Super Saiyan God Ritual and Future Trunks
Super Saiyan God Ritual and Future Trunks
I realized that now is a better time than any to answer the questions about the ritual, or just use it again. Unlike for Gohan, Goten, and Kid Trunks, Future Trunks has no real excuse to not want to go through the SSJ God ritual. He wants to get stronger to protect the future. He wants to beat Black and Zamasu. There is no reason at all to not just bring up the ritual, and then have him at least try it. Or if they don't go that route, they can explain why no one else could use the ritual and answer that question at the very least. We're in a spot where there's really no excuse to address this elephant in the room. Perhaps that's going to be the next step with Trunks even.

There are generally three viewpoints here:
--the two "bases" theory
--battle powers are just inconsistent
--Cipher's suggested silent retcon
Unless you subscribe to the first option up there, Future Trunks is already on par with Goku and Vegeta in their non-god forms. As per Vegeta's demonstration, the Super Saiyan God ritual is not required to reach SSGSS/SSB. So there' may not be a reason to use it. They might just need to let Trunks put his nose to the grindstone again with someone telling him how to keep his hair blue after it goes spiky.

Re: Super Saiyan God Ritual and Future Trunks
For me the unspoken logic is that SSJG is inferior to SSJB, so there's no point in bringing it up. Even if Trunks did it, was able to absorb it and then went to the RoSaT for a day. He would still be inferior to Goku and Vegeta.
I feel like the conversation will turn to that, at the end of the arc, because he wants to protect his future alone and has no limited time-frame.

Re: Super Saiyan God Ritual and Future Trunks
Inferior yes, but also much faster than trying to get blue normally. Took Vegeta 4 to 6 month's for that. Have Trunks go god and he can get there much faster since God is not that ridiculously below blue.LightBing wrote:For me the unspoken logic is that SSJG is inferior to SSJB, so there's no point in bringing it up. The reason to use it is because of time. It's much faster to use the ritual, than build up his strength all the way. God would be most of the journey to Goku and Vegeta's full power covered in a short period. Then train on top of that for blue.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:There are generally three viewpoints here:

Again, it depends entirely on the viewpoint of the individual. If you aren't subscribing to the two base theory, he's already on par with Goku and Vegeta sans SSGSS. Literally all he would need is the blue transformation itself to be unlocked. So instead of acting like an idiot and slapping Trunks around in the backyard a few episodes ago, Vegeta should have taken the rest of the day to drag his son into the RoSaT and teach him the big blue secret. It's not like they didn't have time to spare while Bluma was fixing the time machine.dbzfan7 wrote:The reason to use it is because of time. Now I get ya. No I don't believe he's anywhere near God as why would he be able to somehow accomplish that all on his own? Also two Super Saiyan forms with god power don't really make much sense to me.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Again, it depends entirely on the viewpoint of the individual. Re: Super Saiyan God Ritual and Future Trunks
I don't think Trunks is anywhere near the power of the gods either, but I also accept the manga as the main Super continuity. So I've generally said the hell with whatever messy, contradictory power scales the anime shows and just adopted Cipher's retcon idea so that the anime and manga are a bit more harmonious. Meaning Goku and Vegeta's bases are no longer god tier, and Trunks is generally equal with them in the same forms...except whatever you believe is going on with his haxed SS2 in the manga, I guess. Unless it proves to be important later, I'm just ignoring it for now.
So for me, there's no reason why Vegeta couldn't immediately teach his son about god ki and how to blue himself.

Re: Super Saiyan God Ritual and Future Trunks
I prefer the manga too. It makes more sense overall except a few hiccups. With Hax SSJ2, I kinda like it because character wise, it makes Trunks feel more competent. Last we saw him he was incompetent and amateurish. Powering up the wrong way and making a fool of himself. Now he does it in a unique and smart looking way.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I don't think Trunks is anywhere near the power of the gods either, but I also accept the manga as the main Super continuity. He could, but that doesn't mean he can just reach it easily. Doing the ritual would more than likely get him to Blue faster, and it gives him experience with the power he'd have to control as an SSJ Blue.

Re: Super Saiyan God Ritual and Future Trunks
Aye. In my head there is one of three reasons, one despite half-Saiyans being able to participate they are not able to actually handle the form proper, or the form runs out quicker. Two since Goku (and Vegeta) now have God Ki that would make the ritual redundant and they'll need more Saiyans, or Saiyans who have already participated in the ritual giving their energy can no longer participate again... these last two would be a good excuse to visit U6 Planet Sadala. (Though I really don't them to stretch the arc out but I think it would be a good way to incorporate that trip into the series other than in a mini arc)dbzfan7 wrote:I realized that now is a better time than any to answer the questions about the ritual, or just use it again. Re: Super Saiyan God Ritual and Future Trunks
I basically see Trunks' manga hax for SS2 as him just adopting Goku's "lets master SS!" For 2. By bringing it to a level of mastery, the energy he'd previously waste on turning it on/keeping it on can instead be used to power 2 up beyond its limits for atleast a little bit.dbzfan7 wrote:I prefer the manga too. When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

Re: Super Saiyan God Ritual and Future Trunks
since trunks already has ssj blue hair he needs to go ssj red and master it.
You can heal yourself as a ssj red and that might be better for him since he has no senzus

Re: Super Saiyan God Ritual and Future Trunks
They want us to forget about the ritual, for it to be a one off. The problem is that they didn't hit the nail on the head, on why Goku absorbing it was a miracle and a 0,000001% chance of happening. They just had Beerus say Goku is a genius, which doesn't really say much since everybody in this show is a genius.
We just have to take it as a different level of genius, which together with luck made it happen.
Regarding Blue, they have the RoSaT... We should assume it's more complicated than just following a regiment for a year. Having Whis probably helps a lot.
The fault is with the show for not properly explaining both the ritual and Blue.
The above are my explanations, which is why I'm highly interested in Vegeta pushing Trunks forward and how they'll discuss it.

I've seen plenty of theories on why they can't that could suffice enough, and maybe Toyotaro will say something. He seemed to do something to show us the whole Pilaf thing, which the show hasn't done. Maybe he'll answer this question to.LightBing wrote:They want us to forget about the ritual, for it to be a one off. In all honesty, as much as I like Future Trunks, I hope no one gets the SSB forms other than Goku and Vegeta. I like some things only being accessible to certain characters.
The reason they brought Future Trunks back was to ask Goku and Vegeta for help against an opponent as powerful as Goku and Vegeta. It just sounds too roundabout for them to have Future Trunks go back and ask Goku and Vegeta for help, only to have Future Trunks eventually become strong enough and be the one to defeat Black. Either Goku or Vegeta will defeat Black and I hope it's Vegeta

I have no idea how the retcon reading got attached to me, but I'll take it.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I don't think Trunks is anywhere near the power of the gods either, but I also accept the manga as the main Super continuity. I have wondered why they don't just do the ritual with Trunks, especially since they now have an extra Saiyan on hand, but if they wanted to address that, there are plenty of potential outs for not using it:
-It wouldn't work with the two Trunks having identical ki, and Pan, a baby, can't participate without Videl providing focus.
-It wouldn't be particularly useful to give Trunks a temporary power-up; Goku and Vegeta only managed to achieve Blue through a year's worth of training under Whis. (I suppose they could take him into the RoSaT and train him in the ways of godly ki, but ... shhh. Maybe they still need something unique to Whis' training.)

Quite frankly, it would be repetitive. Or if you want an in-universe answer, Goku & Vegeta's Saiyan Pride won't allow it.Cipher wrote:I have no idea how the retcon reading got attached to me, but I'll take it.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I don't think Trunks is anywhere near the power of the gods either, but I also accept the manga as the main Super continuity.
