You think some fans are destroying the Dragonball Community??

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

I'd still argue towards making the Kanzenshuu community the best it can be. I'm not certain in how much influence on the greater fandom we have, but, at the very least, having some sort of pocket where fans are respected and feel welcome would do wonders in the face of unending bullshit and vitriol. I guess I'm saying, in a nutshell, that we should "be the change we wish to see in the world".

You can look through the archives of this site and find threads posted back in 2006 or earlier, literally a decade ago, with people arguing about the same exact things that people argue about now. Not counting the new stuff that didn't exist back then like Kai, Super, etc.

Seriously, go to the last pages and read threads from the early 2000's. The same exact debates of characters, the same dub debates, the same GT hatred, the same "This character is useless, etc." The fandom has never changed. And we have proof of that of threads from decades ago from different fans (most of whom don't post here anymore) arguing about the same things.

10 years from now it'll be the same thing.

Not really, people use the "GT isn't canon" claim as the be-all scapegoat to disregard any comparison to the material used in Super they can't defend themselves in their basis of opinion. The "not canon = garbage" implication is always used when stated. While things that are considered "canon" are supposed to be excluded from criticism. People never have any real basis with GT either beyond that, even if their flaws literally mirror each other.

If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

Annoying fans that refuse to admit that anything is wrong with the Dragon Ball franchise have probably been around since the English fandom's inception and we're still here now so I don't think a few butthurt fans will destroy this community.
