Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
Why do people even think this?
Toei and Bandai has wanted a new Dragon Ball series for years so that they make money and sell merchandise.
It would be terrible from a buissness perspective for this happen. And it be terrible from a story perspective as well wtf would be even the point of even bothering with all of this lore and world building if we never even get to see it?
Keep in mind that Dragon Ball Super is Toei and Bandai biggest money maker behind One Piece. It was just behind One piece in ratings,Rhymestyle and Forneverworld and bunch of other popular people who talk about this even tweeted about this.

Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
It won't be the final modern DB arc but I think it'll be Toriyama's final arc cause I don't think something like that can be topped.
If Goku wins he'll be the strongest fighter in all the 12 universes so where do you go after that ?

July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
We don't even know if the Omniversal tournament will be the next arc yet. Although I'm hoping it won't be because that would be a good way to end Super.
Anyway, I can see the series going on for another year at least with how successful it has been, and I hope it does because if other arcs retain the quality of the last two Super will end up being a decent series.

Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
Well if we get 11 more universes fully developed and some arcs in between I think that it would be enough.
If the make 11 universes each 10-15 episodes+some filler+some extra stories+the final arc it would end up with more than 200 episodes.
Also once Goku is the strongest of all universes and all Gods then I think there is no place to go.
However, I still have a theory that after the tournament a final arc will start that will finish with Goku and Vegeta sealing all the universes by sacrificing all their God ki/blue forms, so we can have the same ending with Z, with a stronger Goku who doesn't have God powers

Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
There is no reason to believe or not believe a multi-universe tournament will be the final arc of the series. For that matter, there's no reason to believe - at this point in time that I'm writing this post in August 2016 - that a multi-universe tournament will actually even happen in the series in the first place. Yes, the "King of All"/"Omni-King" tossed that idea out there in-universe, but so far that's... literally all we have to go off of. I'm blanking right now, but imagine if each and every statement or request or question in the series actually panned out exactly as-is? We don't have a Goku vs. Piccolo rematch, and I'm fairly certain that was mentioned/requested in-universe in the past.
So again, yes, a character mentioned it, but it's not like that's been an official, confirmed announcement from Toei Animation (or Toriyama, or Toyotaro, etc.) as actually coming. Will it? Probably. Very likely. Seems pretty on-point.
But if we don't even have a confirmation that it's happening, it's somewhat ridiculous to make statements about it being the final arc on top of that. Would that be a logical or satisfying place to end Super...? I have no idea right now. I need to see where the Trunks / Goku Black / Zamasu stuff is going, and perhaps what comes after that. Right now? That doesn't sound particularly satisfying to me.
We really have no idea what Toei's plans are, and I'd argue Toei doesn't even know their own plans, either.

Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
If Super continues to make money, it will go on and on and on till it stops making money. So it can end by next year, or continue till the year 2100.
Tho, i can imagine the power levels will be screwed beyond belief if it continues for to long.

I like DB, and I wish Super continues for some more arcs... but I don't wish it to be a never-ending thing like OnePiece... I hope to see its ending before I die...buutenks wrote:If Super continues to make money, it will go on and on and on till it stops making money. heh, doubt it will go for that long. 84 years is a bit to much ^^Gig wrote:I like DB, and I wish Super continues for some more arcs... but I don't wish it to be a never-ending thing like OnePiece... Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
I completely agree. Zen'ou said he wanted to have the Otherverse Omniverse Tournament soon, but 1. That's it, and 2. Soon might be 1000 years from now because sense of time is different for gods.VegettoEX wrote:For that matter, there's no reason to believe - at this point in time that I'm writing this post in August 2016 - that a multi-universe tournament will actually even happen in the series in the first place. And thirdly: I think the Omniverse Tournament is mostly an excuse to have Goku and Vegeta continually improve, honestly. It's a faraway event that serves as an excellent motivator without putting a specific person as the goal ("We need to surpass Whis!"/"We need to surpass the Grand Attendant!"). That's why it would make sense to put the tournament at the very end, as that'd be the time to show off the results of all the training and battles Goku and Vegeta have gone through and prove that one of them is the best fighter in the multiverse... or something of the sort. However, it's just as likely to happen as it is likely to stay far into the future... so far, in fact, that it doesn't happen until everyone we know not counting the gods is dead, which means that it doesn't happen in Super at all.

super was stated for 72 eps. it would be hard to finish this arc then have a multiverse tournament
hopefully it extends to 300+ eps

Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
I agree, with the "bigger fish" theme in DB I really doubt that it's going to end with an omniverse tournament.
I do wonder how Toriyama can top that, if he possibly can.

Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
There wasn't only Zeno mention, but also Goku remind it, hyped for the challenge next to come in Potafeu arc. This strenghten the feel this contest had to come.
Again, this could end as a free for all contest, to shorten the arc (not 12 teams fightin!), and have a reasonable lenght.
It will be done and end the series? I dunno. But seems legit and a good idea, to have a final duel to end Super.
That's why people support the concept.
Also...
"What possible come next?", the answer is easy: like Tenkaichi, a new re-contest after a while. There's no hint Goku will surely win the first time (in fact Goku is bad at tournaments XD).

Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
I can definitely see Super staying for a long time. I honestly can't see what Toei would put on in that time slot that would get similar or better ratings and rake similar merchandise numbers. I mean they had to rehash Z for that slot didn't work like they wanted so they started Toriko that was even worse and they had to go back to the Z rehash. Super by all accounts is working fine. No reason to stop this. If OP was able to sustain as long as it is sustaining can't see why Super can't.jplaya2023 wrote:super was stated for 72 eps. it would be hard to finish this arc then have a multiverse tournament

I honestly hope it doesn't stay for too long, I'd like to totally finish my collection in a few years' time.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:I can definitely see Super staying for a long time. Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
I don't think the Omniverse tournament will be the last arc. 12 Universes we know jack about them except U7, and then Super ends it all after meeting 50 strong opponents from 10 new universes? No, please no. We need to explore these other worlds, get new adventures in.

Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
If Super is still doing really well I can see it going further than the Omiverse Tournement. When ever that even is. Even If Toriyama decides he doesn't want to keep writing anything past that point, Toei would probably keep going on their own until the series stops working for them.
I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I guess we will see.

Re: Why would the omiverse tournement be the final arc?
Why wouldn't it? Dragon Ball ended with a tournament (both DB and DBZ portion of the series). I think that Goku being consumated as the strongest fighter among the 12 universes would a be good way of ending the story - provided that occurs after the EoZ, for the sake of the story's continuity. Since it was only hinted so far and its unknown whether it will actually take place or not, it would be nice if the characters were given some time to train before the tournament - and including Oob in the roster and perhaps a Hit vs Goku rematch (I believe that would be the only motivation for Hit to participate in the first place) might be a nice touch, from where I see it.
Although, usually tournaments never end well or don't end at all so the event could also just pitch the final arc.
