Man it was a good episode. I wonder what Super could have done with regular production.ArchedThunder wrote:Many scenes in Super do have impact to the blows, it just depends on the scene and/or episode.

Do you know what I miss more from DBZ? those extremely impactful hits that show how strong the fighters were, and they used to come from the one I think is the most overestimated animator in super, Naoki Tate.

And I don't really think that's something extra hard to do, it's a thing of camera shake control and effect lines
Definitely could bring more impact during goku rage in last episode

The sound effects are more to blame than the animation for the less impactful hits in Super.

^^^ This, but the sound effects are getting better, I love the new teleporting sound effect, and the stabbing sound effect really does sound good as if it was cutting real flesh. A long way from the dull and boring ones we got at BoG arcSaikyo no Senshi wrote:The sound effects are more to blame than the animation for the less impactful hits in Super.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 61
Sound effects have everything to do with everything. Seriously.
Shida's cut with Arai's sound effects: It's not just the impact sounds, it's everything in the mix.
While animation certainly affects impact, it's only a small part of things.
Super's sound design is just not very good.

I never in my life realized before now how much difference can sound effects make.

Yeah it does.

Shuby wrote:Yes they do, but you'll be just fooling yourself if you say that those scenes have the same "impact" or even close to what Z had and the thing is those clips were just to show and compare Z with Super , which everyone should. Super is in many ways a downgrade to it's predecessor. Super also uses repeated animation but the way Z does ,it just delivers just compare ssj 3 goku vs Kid Buu to just anything Super related you would think ssj3 is stronger then SSJB if you did not know any better.ArchedThunder wrote:Many scenes in Super do have impact to the blows, it just depends on the scene and/or episode.
(not all clips are action in these folders)

48 and 57 are great examples, the action in these episodes has about as much weight as Z.
The only fluid part of that Z clip is in the middle, most of it is just quick repeating frames with very little animation.Sodhi wrote:You are not wrong. There are so many stills used in the Super episode's clip. However in the dbz one, lots of camera shake, fluid movements, fast paced action and a waay better production. Super is like what it is mainly because of production problems, it feels like I have said that more than 100 times now

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 61
The sound certainly helps, but it wouldn't hurt to have some speedlines and some shake to the punches and blasts.
One of the few instances where they nailed the feeling was in the first Trunks vs Black fight. Aside from that they seem weaker than they were in Z.

Only problem i have with this is blacks teleportation sounds. It's supposed to be different compared to Goku's and I like the current sound.Ajay wrote:Sound effects have everything to do with everything. Seriously.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 61
I honestly don't even notice the old sounds effects being missing nor do I really mind the new ones anymore.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

I guess we know where Onishi Yoichi was, he was the supervisor of the latest Tiger Mask episode.

That's depressing. I hope Toma didn't go over to Tiger Mask or Digimon, Super can't afford to lose any of its supervisors.Sodhi wrote:I guess we know where Onishi Yoichi was, he was the supervisor of the latest Tiger Mask episode.
Hopefully when Digimon and Tiger Mask are over in about a year Super can absorb some of the staff from those shows.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 61
The good news is that they are series with limited episode count. Hopefully we get a lot of staff when they end.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 61
And depending on how many breaks Super has from now till when those shows end as well as any improvements to the schedule at the beginning of the next arc hopefully a fair amount of those animators will stick around because the schedule won't murder them.Sodhi wrote:The good news is that they are series with limited episode count. How many episodes is the new Digimon going to be? I can't find any info on that. Hopefully it's closer to the length of the Digimon series before the most recent one and not 79 like Xros.
Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 61
Tbh, I have no clue either, however I do know it's going to be limited episode count

Very iffy art and animation. Next week looks awesome though.

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0 - Episode 61
The episode didn't look nearly as bad as I expected honestly. First half was rough and the fight was far from good, but it wasn't painful like 24 or 45. The rest of the episode looked pretty solid, the Mafuba training was done pretty well too.
NEP looks fuckin insane!

Episode 62
Animation supervisor

Key animator
Kitano Yukihiro Nashizawa Koji Tu Yeong-chaek Yagi Genki Tomiki Yumiko Hirabayashi Takashi Mura Shuntaro TAP

Pretty much as expected. Nothing mindbogglingly awful, but a lackluster follow-up to a great episode that reeked of, "Hey, we don't have enough time or talented staff to do this many action episodes in a row".
At least we got to see (presumably) Nashizawa properly in a lot of those scenes.
As expected, next week looks absolutely wonderful. I haven't had a proper look, but parts of it look like Tate with Manabe corrections. I can't imagine that's the case though. Will have a real look once I get my hands on an HD raw.
