Is that every one of the (main) characters has a reason to defeat the villains. Most of the other villains in the series just had a connection to Goku but ended up being defeated by someone else (Cell), a connection to Goku and ended up being defeated by Goku (Piccolo), a connection to Goku and Vegeta (Freeza), or no connection at all but ended up being defeated by Goku anyway (Boo).
Trunks has a reason to be the one to defeat Zamasu since it's his future and Black killed Bulma; Goku has a reason to defeat Zamasu since Black took his body and killed his family; Vegeta probably has the most underwhelming reason, but Zamasu and Black still hurt his son and his (future) family. Even Beerus has a reason to act, due to Zamasu fucking up with time and killing all of the other Gods.

You make a good point, Doctor. Zamasu feels like the first villain in the franchise that has proper ties with the central cast. He feels like a villain with such a grand scope on what he wants to achieve that it adversely affects so many people, or at the very least, provides certain characters with a motivation to want to kill him.

Re: One thing I like about this arc
I sorta disagree.
King Piccolo made things personal for Goku by killing indirectly killing Krillin and Master Roshi. He also made things personal for Tien by murdering Chaozu before his eyes.
Vegeta and Nappa made things personal by directly and indirectly murdering all the Z-Fighters except Gohan and Krillin, and it wasn't from a lack of trying.
Freeza, made things personal with Goku by killing Krillin and threatening Gohan. Was personal for Vegeta because he blew up his planet, all but wiped out his race, enslaved Vegeta and treated him like dirt. For Piccolo, he murdered his people to gain control of the Dragon Balls.
Androids/Cell, I do agree with this one since the only one who had any real personal beef with them would be Trunks. Gohan didn't get a personal reason with Cell until he killed Goku.
Buu, he murder everyone on Earth except for a few named characters. That is reason enough for Goku, Vegeta, or anyone else to hate his guts and take killing him personally. Even the Supreme Kai had personal reason for stopping Buu since he murdered and absorbed all his mentors and friends.
Zamasu and Black really don't seem that special, except that managed to royally piss Goku off.
