Toy Deals and a Kids TV deal...
So now that a Kid Friendly Toy Line from Bandai (Not Tamashii stuff aimed at colectors) and the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG delay to bring Super to the Americas, could this mean a Kids TV deal for Super?
Kix will definitely air it in the UK,same for Cartoon Networ in Latin America, but the USA and Canada arent as clear.
I really hope Nicktoons gets it, they treated Kai just right the last time. I DO NOT trust Disney XD.
Of course, all this is only if Toonami on Adult Swim doesnt get it. They are the major shoo in for the license.

Re: Toy Deals and a Kids TV deal...
I'd much prefer it land on a kids' block as opposed the late-night incarnation of Toonami. Though the current market isn't kind to after-school action serials, so we'll see where it ends up.
Landing on a kids' block would be great though.

I know they were controversial, but I REALLY miss Toonzai/Vortexx, because many kids did watch them. And because of the way the TV deal works they could air both on Nicktoons and on The CW. Sure Toonami outdid both put together (1 million on The CW and 750K on Nicktoons against Toonami's 2 million), but it was nice to see the DB anime being aimed at kids for perhaps the last time.

Re: Toy Deals and a Kids TV deal...
Landing Super on a kids channel would be pretty cool. Give kids a chance to have it like they had with Kai. Especially since action cartoons sadly aren't as huge as they once were over here in the US.
There wouldn't even need to be much to edit out since there is hardly any blood as is, and anyone who needs "cursing" and other big boy words in their dragonball can have that when the DVD/ Blue ray comes out. Or however else you decide to catch it.

I'd rather have Cartoon Network go back to the olden days where Toonami was an actual afternoon action block that aired during the week instead of apart of Adult Swim. Super airing on an airtime like that would be cool.

CN is not the same as they use to be. This is not the same network that most of us grew up with from 15-20 years ago. I think CN would put DBS at very very early in the morning like 5 AM. They don't like third party shows that much. If we get Super on a kids network, we will could see it return back on Nick Toons.

Re: Toy Deals and a Kids TV deal...
Super really needs to be on a kids network to truly thrive and have longevity in the West. Sticking the show on Toonami at 12:00AM will gain an audience but not the widespread kind of audience that Bandai and Toei would be aiming for.

UK wise all the stations rejected it because it's too violent apparently. And looks like we'll have to settle for home video here. Sucks.

How do you know that? Kix have kai so that does not make much sense.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:UK wise all the stations rejected it because it's too violent apparently. And looks like we'll have to settle for home video here. Sucks.

Dragon Ball Super was rejected because it was too violent? If UK stations think Super is violent (even though Kix had no problem airing Kai) their standards must have reached an all-time-low.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:UK wise all the stations rejected it because it's too violent apparently. Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

Re: Toy Deals and a Kids TV deal...
Jerome head of MangaUK went to a brand licensing event this week, confirmed that stations rejected Super because it was too violent and not there looking for, your right Kix aired Kai and Super is a lot less toned down so I'm thinking it's just BS reason they've given and for some reason they just don't want Super. Plus Toei europe announced a slew of licenses but UK wasn't part of them.namekiansaiyan wrote:How do you know that? Kix have kai so that does not make much sense.
Definitely UK kids TV is pretty shitty anyway. All I've seen advertised all month is this new crappy Ben10 reboot I just end up watching Boomerang they show old shows a lot. 11minute weird comedy short shows are the way of the game now.Dragon Ball Ireland wrote:Dragon Ball Super was rejected because it was too violent? Re: Toy Deals and a Kids TV deal...
Are you fucking kidding me!? There has to be more to this. I mean, that fact that Kai made it on the airwaves and Super got turned down for being "too violent" makes this situation all the more strange. Damn. I mean... damn. I really hope something changes, because if not, it looks it's just DVDs and Blu-Rays for us.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:UK wise all the stations rejected it because it's too violent apparently. I have to also question which stations they specifically approached. Because if it was all the kids based channels, then fucking hell, standards have reached an all time for what kids show are considered "too violent".

Nearly everything on the kids channels in thr UK is crap. I think anime is the best thing any of these channels can do as it will bring in a wide audience.Lord Beerus wrote:Are you fucking kidding me!? There has to be more to this. Just got to hope that someone sets up a dedicated Anime channel.

That will never happen. Anime has too niche of an audience to justify having an entire channel dedicated towards it on TV.namekiansaiyan wrote:Nearly everything on the kids channels in thr UK is crap. I know, but how can these kids channels say no to shonen anime, the kids will surely like it more.Lord Beerus wrote:That will never happen. Re: Toy Deals and a Kids TV deal...
Couldn't agree more, as I said earlier Boomerang is currently the only saving grace of UK childrens TV. I am sure CITV maybe an option for Toei they do air some Digimon stuff and Pokemon, so I hope Toei go to them if they haven't already.namekiansaiyan wrote:Nearly everything on the kids channels in the UK is crap. Re: Toy Deals and a Kids TV deal...
It is an absolute tragedy that the UK will not be airing Dragon Ball Super.
The Turner execs don't want anything on in the UK that may "rock the boat" so to speak.
Children's TV stations in the UK are just crammed with inoffensive, dour and boring programming.
Action cartoons are fast becoming a thing of the past - they want "safe" shows, and anything that may get a PG rating, just isn't suitable for them.
The shame about it is the people making the decisions likely know absolutely nothing about what they're passing on, only that it contains moderate levels of violence, and that is enough to make them shudder with fear.
UK children aren't being given the opportunity to see if they like shonen anime, the decision is being made for them - likely by people with no idea as to what the product is about.
No doubt they have various University degrees and experience in the TV industry - but no knowledge whatsoever as to if the show will do well - only that it contains content they don't want on their network.
A real travesty, and crying shame for all of my fellow UK fans.

This makes me yearn for the days were Pretty Cure aired uncut right next to Zoey 101 on Pop Girl. Man, Television used to have balls then!
