When did Toei ever complain about "Over 9000"? If we're talking about faithfulness then lets bear in mind that Toei were the ones who forced Funimation to add the Z to Kai's name. And as far as them caring about the franchise beyond a financial level lets bear in mind that they were the ones who threw out the Japanese Broadcast masters to save space.TVfan721 wrote:And the unnecessary shitting that you're giving Toei is laughable. They actually DO care about the franchise more than you might think and they care a lot more now about the dubs being faithful. Were talking about a company here that gave Funimation a hard time because they wanted to keep the "It's over 9000" line rather than the accurate 8000 line.qjz123 wrote:TOEI is holding out giving Super to Funimation because they're waiting for Buu Kai (which was created for us in the first place) to air on TV so that they can follow it up with Super.
The whole 'Is Toei afraid Funimation will make alterations' is laughable. You give Toei way too much credit, as long as it makes money they'd be ok with anything, even what 4kids did to One Piece...
As far as the original score, I don't doubt that they did have awful source material but I doubt that was the key motivation behind replacing it, probably just a part of it.
Chris Sabat reveals another reason why the music was changed. (and is open to changing Super's score)

That was with Disney though. When they are alone sky is the limit.Wasn't Toei directly responsible for Data Squad, though? It was treated like any other series, wasn't it?
Still, I think this opinion is a little unexpected coming from Sabat, assuming we've interpreted it correctly. Especially considering Sean Schemmel seems to be very against changing things.

So Sabat disliked the Faulconer score but doesn't mind a replacement score for Super?
"It was deemed to be too awesome." - Scott McNeil on Dragon Ball Kai not being aired yet in Canada.

They shouldn't change Super's score. I was perfectly happy with them replacing the old Dragon Ball Z score because it was awful but it'd be completely unnecessary to replace Super's.

That's pretty much how I feel on this matter. If it was Toei replacing it with Kikuchi, then I'm fully on board with this.Bullza wrote:They shouldn't change Super's score. I was angry with them replacing the old Dragon Ball Z score because it was beautiful and it'd be completely unnecessary for them to replace Super's.

FUCK NO! Remember that the Latin American dub may depend on the Funimation materials, so if they get the replacement score so will we. AND I WILL HATE FUNIMATION FOREVER IF THEY DO!
Say whatever you want about Sumitomo but the movies sold pretty well without replacing his music. Why should the TV show be diferent?
