Not quite, but sort of. I mean, do you ever write a situation so well for the villain that you actually need to figure out how to stop him? Of course, you could use a character and say, "Oh yeah, I had this person. I'll use them to get out of this."
¸
I did actually, although Freeza creating a plan so good that the heroes only win by virtue of Beerus showing up at the right time was the point: they failed by virtue of letting Freeza's plans advance to the point where they lost before the fight even started.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

How do you guys get inspiration? I'm not asking for myself, I already have everything planned, I'm just asking in general. Do you wait until an idea comes to you naturally, do you sit down and try to "channel" creativity, do you watch or read other stuff than your own work... You get the idea, what techniques do you use to come up with stories, villains, places and so on?

Sometimes I get ideas when I'm just walking to class. When I'm sitting down trying to write it doesnt always come as naturally as opposed to when I'm out somewhere. My story is a crossover so I mix elements from both stories

I get a lot by listening to Dragon Ball music, especially Sumitomo.
Unfortunately, I only get little bits of ideas and never the entirety of a plot. But still, it works. I make up the outline as I go along using my ideas, so...

Inspiration strikes me when it does. If I'm not motivated on personal projects, it's put off until creative sparks rekindle. Working with "full-power" is the preference. Often, thoughts are immediately notated for possible future use. I've practiced this long before smartphones eased holding process. Dreams are rife with weird details that I find imperative to record. Composing will be intentionally messy since correction always arrives later. In fact, the post I'm creating now started off as ineligible garbage. Heart of a message is filled in code before elaboration and my work station contains various vague thoughts held for future dates. This allows freestyle of established material, freely flowing through content. I'll usually return to my scribbles when re-implementing details I forgot and rework final products into cohesion.

How deconstructive do you get with Dragon Ball fanfiction? As in, purposefully addressing the implications of characters actions in a way the show either glosses over or outright ignores.

Usually, the bystanders will figure out or get hints of what's going on in the fighters' heads. Never something like a character launching a Ki beam at someone else and someone responding "They used a Ki beam!" Unless, of course, they're pointing out the attack name or are simply surprised at said attack.

Hope I didn't completely misunderstand the question.

Oh no! Certainly none of that Kishimoto writing we all hate

I meant more along the lines of having the story and/or characters address say Vegeta's body count from his time in Freeza's army. A fact which gets ignored a lot not to diminish Vegeta being a good guy now.

Well, I plan to have a small joke prodding at the whole 'Five minutes on Namek' thing. A situation becomming tense because the Frieza race character says that they have five minutes to run, but when five minutes pass they say it's only been a few seconds. Which ends up explaining that Frieza's race have a different concept on time.

How often do you guys have characters swear? I'm averse to having much of it and when I do, I like to keep tame, no use of motherfucker or the like. The harshest one I try to use is crap.

I try to keep it tamed as well probably at around 10 at most an arc but usually there's half that amount. The harshest word I'll use is bastard but of course you should see that word as often if not less often than the actual franchise.
Why I use "Geran" instead of "Jiren"

No more than the original series does, really. At the appropriate times and from the appropriate characters. Occasional uses of "bastard," "hell," "damn," and so forth. The really strong language you see in bad fansubs and stuff really has no place in Dragon Ball.

Depends on the character, I have no limit on the words I'll use, but there is a point where you put so much swearing in you're reminded of when you were yonger and thought ''Put fuck at the end of every sentence'' = ''Mature''. Though when writing characters like Android 15, I'll be more inclined to swear because the stereotype he's based on probably has one hell of a gansta potty mouth.

I love swearing, but excessive use of them just for just the sake of swearing makes the writing seem more cringey.

Which is why I also see no need to include it on a website about said franchise.

Anyway, I never, EVER use swearing. I wish no one else would either. Very indecent practice.

It has a purpose in creating emphasis, or drawing attention, but Dragon Ball usually does that through other means. That being said, no one has ever been hurt by few nasty words, so I'd say it would fit as long as it's in the proper context.

For those of you wondering, here's some spoilers for my fic and Dragon Ball Super:
Yes, I will be using Black. Turns out his identity is a letdown for me, so I can confirm beforehand that it will not be Zamasu.
If Beerus commanded Whis to kill someone for him, in this case Goku and Vegeta, would Whis do it?

I don't think Whis actually takes orders from Beerus, he jsut takes care of the cat. His response would probably be a lazy "Do it yourself, I'm eating"

I guess I need to explain some context to make sense of my question :P
Basically, at the end of my F remake, Beerus kills Freeza but not before Freeza tells him he's got evidence of Beerus ordering him to destroy Planet Vegeta, evidence he intends for Goku and especially Vegeta to get their hands on. Beerus, drained from his fight and afraid of the Saiyan's, asks Whis to get rid of them for him. One route I'm thinking of going is having Whis use Hit for the assassin job but I'm not sure Whis would mind killing either Goku and Vegeta, hence why I ask if he'd refuse or comply with it.

Whis doesn't really strike me as the type to care if Goku or Vegeta die or not, but Beerus seems to generally want them to live. I neither think Beerus in this situation would legitimantly be afraid, nor would his first instinct be to kill the two. For one he can just destroy the evidence, for another Beerus would probably just turn to Vegeta and go ''Oh yeah I did do that didn't I, because that was kind of my job".

Goku and Vegeta know that Beerus is the God of DESTRUCTION, he's destroyed countless planets who probably did nothing wrong. Hell, they met because he was planning to destroy them all. By now I think Vegeta would just shrug at this, this really isn't anything that would have them try to kill Beerus. THough if they did intend to attack Beerus, Whis would most certainly step in.
