It's called a preference. I used to use it. My brother uses it (well, he just says "Black" now). Why is it so wrong?MajinMan wrote:"Black Goku."

Cause it's kinda racist. Not enough where it should cause a backlash, but more then enough to make people feel a bit uncomfortable.Anime Kitten wrote:It's called a preference. I used to use it. My brother uses it (well, he just says "Black" now). Why is it so wrong?MajinMan wrote:"Black Goku."

I agree, but I don't get how Black as an adjective could really do that. I guess the best way to describe it is, "It sounds racist."Soppa Saia People wrote:Cause it's kinda racist. Not enough where it should cause a backlash, but more then enough to make people feel a bit uncomfortable.

I see no other real reason why anyone would have a problem with the name "Goku Black" or "Black Goku" besides racial connections... and if someone can't even mention that without receiving threats of "coming back" at that person, well, then I couldn't even think of a better demonstration of the oversensitivity of the issue.Soppa Saia People wrote:Let's not.

It's an evil version of a character, and he's called Black Goku. That's a tug of the shirt moment.Anime Kitten wrote:I agree, but I don't get how Black as an adjective could really do that. I see your point, but I think it's a bit immature to just say, it's people being over sensitive.I see no other real reason why anyone would have a problem with the name "Goku Black" or "Black Goku" besides racial connections... and if someone can't even mention that without receiving threats of "coming back" at that person, well, then I couldn't even think of a better demonstration of the oversensitivity of the issue.

Nobody here even mentioned having a problem with his actual name, "Goku Black". Black Goku isn't his name.rereboy wrote: I see no other real reason why anyone would have a problem with the name "Goku Black" or "Black Goku" besides racial connections... and if someone can't even mention that without receiving threats of "coming back" at that person, well, then I couldn't even think of a better demonstration of the oversensitivity of the issue.
Calling him that sounds kinda racist. Like, Soppa Saiya People said above, it's not that bad but it's very uncomfortable. It's a matter of what's right and what's wrong. And I will admit that me saying I'm gonna "come back" was too much but I was mainly talking about getting into an argument about this and giving you replies.

Humans instinctively fear darkness and whatever dwells in it, and thus fear that there is evil within it. It's not about really race until we start thinking about that.Soppa Saia People wrote:It's an evil version of a character, and he's called Black Goku. Black Gokuu would not be even remotely rascist. But his name was given as Gokuu Black, so we should stick with that or just Black (used in series)
Re: Things that grind your gears
Fine. I see you guy's point.

Re: Things that grind your gears
Is it, actually? I find it much more mature to be able to identify why people get uncomfortable with that, and to be able to realize that people still get uncomfortable over small things like that because, unfortunately, race is still a very big issue all over the world and, because it is still such a big issue instead of already being a much smaller issue, people are still aware and sensitive regarding anything that can have racial connections, unlike how they would be if the issue was much less important. If it was a much smaller issue, if we had already made much more progress towards surpassing those issues, people in general would naturally be much less aware and sensitive regarding anything with possible racial connections.Soppa Saia People wrote: I see your point, but I think it's a bit immature to just say, it's people being over sensitive.
Imo, the mature attitude is facing and admitting things.
Read my response to Soppa Saiya People. Like I said, I just identified the issue. You saw what you wanted to see instead and went overboard with it.Bansho64 wrote: Nobody here even mentioned having a problem with his actual name, "Goku Black". Black Goku isn't his name.

Re: Things that grind your gears
I know it has been adressed already, but my reasoning has nothing to do with any implied racism or whatever. The fact is that his name is Goku Black. He is never, ever called "Black Goku" in the show, merchandising, or spoilers. Just because "Black Goku" sounds more correct does not make it so. It's reminding me of the whole "Bills vs Beerus" situation, although it's not exactly the same. Just calling him Black is perfectly fine though.Anime Kitten wrote:It's called a preference. People who say "Bills" or "Beeurs" instead of Beerus. It's a double pun on "virus" and "beer". The first two do not accomplish that. You're ruining the joke.
People who say "Bluma" instead of Bulma.
People who call the Androids by the Japanese word for android. Seriously, what the fuck? Not even the Viz translation does that.
People who say "Raichi" instead of "Lychee".
People who say "Mirai" instead of "Future".
If you mention Android 18, people understand. If you mention Jinzoningen 18 to the average person, they have no goddamn idea what you're talking about.

What's wrong with this? MistareFusion pretty much explains that it's a logical and accurate way to say here. Although, he spells it Blooms instead of "Bluma".Sailor Haumea wrote: People who say "Bluma" instead of Bulma.

Its because they are NOT androids, otherwise 18 would have never been able to have children. They are Cyborgs or Artificial Humans. I do agree that its annoying to see Jinzouningen juuhachi-go but I have NEVER seen anyone do that, even here.Sailor Haumea wrote:People who say "Bills" or "Beeurs" instead of Beerus. Who the hell is Lychee? Is that a character from Dragon Ball?
The intended spelling for Bulma is "Bloomers". But I hate it so I ignore it.

TheDevilsCorpse uses Jinzoningen EXCLUSIVELY.
Lychee was the antagonist of the OVA "Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans" and its remake "Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans".
