What is your opinion on the "Black is Goten" theory?

I kinda want the theory to be true because of 2 things.

1. Kinda weird that Goten hasn't meet future Trunks already eventhough Goten always with kid Trunks in the past. As if he has a bigger role awaits.

2. Goku promised to bring someone to play with Zen Ou. I seriously think Goku will bring Goten, and then **** happened that somehow make Goten evil or whatever

1. Think that is simply that the character is ignored, kinda like Gohan.

2. Dont think DB is that deep hehe.

Also, it is Goku's body, since he tried to use IT.

It doesn't make any sense. Goten himself hasn't appeared in the Arc either, so there is no consistency there anyway.

Goten has appeared in two episodes that I recall, but yes, he's not a focus in this particular arc. It would be jarring to try that angle at this point.

goten was conceived in the week leading to the cell games and future goku was dead by that time....

I don't think the writers would pull something off this surprisingly especially considering Goten is pretty much on the Gohan route at this point. We haven't seen him for the whole arc and looks like they just forgot about him..

I've posted this in the other thread, but this post is probably more on topic on this one:

I've been thinking about it more and more, and I remembered why the Black = Goten theory was discarded.

- Black talks about his body as if he acquired it.

When fighting Goku for the first time, Black tells him that he never expected to fight against Goku in this body, meaning Black probably fought with Goku but in his original body (probably when he was still Zamasu, assuming Zamasu stole Goku's body?)
He has a lot of respect for Goku, that could be because Goku beat him in their fight and Black had to steal his body in order to secure a win.
He also wants to know everything about Goku to perfect his body, and he was able to absorb Goku's fighting style following their battle, which Black says suits his body more. This alone makes the Goten = Black theory completely wrong, also, in the latest episode, Black mentions that he finally reached his body's full potential.
Now people seem to have forgotten of this particular (I too forgot of it) but there's no way Black can be Goten.
It's possible though that Black is using Future Goku's body and that's why he was touching his heart after fighting with Goku. Before, we could also say he was touching that part of the body because of the pain he felt after Goku attacked him, but we also know that Black was suppressing a lot of power in that battle, so unless he suppressed himself even more when Goku hit him because of his ablity of getting stronger each time he's punched, it's probable his body still has some heart problem, and that might be the key to beat him.

(Sorry for my English but I'm not very good at it when I have to explain complex thoughts)

I think the theory is kinda ridiculous and has no real base other than "Goten look like goku, Black look like Goku, therefore Goten must be Black.

I admit though, since the last episode where Zamasu reveals himself, I had a moment where I thought to myself, " Oh goodness, what if it is Goten?"

Unlikely, but it could have been a neat idea.
Think about it: Trunks' nemesis is the one that should be his best friend. Now Goku has to fight his own son, wich should be conflicting even for him.
It would be pretty dramatic.

But he is not Goten.

Hmm Gokus virus came much later than expected by Trunk because he f..... up the timespace by traveling back in time.

So, yes Goten was conceived in the week leading to the Cell games "in the normal timeline. However in future trunks time line Goten could be conceived much earlyer because traveling through time change things.

But its a stupid theory Goten=Black. His hair did't even change like in EOZ Goten.

Black is Goku's long-lost second brother, who had been spying on Goku from afar, and took his name out of jealousy. Neither Bardock or Raditz ever mentioned him because of reasons.

Another theory: what if Black is Future Goku resurrected with the Black Star Dragon Balls or some other set of balls? I haven't watched enough to know about any sets other than Earth's and Namek's sets but I still think it would be a neat twist if they brought back another variety or created a new set.

I think it's completely impossible for Goten to have been conceived in the wait for the Cell games. The Cell games are in May 767. Goten is born a few months after the Cell games, in 767. If he was conceived in the wait for the Cell games that would mean he would have to be born in 768, which he wasnt.

We know that Trunks is roughly a year older than Goten.

Now to the future. Trunks is present at Gokus death. He appears to be older than a new born.. Now, if Trunks was born in September or October 766 and Chi-Chi got pregnant about a month after that, it would make perfect sense for Goten to exist.. the time lines up perfectly.

Trunks is born. 2 months later Goten is conceived. A month after that, Goku dies. 8 months later Goten is born.
