2nd new demo for the DBZ movie 3 R29 fandub trailer.

Post by Conan the SSJ » Wed Apr 04, 2007 1:36 pm

For some reason, it would not upload to YouTube, so I'm sorry some of you guys can't just stream this. Anyway, here's where to DL at MegaUpload, and believe me when I say you'll ge a more clear idea of what I envision for the final version of the trailer, now with narration compliments of JKD-kid. The volume tweaking isn't perfect, as this is still unfinished, but I think you'll all get the idea. Here's the description I was gonna put on YouTube:

"This here is a trailer-demo for the 'Room 29' produced fandub of DragonBall Z movie 3 'Tree of Might', or as we're calling it, 'Sacred Tree'. The actual fandub is being made entirely for fun, no profit will be made or attempted to be gained from it and the sole distribution outside downloading will be made in very limited quantities of free DVDs given to the cast and hard workers on the fandub. (Yes, indeed, it'll be the 5th or possibly even 6th known English dub of this DBZ movie) The finished version of my trailer for this fandub will have voice acting from all of those whom are cast to work on it, though at the time of this typing, a Goku is not yet selected. This here is actually the second demo of this trailer I've released, the first is available on an obscure MegaUpload link for download if anyone's interested, it basically featured how my trailer will be viewed footage and music wise with the dialogue being timed in subtitles. This time around, I've lent my own voice (via a pretty crummy mic) as Yamcha and Oozaru-Gohan, while a very talented fella' I've gotten to meet on the Daizenshuu EX forums recently provided the narration (JKD-kid I believe his name is). All the info you may wanna get on this fandub can be found on the Daizenshuu EX message board, though this fandub is not endorsed or involved with its mods. With that said, enjoy!"

Let me know what you all think!

The narrator sounds a lot like piccolo to me. My only complaint is that I was getting some kind of metallic feedback every time the narrator spoke, but it wasn't that big of a deal.

For those who haven't caught it yet, I had a chance to upload the video on YouTube. So if you haven't seen it yet, watch it now. Good job BTW, Conan.

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Trailer v.2, now with narration. I agree, JKD-kid does sound a bit like Piccolo (His previous trailer work sounded a bit more convincing =P), but that's all good. Like before, the sound's a bit wonky (and the whole Requiem for a Dream thing).

Now I feel like doing a new teaser. Just cause =P

Very nice narrating here, the deep voice really worked for me here... the Oozaru roar was kind of a let down in my humble opinion, I was hoping for something a little better, hopefully it can be worked better in. :)

Not that my opinion matters, but it just didn't feel right to me.

It's all about having fun though, so I wish you good luck with the project.

I just feel the voices could have been blended with the footage a little better. I have done a few fan dubs of my own and it takes a little bit of tweaking to get them to sound right.

anyway, When I think oozaru, I think more like this

http://www.angelfire.com/ct2/cwabackyar ... oozaru.mp3

just a quick snip it of what some pitch changing and echo can do.

About the Oozaru yell, yes that wasn't my best in comparison to my Oozaru fandub audition, but part of the blame can be put on the fact I need a new mic and my Oozaru is pretty straining on my voice anyway. Heck, I can't make myself sound like the animalistic sounds of the Japanese version's, so I'm more or less going with as wild a yelling/groaning voice I can; similar to that VA FUNi had in GT's dub. Sorry if my demo's disappointing any of ya'. There is still time where I can make a change to the final version of the trailer instrumental if anyone has any 4 minute songs in mind.

It's really hard to make animal noises, the clip i posted is basically a generic yell, but I tweaked the speed, pitch, and added an echo.

I recommend downloading the program audacity, it's free and can do a lot more than sound recorder. I use it to even out some of my clips if the sound a bit awkward.

Dude, omega, that was a freaking awesome yell. The one thing I hate doing is yelling :)

Trust me, it's mostly editing.
