How did Onishi even pull off such a long cut anyway? Did they make him solely work on it from the start of Super?
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

The full cut is truly great.
Imagine what he could pull off now when the schedule of Super has reached a level of normalcy.
The sad thing is that Super's schedule seems to have gotten much more workable since that Onishi cut. If he only he stuck around for longer.

Some animators are talented enough to make the best of not so good working schedules and not so talented animators working along with them and still produce something great or at last decent. Tate has been doing that sort of stuff for Super since the beginning. Episode 5 is a prime example of that.

Where Onishi even went in the first place? We still don't know what show he's working on right now, do we?
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

He doesn't animate very often anymore , but he was a key animator for episode 1 of Tiger Mask today, which is only the second anime episode he's worked on since that episode of Super.

The storyboard of this episode was quite good but art was off many times during the episode. I got hyped for nothing tho...
Edit: The ending was really cute and the music was great!

Another standard affair in terms of animation, with nothing really that bad or great to talk about. The Vegeta/Black fight only lasted a few seconds as was alright but it could have been much more than what it was. The NEP, on the other hand, looks fantastic and action heavy as hell.

Good episode for Yui although there were some odd shots of Goku and Vegeta.
The animator of the ending isn't Yamamuro right? Maybe the quality of the streaming made me think it wasn't him.

There was a shot of Black that looked fucking awesome during the reveal. Anyone have that saved?

It doesn't look quite like Yamamuro, but I can't place who it is.

This episode was pretty standard, but the NEP looked pretty iffy.

Episode 60

Image

Animation supervisor
Ono Tsutomu Kinoshita Yui

Assistant animation supervisor
Kusunoki Tomoko Tanaka Chihiro

Key animator
MK Seoul Ohara Taiichiro Uchida Hiroyuki Toriyama Fuyumi Iwadare Mitsuki Ibata Yoshihide Iizuka Yoko Ono Tsutomu Nakamura Shinya Numata Hiroshi Hosokawa Shuuhei Tsugihashi Yuki Ishii Yumiko Funakoshi Mayumi Matsuki Yasunori Aritsubo Takaaki Hayase Makiko Nakashige Shunsuke Onishi Maiko Takagi Hiroaki Yamada Yoshinari Tsuchida Ryoun Nakaho Yukino Hashimoto Kouhei Fujiwara Kentaro Ishimoto Saki Kuma Mirai Komura Yuzuha Hanazawa Yuri Murakami Erina Kato Yoshitaka

===========

So Kinoshita wasn't heading this episode as we thought. Ono Tsutomu was top credited... whoever the hell that is? Welp, there goes the dream of a great Kinoshita episode. That looked pretty bad for the most part. Tsuji corrections and (presumably) Kinoshita's contributions were highlights, but eh, that wasn't great.

I'll be interested to see the full staff list. I can't imagine there were very many talents on board. Oh okay, so it was outsourced to Korea. That explains a lot. Also holy shit, Taiichiro Ohara! He was the best animator under Masayuki Uchiyama back in the day. How crazy that he popped up. Perhaps the rest of the episode was animated by freelancers? I don't know any of these names and their credits aren't all that consistent.

Shimanuki's episode next week looks absolutely unbelievable. As always, he continues to go to new heights, so at least that cheered me up after this week's nonsense.

We got a new ending, and unlike the others which were animated by Yamamuro, this was animated by Miyako Tsuji! She is everywhere and she is brilliant. If she took over Yamamuro's role, I would not complain.

This ending wasnt animated by Yamamuro? He's almost definitely doing an episode this arc then right?

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Hopefully not. Wasting an episode on him instead of someone like Shimanuki, or even Tate, would be horrible.

What I really liked from this episode was the flashback when Trunks was fighting with the androids.

That's what I thought when I noticed it wasn't Yamamuro.
Wouldn't be surprised if he is doing 64 or 65.

I didn't think the episode looked bad, just iffy at a few points. It's a shame that Kinoshita Yui wasn't actually leading though =(
The new ED not being done by Yamamuro is interesting, first he had a pretty hands off supervisor role with the new F animation and now we have an ED he didn't touch... I wonder if he's getting ready to leave or if he's busy with something like an episode or movie.

Excited for next week, I hope Shimanuki has some talent at his disposal. Looks like we're in for a 3 on 2 fight, very interesting. The Shimanuki art in the NEP looks solid, dude is really getting back into it.

Him doing an episode wouldn't be a waste at all. It would really give everyone else a lot of help to add some more polish to their own work.

Eh, 13 is still one of the best looking episodes in the show.
