some not all will always find something to complain about.

Dragon Ball is more or less the story of Goku whether people like it or not. Yes there was consideration of thrusting Gohan into that role but all the way from DB to Z to GT to Super now everyone has either been an ally or adversary of Goku. Unless people want him to hang around as the asshole who only cares about power and defeating Goku this is what he is/will be within the DB universe.

Like someone said Vegeta has actually been treated much better than most in his position have been. His character has been given amazing progression throughout the series and I'd think Vegeta fans would be happy with that personally.

I have no problem with it being the Goku show. I just feel like Vegeta doesn't need to be the new Krillin and tag along on all of Goku's adventures. I'd be happy if he was treated like in GT. He's not part of the main adventure he just happens to be around when it's time for things to get serious.

I don't really see how that can happen with God Ki though. I mean he needs training from the very best and Goku trains with that person as well. They seem to do their own thing as well with Goku going to see Zeno alone or Vegeta training alone with Trunks. It just so happens they have the same master currently and are wrapped up in the same crazy events.

But he wasn't around when things got serious. Like, why didn't he helped with Shadow Dragon until Omega Shenron was born. It mean, he could have easily taking down several dragons by himself instead of leaving everyone to Goku and Pan. The same goes with the rest of the cast.

Vegeta's role is what Piccolo used to do, he looks cool, does some cool shit then gets beaten like a total bitch to make the bad guy look awesome. Anyone who doesn't realize this and is apparently a fan of the character needs to get the beginnings of a fucking clue already.

I agree. Goku was the one who got shafted in that arc, sure SSGSSKK was a thing but then he didn't exactly win, Vegeta got better moments in that arc. As for this it is like the Golden Freeza battle except Vegeta went first and Golden Freeza had no weakness.

This is Vegeta's position in the series. Was and always will be. He is the measuring stick for the big bad.

Namek saga, Vegeta got a power up, only to show how much more powerful Freeza was. Android arc, Vegeta got a power up, only to show just how much stronger #18 is. Cell saga, Vegeta got a power up only to show how much stronger Perfect Cell was. Buu arc, Vegeta got a powerup only to show how strong Fat Buu was. BOG, Vegeta got a power up only to show how powerful Beerus was. Rof, was slightly different, but it pretty much showed, that even if he beats the main villain of the arc, he still will lose. U6 got a bit stronger, trashed by Hit, Black arc, trashed by Black.

And Goku will always be the main character. He has to much popularity for this to change.

Toriyama never liked the guy, but he was crazy popular, so, in traditional Trolliyama fashion, he made him the official Worf of the series.

Vegeta purely exists to be a punching bag on legs to prop up Goku, or Gohan, or Trunks, or even Piccolo, depending on the part of the series. It's a huge joke by Toriyama, and it went totally above the heads of the whole ZEEEEEE crowd.

I really don't understand what the issue is. I mean, are some of the fanbase that much hung on Vegeta killing a central antagonist, despite the fact he has the highest kill count of any of the main cast in the original story, that to them the story hasn't done Vegeta a complete justice? Will Vegeta getting killing a central antagonist cure caner, stop world hunger and end all wars? Seriously, this complaint in regards to Vegeta is ridiculous. Out of all of the main cast that have gotten their ass kicked, Vegeta has gotten the best treatment out of all of them. I mean, even if Vegeta does kill a central antagonist, I'd bet they wouldn't be satisfied until Vegeta pull downs his pants and all makes them also join his "Kiss My Ass" Club.

The fact that he is actually somewhat equal to Goku (without Kaioken) in DBS, when he wasn't equal (or better, in this case) to him since arguably the Saiyan arc, proves that fans will never be satisfied with the treatment of his character. This isn't Vegeta's show. This is Goku's show. It always was and always will be. That's how I approach it.
