- Why Mai is there in Super as Trunks' girlfriend. I'm not saying this because I'm an annoying fangirl or anything, and I actually like Mai a lot, but one, they really don't connect as lovers, and two, the whole "Trunks needs a love interest, so let's just bring back a female character in the most bullshit way possible, by making her younger and in the future timeline" is really, really dumb and has a lot of plot holes. Personally, I think she would fit Yamcha more, they have more of a connection as older Dragon Ball characters.

- How Super throws away all the other characters, other than Goku and Vegeta. (Trunks also, but he's a slight exception, because of the Black Goku arc.) Even Gohan is a shit character, and he was once a really important character. (And he's one of my favorites.)

(Super in general. I tried to enjoy it, I really did.)
Trunks: These androids are ruthless, they delight in causing pain and chaos.
Living on Earth in my time is like living in a nightmare. Always running and hiding and looking for a way out.

Trunks: I can't find hope in the present, but if I change the past can I find hope for the future?

Android 18: Ugh! I hate you!
Trunks: You hate the fact that you're powerless to stop me. That you're completely outmatched. Well imagine feeling what you do now all of the time like the people of this planet do. Fools! How do you think my master Gohan felt when you ganged up on him in the rain and he had no way out? Well, now it's your turn, I hope you enjoy it.

Trunks: Gohan, why'd you have to do it, why'd you have to leave me? It's not fair! Oh gosh no... what did they do to you Gohan? You were my best friend, you were everything to me... everything! This just isn't fair! Gohan, Gohan, GOHAN!

That's not a connection. They never even interacted in DB to my recollection.

Pretty sure they met in episode 12. Remember their escape attempt? Mai held Bulma at gunpoint.

Not seeing the bullshit there, the pilaf gang wished for youth before Piccolo died, where's the bullshit?

For all of a few seconds? That's their big connection?

I dont see people who read the comics as the sort who largely only saw the FUNi dub.

I have an issue with people who grew up (or maybe didnt) with the FUNi dub (or other dubs, frankly), then maybe saw the subs & more-or-less quit enjoying the dub simply because it was far more convenient to just watch the Japanese version, & often pirated. & then started bashing the very work that got them into it. Yes, the DB dubs werent great representations of the story (& of course, they couldve been better). Yes, none of the dubs would be made if the Japanese version didnt exist.

But I dont think that the vast majority of fans who enjoy the show today would even be here if the show came on in 1999 with either subs or even just an accurate dub with an intact OST.

The show was made by & entirely for Japanese people...& that isnt a problem, but the fact that anime has a pretty damn big niche in the West, yet it almost never airs on TV & is only restricted to DVD's & internet streaming...could use a serious improvement. The people who work on dubs, especially a massive flippin' show like Dragon Ball, deserve far, far better treatment. Yes, DB is Japanese...but are the Sonic the Hedgehog Hollywood cartoons worse than the SonicX anime? I think most folks would disagree.

Dragon Ball, specifically, was good enough of a show that Toei themselves should have done a proper English version early on, & especially today with Super. WB, Disney. & Sony dub their works with lavish amounts of cash, & in fact many of Dragon Ball's cast members work on these dubs. They are televised in primetime IIRC & WB makes good money off them. Surely Dragon Ball deserves a similar treatment, considering that it is hugely popular in the West, & Toei benefits from a pretty big share of that.

I can't agree with that notion. Various dubs across the globe found success remaining faithful to the original edition of Dragon Ball. Just because, say Portugal, found success going against the grain doesn't mean that it wouldn't find success otherwise. As for your ultimate point, I may be reading you incorrectly, but it sounds like you're stating foreign dubs deserve respect because they introduce us to a product. They should still be judged by their own merit, I believe. Of course, unwarranted vitriol towards the teams that produce dubs are inappropriate. That doesn't exactly mean proper words of criticism are disallowed. If it happened to be a poor product, no amount of hard work performed could excuse that. Nothing is perfect in this world, I'm afraid. That means that you'll eventually run into something lackluster despite the effort poured into it.

Me neither. I might be able to believe it if Dragon Ball didn't do as well as it did in certain countries with accurate dubs. And I know it gets repetitive when people use this example, but look at Latin Americans. They've literally got one of the most accurate dubs out there and the franchise is 400x bigger over there than it is here.

When people say Funimation's Dragon Ball Z dub is a masterpiece.

Meh, I disagree. I think there was little improvement. The only voices that sounded really good to me were Cell, 17, 18, 20, Mr. Satan, Adult Gohan, Dabura, Babidi and Super Buu. With Kai, Funimation really stepped up their game, although their dub isn't flawless.

Fanboys who look at you like you're crazy for having any standards that a product has to meet that go beyond "its for the fans, it exists, therefore you should like it!".
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

"Bebi."

This is genuinely the only name thing that gets to me, because it's always used by fans who don't go for other transliterations, and are clearly just too embarrassed to own up to one of the major villains being named "Baby."

Also, recently, this meme that transformations without full explanations or build-up in a series like Dragon Ball are p r o b l e m s.

Few random ones:

- How childish some fans act when Super doesn't air for a week. "ew, no ep this week bcoz of that stupid women marathon". "No ep because of Olympics? Who gives a shit about the olympics? blah blah *insert racist Brazilian joke*". I mean, sure, it can be frustrating, but they are basically whining like 7 year olds because important international events are replacing their favourite cartoon show for a week.

- "cannon".

- "Frieza". Can we have the word filter back?

-Yamamuro's character designs. Even the colour palette has grown on me but I don't think I'll ever like those jaws, noses and eyebrows.

And when my mother finds me investing my precious time trying to bond with this hot anime girl, I'll look straight into her eyes and say "but have you looked at the menu screen? have you actually seen the menu screen? In that very moment, she knows. She fucking knows. As she handles me the nugget pieces she previously cooked for me, she leaves my room with these words: "Persona 5 is the true savior of the JRPG".

People do that with everything. They don't want to miss out on their favorite show for a week because something they don't care about is airing instead. It's human nature.

People who use "Black Goku" instead of "Goku Black" -- I shouldn't have a problem with this since it's just a switch around but goddammit I do.

1) People who ignore others just out of lapse. :lolno:

2) Having family who treat you like a stranger. :problem:

3) Since the day I was born as an accident, waking up everyday to the shenanigans of people who act like if they were the children of Frieza and Beerus...
