Super Animation Catalogue 2.0
Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #60]
The Future Trunks flashback looked good but I wish we'd got more than just stills. Anything would have looked better than that god awful Uchiyama episode.
I don't think Kinoshita's style works for Dragon Ball. The pointy chins look really weird.

I just wish they'd stick to the designs they had for Future Trunks in the flashbacks though. He looks so much more aesthetically pleasing when he goes SSJ in those. Might just be the fact that he's rocking the tanktop, rather than the long jacket that hides everything, though.Avery wrote:The Future Trunks flashback looked good but I wish we'd got more than just stills. I agree!! Trunks SS definitely looks better with that Black top. It's like SSGSS with the old outfits on Vegeta and Goku.Heliocentrizzle wrote:I just wish they'd stick to the designs they had for Future Trunks in the flashbacks though. Kinoshita's not really a pointy chin person, this is her (presumably)Avery wrote:The Future Trunks flashback looked good but I wish we'd got more than just stills. Anything would have looked better than that god awful Uchiyama episode.

Almost everything we saw on the preview was from Kinoshita, and I think she makes pointy chins and also his noses are a little strange.ArchedThunder wrote:Kinoshita's not really a pointy chin person, this is her (presumably)Avery wrote:The Future Trunks flashback looked good but I wish we'd got more than just stills. The fourth Blu-Ray set comes out today.
Considering they didn't fix episode 24 in BD2 and in BD3 most the shots they fixed were shots that were okay in the first place, ignoring what really looked terrible, I don't have any hope for worthwhile corrections in this one.

I think if any episode is going to have corrections, it's going to be episode 41, but I'm not holding my breath. I'd also like to see episode 45 corrected, but again, probably won't happen.FortuneSSJ wrote:The fourth Blu-Ray set comes out today.

Yes, which would correct the issues, if you really want to be pedantic about it. It's an all encompassing term.ArchedThunder wrote:41 doesn't need corrections, it needs more animation.
Just like Mako's comedic monologues in Kill la Kill were corrected by removing frames, and how action in Little Witch Academia was corrected by adding motion.
It's all correction. It's not just about redrawing stills.

Your sentence was kinda like saying "41 doesn't need corrections, it needs corrections!" haha xD at the end the term "corrections" could include adding more animation hahaArchedThunder wrote:41 doesn't need corrections, it needs more animation.Ajay wrote:I think if any episode is going to have corrections, it's going to be episode 41, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm late to the party, I know, but I just got done watching episode 60 and, considering this episode was outsourced and hardly animated... it didn't look that bad. Off-putting Dragon Ball Super art usually jumps out to me, but I didn't notice anything too offensive my first time through. Maybe I was too wrapped up enjoying the story to notice? I'll definitely need to look more carefully the next time I watch it (whenever that will be).
That was incredible. Flippant Black is the best.Shuby wrote:LMAO whoever animated this is awesome https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LKT_IcyT-s

Sorry, I didn't know that. I've only ever seen the term used regarding the modification of artwork.Ajay wrote:

She worked on episode 51 too and there were many similarities between the two episodes, including the pointy chins and weird looking eyes for the female characters so I guess that's her style...unless the exact same team worked on both episodes and she didn't get to do much for either one? I don't know.ArchedThunder wrote:Kinoshita's not really a pointy chin person, this is her (presumably)Avery wrote:The Future Trunks flashback looked good but I wish we'd got more than just stills. I'm not 100% sure that it's her, either. The Wanpack staff change between episodes, but one thing remains consistent: that style. Here's 38, for example.Avery wrote:She worked on episode 51 too and there were many similarities between the two episodes, including the pointy chins and weird looking eyes for the female characters so I guess that's her style...unless the exact same team worked on both episodes and she didn't get to do much for either one? [/spoiler]Tsuji's corrections are all over the episode, which likely masks a lot of this, but you can still see it pop up.
Maybe it's Kusunoki's style? Or maybe Kusunoki is the one with the great style and Kinoshita's the iffy one. It's impossible to say for certain at this point. It has to be one of the two though, I'm sure, since that thick line work and very on-model style is present intermittently in almost all the Wanpack episodes, I believe.
I'm currently working on a total upgrade for the guide, so maybe I'll work it out when I reach Kinoshita and Kusunoki. I'm only a little way into Ishikawa, so it'll be a while!

I don't think anything will top Episode 57. That episode set the bar too damn high. And 56 was always very well animated. I think Shimanuki will have to to produce something really spectacular to top those two episodes. But the NEP gives me great hope that he could pull a rabbit out of the hat. He's been slowly but surely getting back to his best the more he's worked on Super and it's only a matter of time before he finds his groove again and starting producing on a regular basis for Super the same standard he provided for Z.BakaManiaHD wrote:Do you guys think that the next episode will look better than episode 57 or at least 56?

I hope so. This could be Shimanuki's moment and I hope hope hope he delivers. Not to forget Ootsuka Ken is storyboarding and if we're lucky he might do some key animation as well. The next episode has all the potential to be a great episode imo.BakaManiaHD wrote:Do you guys think that the next episode will look better than episode 57 or at least 56?

Shimanuki is one of my favourite supervisors, but I doubt he will pull off something better than episode 57. That episode was just unreal.BakaManiaHD wrote:Do you guys think that the next episode will look better than episode 57 or at least 56?
It may be better than episode 56 but even so, that episode was strong both in animation/art and writing.
Who knows?! But I'm glad he finally has the chance to take a major episode like this. With Ken Otsuka onboard they will manage to pull off cool stuff.
As for Shida, I believe he will appear in one of this episodes but it's not this week. I want to believe he will spoil us with a longer cut.
