5th Timeline? 6th Timeline?
This stuff is pretty confusing, even with the Guidebooks and some well-documented, thought out theories. From what we know a new timeline is created every time the time machine is used and a green time ring appears. When Whis, Beerus, and Goku visit Zamasu and Gowasu they learn there are 4 green rings and 1 silver one. The 4th one recently appeared (i'm assuming this would be because of Trunks coming back this time), but then they go to the future, got beat up, and went back AGAIN. There should now be a 5th green time ring. For all their good intent, Trunks and co. are making a huge mess of the timelines AND probably creating shifts in the natural history of our "Main" timeline just like the other androids appearing, or 16, etc.
Anyway, I was wondering, what are some theories on what this could mean, do you think these timelines will be erased or transformed into the new Universes that Zeno had previously destroyed (perhaps as a thank you to them saving the day in the end, so Trunks won't be erased from existence since none of this time-travel stuff should have occurred in the first place), and will this create more problems and potentially more versions of Zamasu and Black? Do you think they'll go down this route?
I personally don't think this arc is anywhere near finished and there will probably be more crazy stuff to come (U6 fighters to the rescue!). Also, I don't read spoilers or upcoming episode titles, so if I'm wrong about this arc not finishing up for awhile it's because it feels like there is much more story to tell here and this is only the beginning. The Android/Cell saga spiraled way out from where it started and had a lot of events going on too, so I feel like that's what's happening here.
Anyhow, any thoughts on these 2 new timelines?

Future Trunks keeps the time machine settings static. Round trips, in Dragon Ball Super, aren't splitting timelines. Splits should happen if settings were altered, however.
Personally, I'd find it poor form "erasing" split worlds. We have video game adaptions portraying this as unlikely. If we discount those continuities, consequences are still stripped and questionable implications arise. Is it really okay to annihilate entire realities for sake of tidiness? I speak more out-of-universe than the reverse, since I'm aware Zeno erased six universes on a whim. A vibe I'm receiving is that some want this accomplished so that Future Trunks will be "released" from an hellish world. His personal values and character are reinforced when he opts rebuild instead, I feel.

Where did you find that information? This is my main question, every single time the Time Machine has been used it's split timelines. Trunks to Frieza/King Cold, Cell to the past, Trunks to the Android battle, That's 3 plus the one Trunks came from. He goes back to get help for Black and creates a 5th. After they go to the future and back it should generate a 6th timeline.Nejishiki wrote:Future Trunks keeps the time machine settings static. And I agree, I think they should allow the extra timelines to exist but separated to individual universes. Existence is still existence even if it's just an alternate form and it would be pretty crummy to wipe them out simply to clean up.

You're timeline. He's timeline?
Are there any other timelines I should know about?

Re: 5th Timeline? 6th Timeline?
I wouldn't say every trip did that since three splits occurred overall. What's important is that identical round trips are acceptable. Problems only occur when settings are adjusted. For example, Cell didn't return to the era where Future Trunks saved Goku. He arrived in an alternate period where Goku hadn't recovered from his fate yet. The "road" (Dragon Ball Super) Future Trunks used arrives towards our era, with Beerus and whatnot. So far, they've consistently driven along the same pathway each time. Information related to keeping his time machine settings static is had in a Future Mai conversation.
Re: 5th Timeline? 6th Timeline?
We need to put together all the facts
HOT Timeline (History of trunks):
Future Zamasu is from this timeline
Goku is dead, Gowasu is dead.
Cell Timeline:
Goku is dead
Unknown about Zamasu
Unseen Timeline:
Goku is alive but is much weaker as he never died and Gohan never achieved SSJ2, Cell was never a threat. Very much doubt Goku would then go on to challenge Zamasu.
Main Timeline:
Zamasu killed by Beerus
Gowasu is alive
We see there are 5 time rings altogether, implying 5 timelines ( one was created recently according to Gowasu)
Putting this all together, i am 99% sure Black originates from another timeline. Black said he had fought Goku as a SSJ2 (When black was still in Zamasu's body), this has only happened in the main timeline. So there must have been a timeline split after this event. However i cannot propose a theory. Anyone piece all this together to propose a theory?
