Exactly, why would one Zamasu be guaranteed Goku vs the other? Further, why would one Zamasu want to be immortal and the other not? They're the same person executing the same plan.

I guess people are just being considerate since it's (sort of / presumably) the major reveal of the arc.

That said, if you're looking to avoid spoilers, it's your fault for reading a thread dedicated to Super-related announcements/reveals.

It's cool that people are willing to cater to those fans since I appreciate this thread isn't always about spoilers, but it's certainly not a requirement.

That is thought to Zamasu is Black? Zamasu call "mortal" Black in two times. The synopsis is confusing ....

So does the actual Japanese summary specifically use the verb "switch" or is that just inferred from the overall translation? If Zamasu actually did switch bodies with Goku, it would make things pretty messy since we know the present Goku we're familiar with most likely wasn't affected by this wish. In that case it would have to be a Goku from some alternate timeline, but there's really no need to introduce new timelines out of nowhere just to explain Black's identity - that frankly comes across as weak storytelling.

My previous theory was that Black was a result of present Zamasu wishing for a new body exactly like Goku's in the event that his old body was destroyed. That just seemed like a cleaner way of explaining everything to me.

If there are 2 Zamasus alive (at least) then wouldn't that mean Beerus somehow failed to kill the main timeline one ?

I'm not sure if he used the super dragon balls but if he did, could he have wished for his soul to be switched to a different body if someone killed him ?

Actually, something just occurred to me - if Zamasu needed to travel a year into the future to make his wish, then presumably the Goku he switched bodies with was likewise a version of present Goku existing one year in the future from Super's current timeframe. But that would beg the question of whether Goku is now predestined to have his body stolen from him in a year... which I suppose can be solved with more time travelling shenanigans after Black and Zamasu are defeated.

Hell, it might even pave the way for Future Trunks joining a DBS version of the Time Patrol.

I would wait after episode 60-61 i think we will have surprises in those 2 episodes even with the spoilers just like at the end of episode 56 Zamasu's entrance

Can I ask again why so many people are on board for this random fifth timeline as of the last day or two?

The way I see that makes everything easier:

1- Cell kills Trunks timeline.
2- The unseen timeline which Trunks from 1 went once.
3- Future Trunks' timeline.
4- Present timeline.
5- The timeline 20 years ahead of Future Trunks' timeline.

Note that the first one is three years ahead of the third one, therefore it is different from the fifth one. None Trunks arrived at the third timeline (resulting in Goku's death). But not always I consider this fifth one.

Yeah it sounds silly as hell, it's like they recently read that part of the finished plot with the story on-going

I'm kind of hoping Toyotaro completely diverts from the anime here.

Before the start of the arc, I thought the idea of Goku Black was disappointing then it turned out to be one the better stories in Super. I'm looking forward to see how this whole Zamasu is Black (kinda) thing plays out before I pass judgment.

Well I called it from the beginning, it's a body swap. I bet the shot we see of Zamasu in the opening credits looking out the window is actually Goku in his body, there's something different about him there.

Why can't they just say that Goku Black is Future Goku resurrected by Zamasu using the Super Dragon Balls and controlled by him?

This is the approach I'm taking as well. There's no reason to start hating on Toei (Mr. Toriyama, actually) because we should've seen this coming already, ever since that scan that gave us our first insight into Zamasu.
