Was Toriyama Inspired By Xicor From AF?

Post by Yomi » Tue Oct 18, 2016 6:28 am

I'm going to be getting into some 64-65 spoilers.

After thinking about Merged Zamasu, I couldn't help but think about Xicor. The similarities are striking.

For those who don't know, in Toyataro's AF manga, Xicor is the son of Goku and the Western Supreme Kai.
Which means, he's half Goku and Half Kaio-shin.

And Merged Zamasu is a fusion between Goku and a Kaioshin.

Is it possible that Toyataro may have influenced, or guided Toriyama in the creation of this arc's antagonist?
And if Toyataro really did provide a basic idea, did Toriyama's influence make this Half Goku/Half Kaioshin idea more sensible
and believable than Toyataro's version? Who handled this idea better?

It could have also been an idea from Toyo, since AT did say he discusses future ideas with him and Toei. I'm sure the evil Kai idea came from those discussions

Surely those who approached Toyotaro for the job would know of his AF work and thus Xicor and all that stuff. Obviously they also saw Kanzenshuu' 2004 AF prank and decided to combine the two concepts and suggest that to Toriyama :P

Jokes asise I really would like to know, if they really were inspired by Toyble's AF or if it is just coincidental.
But since it's apparently a no no to discuss Toyotaro's past it seems unlikely we will know.

That's a good point, I've always had this opinion on the back of my mind since the reveal of Black Goku.

Considering Xicor was sealed with the Kai Kai Shin Fuuba and Goku learned the Mafuuba ...

The fusion could even have a name that can be written similair to "Zaiko", even if not completely. Like Zakku for example. Though I prefer Black Zamas.

Also I hate what Xicor looks like. I hope the fusion looks better.

I think it was, Toriyama did say Toyotaro may help with ideas in the future and I'm sure Toyotaro applied for the job via his AF manga. Toei/Shueisha had to at least know about it if Toriyama doesn't. I think Black having a connection to Goku, Kaioshin, the sealings and all that are far to many tell-tales to be a coincidence. Even though we have no hardcore proof that Black was inspired from Xicor, I think a lot of Pro-Toriyama people would like to bury this since it's essentially a fan-made idea becoming official if it was true.

Toyable didn't create Xicor. Xicor has been on the web for years before his AF manga. Not to mention his design is based on old fan art too.

That make on sense since Black's name isn't Black or Goku Black. That is just a nickname given to him but Future Bulma. He calls himself 'Son Goku' or Zamasu.

Goku barely took a backseat in the Buu saga, at best he took a leisurely stroll round back while everyone else cried for him to come back.
How: The West Kaioshin took a sample of Goku's blood, after she drugged him. It is not elaborated on how she conceived Xicor with the blood.
Why: Goku beat Freeza, the strongest person in the world and West Kaioshin's son. Feeling that now Freeza had been surpassef, she had no more need for him and so she went after the guy, who took the throne as the strongest in the universe. Her real goal is to rule the universe, as she thought Kaioshin were supposed to be the rulers, but they lacked the power, as shown with the Majin Buu incident.
Thanks for the explanation. Cannot say I like that backstory  , but I definitely can see the similarities with Zamas and Black
