Ki. Ki and Chong. Kitah. Kieap. Ki.
Enough with the wordplay. On to the foreplay!
The Z-universe has its characters use ki, which in turn makes them super fast, strong, and powerful. Ki is energy, right? So what increases this energy? The humans obviously plateau because their bodies cannot generate enough ki, but the Saiyans transform their bodies and are thus able to have and use more ki.
Any theories as to how this infernal energy works, and how they are able to generate so darn much of it?

Well, my son, neither does a hole in your head.
But I suppose your right. Leave it up to the imagination and all that. Fairy dust and dreams.

Yes, well, that's never stopped us before. Plenty of rousing arguments and discussions over this and that.
ex. Power levels being non-linear.

Here are some other threads dealing with this non-existant stuff being explained.
So there.

Agreed.
It is interesting, though, that ki does exist. I doubt we'll ever be able to fly, but, it'd be nice to be able to focus our energy to the point where we can break through walls. Of concrete. Thick concrete.

I don't know about that, but I've seen monks do amazing things by supposedly utilizing their ki. Stuff like breaking metal over their heads and such.Epsilon Grey wrote:Agreed.

We've seen martial arts competitions on ESPN where fifteen blocks of concrete were bashed in by a guy's forehead so...

And, my friend keeps claiming he's seen people fight Neji / Hinata style (That would mean knocking each other across the room and doing crazy things with what seems to be weak slaps). Whatever, right?
There was also that topic where just two people argued about ki strength and such for pages and pages before coming to the conclusion that ki is just magic. Hurray for that.

I have a theory.
Ki is more than just energy. It's the body's life force. The more powerful a body is, the more ki they'll have. (To add a sense of realism to it, you could say that a stronger person would be healthier, and more full of life, as opposed to a frail, dying person.) So, just training your body, or attaining some sort of power up, would increase your ki.

That's not just theory, it's scientif fact. Scientists know that the human body generates heat and energy, argueably that's the same thing as Chi.TripleRach wrote:I have a theory.

Indeed. The universe is filled with energy, it is just in different states. If I could somehow turn my bodies potential energy into kinetic energy, externally, and control it, well, I'd be unstoppable. I think. That's not just theory, it's scientif fact. That's very simple. Fall over backwards. You have now converted your potential energy into kinetic energy.Epsilon Grey wrote:Indeed. Are you unstoppable yet?

I know of frail elderly martial artists that have still continued to demonstrate immense power, so just saying the stronger the body is, the more powerful doesn't hold up. It's the controlling of the "ki" that is the most important. That's why someone like Tenshinhan, who was much. muck weaker than Cell was able to hold him back with his Kikoho.
Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."
B-kun: "What?"

In suppose I could have frased that better.
If we could control our energy so that it is not turned into motion, or used by our normal body processes, that would be cool. Granted, I don't see how that is possible. What is more likely is focusing that energy internally and being able to strike harder or move faster. As I am about to do to James for his sass.
My name is James too, punk. I say we draw blades for it.
Awesome.

I suspect that increasing the number of mitochondria per cell would improve the rate of cellular respiration. This would also provide a corresponding benefit in strength and endurance. I'm not sure of any way to specifically channel biochemical energy.Epsilon Grey wrote:If we could control our energy so that it is not turned into motion, or used by our normal body processes, that would be cool.
