Goku and Piccolo vs Radditz
This has always bothered me. If Piccolo hadnt created the Makankôsappô in time for Radditz's arrival, would he and Goku have been able to defeat him? Goku hadnt increased in strength much since his battle with Piccolo and it was clear that Radditz was a lot stronger than Piccolo, who had obviously been training those past 5 years. So I vote no, I have a feeling Radditz would have killed em both easily.

Re: Goku and Piccolo vs Radditz
Radditz was about to kill Goku before Piccolo used Makankôsappô for the first time. Without Makankôsappô, I'd assume that Radditz would have finished Goku right then. Gohan probably would have attacked Radditz immediately afterwards and would have also been killed. Same for Piccolo.Sun_Wukong wrote:This has always bothered me. The idea of a Super New Amazing Technique saving our heroes from dying it hardly unique to that, though.
Raditz would have won if Piccolo didn't have his StupidLongWord beam.
Vegeta would have won if Goku hadn't learnt Kaio-Ken/Genki Dama.
Freezer would have one if Goku hadn't transformed into a Super Saiyan.
Cell would have won if Gohan hadn't transformed to Super Saiyan 2.
(Hmm. They gradually move from SuperNewAttack to SuperNewPowerup.)

Probably because the super new power-up allows for more visually entertaining scenes as opposed to single scenes where the super new attack is used.Raditz would have won if Piccolo didn't have his StupidLongWord beam.

And thus, power levels begin to skyrocket out of control.

It's true! Super power techniques took too long to use:
"You stall him for 12 minutes, m'kay?" = 1,330PL
"Ka....Me...Ha...(5 of those 12 minutes later)...Me...HA!!!" = 924 or 928 PL. To use them they needed to increase their PLs by tons, so 00ber power ups were introduced.

Yes they just seemed to stop putting in new attacks as DBZ progressed. Vegita was the only one to develop new ones it seems. Except for Goku's "Ryu-ken" technique which was only featured in movie 13. Goodness knows why it wasn't in the Buu saga.

Didn't Goku also use it about 3 times in GT? I think against Super 17 and Yi Xing Long..Jerseymilk wrote:Yes they just seemed to stop putting in new attacks as DBZ progressed. Wha?! No he didn't! He just put all his strength into one punch. No ki dragons wrapped around Piccolo and then blew up.

Dayspring is right, it's not the same technique...
Again, just to strengthen the point with my whiny words (and to steer this Dragon Fistillicious bus back on topic), They wouldn't have won without the Makankôsappô (or as PsyLiam calls it, StupidLongWord Beam. That guy is great).
Just like they wouldn't win against _______ without _______ (Insert thousands of combinations, it will still make sense). That can even mean "Kamehameha" and "Pilaf"... probably.

The difference there is that the Kamehameha was established long before the Ultimate Battle against Pilaf (if it can be called that).
I suppose you could make an argument for the Super New Techique being Ozaru, except that even that had been mentioned.
Which one was the Ryu-ken?
And, Dayspring, I don't think that Goku was increasing his power level while doing the Ka...me....ha...me...HA against Raditz. Rather, I think he was just concentrating his chi into a single point. I think that Raditz's scouter was reading that. Possibly the act of concentrating the chi caused it's apparent energy to go up.

Ryuu-Ken was an attack Goku used in DBZ movie 13 and several times in GT. When he uses it, his fist turns into a dragon and he punches through his opponent, then he vanishes as the dragon wraps around the enemy, then glows and vanishes as the enemy explodes and the dragon turns back into Goku.PsyLiam wrote:Which one was the Ryu-ken?
