What is Mafuba? Why is it a BAD idea to use on Zamasu?
Hey, guys, so I made a THEORY video about these questions I had and I think my 2. Theory is really possible and that might happen in the upcoming episodes, if Goku were to use the Mafuba, could you please watch it and give your thoughts on this?

Well the only things that jumps to mind about it being a bad idea are A) the user would die and there are no dragon balls left in Trunks's universe as far as we know. The Namekian one might still be around but Black could have also destroyed them as well. And B) It only seals them away, meaning the problem is not gone and one day they might escape just like King Piccolo did.

A) Yeah, thats exactly the same idea that popped into my head.Lord Frieza wrote:Well the only things that jumps to mind about it being a bad idea are A) the user would die and there are no dragon balls left in Trunks's universe as far as we know. B) They could take the sealed zamasu back into the present and wish for zamasus eradication, or his erase him from the history all together

Depends who uses it, if say Goku does it, i doubt he would die considering how powerful he is. Especially since kami and Piccolo jr used it fine with no threat to their life.
Re: What is Mafuba? Why is it a BAD idea to use on Zamasu?
So it's likely will be used on Supreme Zamasu, and it won't work because:
1.) Mafuuba basically puts the deliquent in a pocket dimension, but Supreme Zamasu can teleport out, because Black knows instant transmission.
2.) These imprisoning techniques usually not work on stronger opponents, like when Shen tried the Mafuuba on Piccolo, or when Buuhan tried to imprison Vegetto. It likely won't work on the supreme form of Zamasu.

Kami did use it but failed, going from the manga it will only kill you if you succeed in using it on your enemy. Kami didn't. Piccolo's attack is not the Mafuba but a technique to reverse its.
Re: What is Mafuba? Why is it a BAD idea to use on Zamasu?
Does Mafuba always kill its user? Or it demands a large amount of energy to perform? Does it depend on the person's power you are trying to imprison?
Re: What is Mafuba? Why is it a BAD idea to use on Zamasu?
I'm guessing the second one, otherwise Kami wouldn't have bothered in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai. (Sorry for possible misspellings, I'm using a phone ATM.)Hugo Boss wrote:Does Mafuba always kill its user? Or it demands a large amount of energy to perform?

Mafuuba [Demon Seal Wave]
First Appearance: Chapter 135
Category: special
People: Kami, Kame-sennin, Tenshinhan, Mutaito
Special Characteristics: A secret art which Kame-sennin’s master, Mutaito, devised in order to seal up Piccolo Daimao, the incarnation of evil. Firing all one’s life energy from the palm of your hands, this creates a violent, spiraling wind which draws in the opponent, sealing them like this into an airtight container affixed with magic charms. A normal person will perish when they use this secret art. Kame-sennin fired it at the revived Piccolo Daimao in exchange for his own life, but it ultimately failed. (Daizenshuu 2, p.207/Daizenshuu 4, p.113)
This is the Mafuba's entry in the Daizenshuu. It fires what's literally described as being all of the person's genki. That would account for the viridescent cyclone shown as the victim is being trapped, as well as the user's ability to control the winds since it's technically their own Ki creating the effect. The other two segments of this description which caught my eye were the parts concerning how the containment is actually held together and the specifying of a "normal person" dying while using the technique. Kami is technically a deity who separated half of his essence into another being and is intrinsically linked in survivability with his evil counterpart. It's circumstantially different from when Roshi attempted the Mafuba.
Secondly, we don't know anything specific regarding the perspective awareness of the victim inside the container. Daimao had apparently aged but that's the extent of our knowledge as to what happens. Also, I doubt Zamasu would be capable of escaping. The magical charms used to fasten the prison closed should be highly specialised and potent. If teleporting out were possible then Kami would have managed it since he is capable of teleporting, as shown when he arrived at Yemma's to bring Goku back to Earth.

As someone pointed out, we do not know the perspective of who is inside the container, we do not know if he can perform some kind of action at all.KayDash wrote:So it's likely will be used on Supreme Zamasu, and it won't work because:

However, although Black somehow inherited all of Goku's techniques (I still don't know why), this does not apply to Future Zamasu, who doen't seem to know Goku's "instant transmission". He probably knows kaioshin's "kai kai" technique instead...

Re: What is Mafuba? Why is it a BAD idea to use on Zamasu?
I am almost 100% sure that Mafuba will be a plot point that will lead nowhere. I can see them referring to it and Goku saying "naaaah I don't want to seal him, I want to fight him".
At this point I am pretty much supporting the Gogeta idea+spirit bomb later. Maybe throw Blamasu or Zack in a black hole after separating him? Have Bulma gather the namekian dragonballs and asking for Blamasu to turn to two people. Have Gogeta or SsjBlue2 Vegeta beat Black with some help from SsjSsjGod Trunks and then have Goku forming a Spirit Bomb and throwing Zamasu in a black hole forever.

The way you want things to happen is the most predictable and boring way possible.Mazingerdestro wrote:I am almost 100% sure that Mafuba will be a plot point that will lead nowhere. I can see them referring to it and Goku saying "naaaah I don't want to seal him, I want to fight him".

If anything I think they are gonna succeed in sealing the fusion of Black and Zamas (or one of them in case it happens earlier) and whoever is sealed, breaks out.Mazingerdestro wrote:I am almost 100% sure that Mafuba will be a plot point that will lead nowhere. Mafuba is a sealing technique that can be reversed by everyone. Making mafuba pretty much unbeatable just to seal someone who is smarter, stronger and in general more skilled than pre z Piccolo makes no sense.namekiansaiyan wrote:The way you want things to happen is the most predictable and boring way possible.Mazingerdestro wrote:I am almost 100% sure that Mafuba will be a plot point that will lead nowhere. Fusion+wish+spirit bomb is boring for you? I would like to hear your version. (No joke)
Re: What is Mafuba? Why is it a BAD idea to use on Zamasu?
I would like to hear why you think a Black Hole could do anything against Zamas. Someone who can teleport would not be stuck in it forever, not spaghettified, nothing.Mazingerdestro wrote: Fusion+wish+spirit bomb is boring for you? I would like to hear your version. (No joke)

Just out of curiosity...
Doesn't the Mafuba kill the user?
What if they freed Garlic Jr., taught him the Mafuba, and told him to use it on Future Zamasu?
Or had someone wish for immortality?
Basically, what if someone who has immortality from Shenron/Super Shenron/Porunga tries to use the Mafuba?
Does it fail?

Not every used and successful Mafuba killed and not every failed Mafuba didn't kill. And in case of Garlic Jr. it would probably not affect him. He surely would be very exhausted because that is the point of the Mafuba though.Sailor Haumea wrote:Just out of curiosity...

It is how they use Mafuba and how they get it to work. It has also not been used in a long time.Mazingerdestro wrote:Mafuba is a sealing technique that can be reversed by everyone. The easiest way to win any fight would to just make them stronger and spirit bomb has been used many times already. Fusion is also just another easy way to win. Your idea to is just the worst and most predictable fan fiction.

Yeah, you didn't answer the question he asked though, what is your idea of how they'd win that is better than "predictable fan fiction"? I'm interested too, looking to get as many different takes on how this arc could play out. Instead of doing this fan-fiction solution how do you think they should beat them? In detail.namekiansaiyan wrote: It is how they use Mafuba and how they get it to work. It has also not been used in a long time.
