Raditz question

Post by SaiyaMel » Thu Mar 22, 2007 12:37 pm

Is he considered a low class Saiya-jin like his brother and father?

It's not explicitly stated but one could gather as much. Since Saiyans seem to inherit their class based on their bloodline, Raditz (and Kakarotto) would be lower class. Nappa and Vegeta are the only remaining "elite" Saiyans at the onset of Z.

If memory serves, Vegeta and Nappa made some off-hand comments on how weak Raditz was and didn't seem to hold him in very high esteem.

That's very true. Did they not compare his strength to a Saibaman?

Yes they did. He was stated equal to them ("over 1,200").

I think I've said this on another topic, so I'll try to remeber what I said.

I believe that Radditz is a low level by birthright. Since he was one of the only survivors after the planet being destroyed, he could've automatically been promoted as an elite or soldier under Freeza's regime.

If memory serves all saiyajin babies are examined at birth, therefore that would make that theory correct (though Goku is a prime example of being able to overcome that ranking)

Also I wonder why Freeza decided to keep Raditz alive at all, I mean him being the eldest son of the guy that tried to overthrow him and all...

Maybe he wanted to treat Raditz like crap to get back at Bardock even more? I'm not sure.

I doubt Freeza knew what Bardock looked like or who he really was. Bardock was just "the Saiyan who resisted until the end" before he destroyed Planet Vegeta. So I doubt Freeza really knew (or cared to know) Raditz's background. He was just another "monkey"....

I think Raditz was just plain lucky he wasn't at the planet at the same time Frieza destroyed Vegeta. Same as it was with Goku.

Probably on a really low level planet.

Vegeta sure didn't anyways - last i checked, it was Nappa who suggested to wish him back with the DBs.

In the manga he knew what Burdock looked like.

Oh, he definitely knows what Bardock looks like, since the first time Freeza saw Gokuu, he noticed the resemblance.

But I think it's possible that Freeza didn't know Raditz was Bardock's son. Or if he did, maybe he just didn't care.

Raditz said all of the survivors were on a mission.

Combining the scenes of Prince Vegeta in the Bardock special and the episode 78 flashback, it seems as though Freeza made it a point to drop him off to the planet he was to demolish next (placed in the bowels of the tyrant's ship), though Freeza'd already decided to destroy Planet Vegeta along the way. The young prince didn't learn of the destruction until Nappa informed him some time later after he had wiped out his target. Nappa was most likely still on Planet Freeza, as he'd been seen there near the start supervising Vegeta's training and he most likely learned of the planet's destruction right there on the empire base (though believing it was a meteor/comet/another planet/meteor shower/spanking from their Kami-sama). As for Raditz, it really doesn't help things that he was nowhere to be seen in the Bardock special, merely getting one small nod by Bardock saying "My son was born a long time ago"; and even that was dub-only. As stated, he was most likely on another planet, it's kinda sad we'll never know for sure. Though one thing is certain, in the dub-universe, he didn't know of the planet's destruction till 3 years before he met "Kakarrot". :P

:x Why did I say that! Ugh I was tired (or wasted)... Anyway I think what I meant to say was I doubt Freeza knew about Bardock's family. I also forgot that Freeza knew who the saiyan that attacked him was because Zarbon alerted him of his spaceship. Damn I'm dumb.... Still that doesen't guarantee that Freeza knew Raditz's relation to Bardock. Or maybe Raditz was beneath his interest.... we know how arrogant Freeza was. The battle between Freeza and Vegeta was a battle of ego's not strength you know...

 Wow I forgot about that! Poor Raditz.... he must have hit his head on that landing on Earth. Was that corrected on the Ultimate Uncut DVD's? :?

Unfortunately no. With much of the script being the same as from the first 4 Saban eps, I think Funimation was being extremely lazy during the first part of the Saiyan Saga.

To quote Cartman: GAWD DAMNIT!!!! :x :x :x With a bunch of the other stupid mistakes corrected why not that one !? Your right Super Sonic... lazy indeed. :?

So..... why does Raditz wear a girdle?

Seriously... I think the overall answer is Freeza didn't care enough about Raditz to find out his family tree. Unless someone has a better answer (and I know there is one). To keep this thread going a bit more why do you think Raditz didn't strengthen his tail like Goku did when he was a kid ? Plot hole or was Raditz lazy?
