If Goku Black had the appearance of any other character, who should it have been?

Basically as the title says, should Black have really looked like Goku? I understand the SSR thing would only be available to the Sayians so what about a Vegeta Black that could go SSR? That sort of buts heads with the Baby saga from GT though so I'm not sure how fans would react to it. Personally, I'd loved for it to have been either Goten Black (Which is still possible but unlikely) or Gohan. It would have been an even much darker tone if it was Goten who ruined the future of his childhood best-friend, even if it wasn't really Goten. I honestly think since Goten is being kept out of the picture it's going to have something to do with him, I know he wasn't born in the future but anythings possible. Goku's supposed to be dead but by the way Black talks it's not his original body and he never really said specifically it belonged to Goku, and Black looks a lot more lean where as Goku is buff with muscles on his muscles. If Trunks can have a kick ass future counterpart, I don't see why Goten can't.

A re-Piccolo Daimao Black could be cool. Piccolo getting taken back over by Daimao and then getting stronger with the Super DBs maybe?

If it wasn't Goku Black then the only one that I could see it pulling off with would be Gohan Black.

With how Gohan relates to Trunks it could have made it very interesting and also it's have been nice because Gohan hasn't done squat. This could have been a Gohan if he'd lived up to the potential they always implied.

Goten would be awesome, but it's very unlikely.
Black Trunks (Trunks Black) would be AMAZING.
Demigra and Masked Saiyan are my other choices, but I'm pretty happy with the Black we already know.

Granted, I agree that a Gohan Black would have been a pretty cool idea instead of Goku (especially since it would have made that much more of an impact on Future Trunks, as well as definitely raising some very different questions as well as maybe getting Gohan involved in this arc as well), but the idea that him being a bad guy would be 'living up to his potential' just because he'd be strong, seems...off to me, somehow.

Other than Goku and Gohan though, I'm not really sure who else would work as well. Piccolo Black would be an interesting choice, but sinnce he was already a villain once upon a time, it would lose a little bit of the shock factor in comparison to Goku and Gohan who have always been good. The same goes double for a Vegeta Black.

That's all going off of what we're definitely leading to with the character though, where Zamasu somehow lead to Goku Black. If it'd been anything else, I'd probably have been hoping for a whole fleet of them - all the above mentioned, but Kuririn Black, Yamcha Black, Tenshinhan Black, you name it, so long as they were one of the heroes that fell against the Androids in that timeline.

No it'd be the potential they were referring to when Vegeta said he had the greatest potential of them all.

I'm tired of Vegeta becoming evil, at this point. Not interested in seeing an evil Piccolo for the third time either.
Gohan is the best choice. Not only it would be interesting from a writing point of view, but it would also be a good way of doing something interesting with Gohan's character.

Talking about what we got, I would still love that Goku Black turned out to be Goten Black.

This right here. That would have been perfect and he could still even have the time ring and Kaioshin earrings with the same outfit he would look badass. We've already had Vegeta do something evil again with the whole majin stuff so Piccolo is the only other character that the evil persona would fit.

The issue I see arising with Gohan is how he can present the appropriate kind of danger to Zamasu in order to compel him to question the logic of allowing mortals to attain such power. Last we saw of him, he was long since retired with no future prospects of training or fighting. There's simply no window for Gohan and Zamasu to interact. Conceptually it's a very interesting idea, not only for the psychological implications mentioned above concerning Future Trunk's deep relationship with the character, but the resulting interactions he has with everyone else, their contemplation on how to deal with him, and the applications of his monstrous potential which has always been so much greater than others'. However, with the current setup of things, Gohan would never cross Zamasu's mind to use as a blueprint unless he used the dragon to discover which mortal holds the greatest potential or something along those lines.

Once again, like the others mentioned, Vegeta Black or Piccolo Black would be too redundant as the concept of them being evil has already been explored quite a bit. I doubt having a Black-esque iteration of Yamcha, Krillin, Tenshinhan, or Chaozu of all people would beget the same mystique and intrigue as Goku Black does because they're retro side characters who became obsolete back in the early portions of DBZ with not much participatory elements to keep them interesting except for maybe things like Krillin's romance subplot with #18.
