Spínola is flawless (or almost) as Beerus, definitely my favorite role in the dub. About the jokes, Beerus just said this today: "What? 26 minutes to reach Kaib's (Kai) planet? That's enough time to watch an episode of the anime!"

That's actually a line from the original (it dates back to Battle of Gods). It wasn't ad-libbed.

The script is spot on, they are pronouncing Kaioshin correctly, the voices are getting better. There seemed to be less jokes this time around (Loy had only a few lines as Piccolo, that's probably why).

Krillin and Yamcha seem to be voiced by Romeu Vala. Quite nice voices (waaaay better than Loy 's Krillin).

The changes to the opening and Trunks' voice and all will only be felt by episodes 6 or 7.
I'm guessing Piccolo still has that voice filter?

Piccolo has no filter. However, Loy's voice is so low it makes it sound like a filter.

Shit, they censored Kamesennin and Oolong's scene. Why? Seriously...

Video or dialogue censorship?

Video. Just like AB used to do. It just skips from Gohan saying Bulma happy birthday to the stills from the party. 44 seconds gone. It's RIDICULOUS. Seriously, this is the thing that disappoints me the most on this dub.

That's very odd... I think Toei has censored super enough already at production...

There's an entity that regulates TV channels here (ERC) that has become quite strict lately. That's probably the reason why the studios cut the scene.
I still think it's ridiculous, there are programs waaaay worse on syndication that are not censored.
I just hope they'll put the scene back in for reruns on SIC Radical.

It's true and I didn't even realize it! I doubt they'll uncensor it on the reruns though, because they didn't with DB and DBZ (like the scene where Freeza kills Krillin in namek... Yeah, they did) but who knows, right? And the new voices for Krillin and Yamcha are also nice indeed, quite different from the previous ones.

Also, anyone noticed they're dubbing "saiyajin" as simply "guerreiro" (= "warrior")? I know it's reduced from "guerreiro do espaço" ("space warrior", the term inicially introduced in DBZ) or "super guerreiro", but is it possible they're doing that to avoid stretching the dialogue?

They cut out 4 seconds of the Turtle Sage reading a porn magazine today.

The exact same cuts were made in the Hebrew dub as well in ep 3 and ep 4. Dunno if it's just a coincidence, though.
In ep 12 the elder Kaioshin's pervy antics were also removed in our dub, so be on the watch for that I guess.
alakazam^ wrote: I noticed two mistakes: they just mentioned the half year after Boo because of the wish but didn't say further time passed
Exact same thing occurred in the first ep of the Hebrew dub. There's maybe a chance Toei sent an English script around and countries are translating from it.

That said, I saw in an earlier post that the Port dub may have recorded a mistranslated line in ep 4? In the Hebrew dub that line was translated correctly

If that mistranslated line you mean is the one with Vegeta inside the gravity room, well, it wasn't corrected here.
Herms wrote:Minute: 16
Context: As Vegeta trains in the gravity chamber
Vegeta: “Even 150-fold gravity has outlived its purpose…”
Significance: “Outlived its purpose” in the sense of no longer being useful for training. Fansubs mistranslated this line as Vegeta saying a power level of 150,000 was no longer useful.
If I'm not mistaken, in the PT dub they did pretty much the same mistake but instead they said "a power level of 150Gs", which doesn't make much sense either.

Now the dreaded episode 5 approaches...

Not sure why it's dreaded. DBZ has much worse cases of alleged "bad animation". Although I'm curious if they got the improved version.

The guys from the Facebook page say it is NOT the Blu-Ray version but I doubt it. If the other countries are getting it, we are getting it too.

Welp, if we got the line from ep 4 correctly and you didn't, maybe you'll get the line from ep 5 correctly as opposed to us :V

If anyone's interested in comparing between lines from the Portuguese dub and the Hebrew dub in an attempt to find out if they were possibly translated from the same script, I don't mind covering the Hebrew side of things.

If we had a episode just about Roshi in Super, the only thing that would air would be the Opening, Ending and NEP, at this point.

-Episode 3 and 4-

I'm freaking satisfied with our Beerus and Whis. Spinola and his versatility surprises me to no end.
And Romeu is such a great addition to the cast. I didn't know him, so I can only clap. Not only because of his Whis, but because he's doing great as Krillin and Yamcha too.
He's good!

And here was I afraid, we would get Loy's Krillin again. Praise the Lord!

I'm surprised how they nailed C18, Gohan, Piccolo and Pilaf voices. I already knew Spinola could do Tenshinhan because he's always doing it on interviews.

Rui is doing a great narrator. I can feel our Legendary Tó Semedo influence on his work, but I can't like his Kaio. I don't think the voice was well choosen and it also needs much more energy.

Seems like he is the black sheep this time. In DBZ it was Victor Rocha's Vegeta and in GT it was Loy's Krillin.

Feist needs to work on his KidTrunks, but he already said he will so let's wait.

Who's voicing Elder Kaioshin? Feist?! That''s one of the old voices.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

Elder Kaioshin is voiced by Feist. Can't remember any character using that voice in Z though (other than random background characters).

The thing is, even in the Blu-ray version, episode 5 doesn't look good. At all. It just went from "oh my god how did this happen?!" to merely "bad".
