Just Saturdays, I believe.

Are they going to show the entire series?

They didn't show the whole thing last time. They just started at the beginning of the Android arc and stopped somewhere in the middle. Hopefully snce they're going from the beginning this time they'll keep it on all the way through.

But if they are only going to show 1 episode per Saturday don't you think that will be too long?

Only five and a half years. Have some patience, geez.

No, Brian Drummond is awesome, and is much better suited for Vegeta than Chris Sabat.
I disagree. Ocean's dub had his voice extremely raspy and high pitched. He sounded like Butta. Then again I grew up with FUNi's dub so I might be a little biased.

I really hope it's the Ocean dub... For nostalgia's sake.

Ocean group is/was good but FUNi is the best dub, IMO. Seeing how the all of the games and fans are familiar with the FUNi dub, there's a good chance we'll see that instead. As for the news, I'd be excited over this..years ago. I'm a bit happy that they're showing this but why now? To promote the boxsets? Just to fill a time slot? They should just stop showing Bleach on AS and show it on Toonami so it can get more popular! [/rant]

I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

I can see what you're saying. Though my bias is in the opposite direction because I started out with the Ocean dub and got attached to Dragonball Z through that.

I can still quote some of those cheesy Vegetas lines from back then.

"I eat punks like you for my morning breakfast!"

I'm getting so old... :(

"You won't escape... My WRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH!!!!!!!"

Nothing beats that... We even have an inside joke with my friends about Goku's father being a brilliant scientist. >_>

I finally saw that on YouTube and to me, it wasn't that great. Haven't seen the Chris Sabat version to compare, but I'm assuming that it's neither better nor worse.

Why? Why is everyone always praising the Ocean dub as the better English dub when compared to FUNimation's dub? I can understand if people like it because of some nostalgic value that it may hold to them. I'm a complete fan of the original Japanese, but if I would have to choose between Ocean cast and FUNimation I would choose FUNi. Why? Because that's what I first saw.

I've never said it was better, and I've never said it was worse. I think that it's kinda silly that people go around saying:
"blah blah blah, Ocean>>>FUNi Chris Sabat smokes too much!"

I realize that I've brought some flaming onto myself by dissing the almighty Brian Drummond, so to get back on topic... Who really cares if Cartoon Network is going to air DBZ again? It will probably be an edited version, and it will probably be taken off the air soon because people will lose interest. I already have, so I'm out.

It wasn't like that. He was still pretty pissed. It was kind of how it was in the manga, only slightly different.

For me it's because the majority of the Ocean cast could actually act. I do however prefer certain voices in FUNimation's dub like Tenshinhan. :P

I remember a few weeks ago, Toonami was celebrating it's anniversary or something and continued to show retrospective videos all night. Most of it was Dragonball Z... made me miss the good old days of coming home from school for a 2 hour block of Dragonball/DBZ.

Ah, nostalgia. :)

But I'm a little confused about why they suddenly want to show a few DBZ episodes, as well. :? If only they'd replace 4kid's One Piece with it...

Aside from nolstalgic value, I feel that the acting is better and that the voices sound less forced. That's why I'm praising the Ocean cast.
I've never said it was better, and I've never said it was worse. I think that it's kinda silly that people go around saying:
"blah blah blah, Ocean>>>FUNi Chris Sabat smokes too much!"
I don't think it's so much the acting in the "wrath" scene that kills it for me. When comparing both scenes I felt it was more of an issue of the lines themselves. When Chris Sabat does that scene Vegeta is saying something completely different and it doesn't give me that same feel of a very deranged, pissed off Vegeta that makes me fear for the heroes. He just seems like he's kinda pissed and is going to bloody a few noses.

The only place I can think of in terms of classic dub lines where it was the acting and not the line itself is the "over 9000" thing. I just simply like Drummond's version better. He fit the outh flaps better and it seemed more natural. That, and there was no need for an extra grunt at the end to make it fit.
I realize that I've brought some flaming onto myself by dissing the almighty Brian Drummond,
He was kind of almighty back when he got away from DBZ where people learned of him and started doing other things like Zechs from Gundam Wing... but nowadays I'd say the "almighty" title goes to Steve Blum.
so to get back on topic... Who really cares if Cartoon Network is going to air DBZ again? It will probably be an edited version, and it will probably be taken off the air soon because people will lose interest. I already have, so I'm out.
Have fun being out. Hopefully next time you're in my thread you'll talk more about Drummond and Sabat with me because, quite frankly, I hate it when people come into threads just to say that they have nothing to say.
