Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
I don't get it at all, weren't the new outfits supposed to symbolize something new? A new journey? Why did we have to go back to the old ones? Don't get me wrong I love the old ones but I don't quite understand why we had to go back to them when the RoF outfits are more newer looking-ish. If they were going to ditch them I wonder why they used them in the Champa arc... Maybe to represent Whis? I wonder if we'll ever see them again or even get a new outfit for that matter. This arc is the best one yet in Super, you'd think they'd kept the newer outfits.

While I was curious to see Goku and Vegeta using SSB in their normal outfits, I agree, I was a bit disappointed when they switched from their RoF outfits. I loved those.

Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
I think we ALL miss them. Also Vegeta's new outfit was a gift from Bulma, and he just ditched it. What a dick.
Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
Maybe they're going to switch between them and the old ones in each arc so the next one will have the RF outfits while the one after that will have the old ones.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
I think it is more that they are known with those outfits and it is some kind of their own trademark so they decided to let them wear those again.

1. Toriyama felt like it.
2. Bandai wanted to sell new merchandise.
3. Hatano Morio felt like it.
It could be either one.

Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
I think they presented them as Whis' students, since when Whis applied his logo to them. Currently, Whis isn't training them anymore (Goku asked Whis to train him to better fight Black, but he refused), so they have no reason to wear the outfits with Whis' logo now.
Goku using the Turtle logo instead is due to the deeper bond he had with his old master... IMHO.

Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
I miss those outfits so much! They were one of the few things I liked about F.
All I can do is hope they come back next arc.
I put my guess behind the "merchandising" one, but couldn't they have been less lazy and created even more new outfits if that's the case?

On hiatus.

I suppose there is a good chance for the outfits to return for the tournament.

Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
So bored with them being back in their old outfits, wish they'd kept the new ones. I can understand that since those were signed by Whis when he was training them that gives them an association with him, but can't they just erase those marks in that case? BAM, Bulma has some super-duper cleaning solution that can even erase divine permanent marker! What's so hard about that?
Not to mention that I still hate how Super Saiyan Blue clashes with the other shades of blue in both Gokuu and Vegeta's outfits. Granted, I'm getting more used to it the more I see it, but everyone once in a while I'll catch myself thinking, "man, that's really fucking ugly!"
Also, in the beginning we got some fun casual clothes Vegeta stuff. Now he's wearing armor 24/7. At least Gokuu gets the farmer outfit back on occasion, but Veggie apparently has to be ready for battle at all times

Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
I'm not sure why they would have to erase them anyway (not an attack on your solution, just branching my response with it). Goku proudly displayed he was the student of Turtle Hermit & North Kaio. Where's the foul in representing Whis? Vegeta's situation is especially odd. Bluma constructed new clothes and armor for him. Why would he revert to inferior models? It's all strange no matter how you slice it. Those outfits signified growth and now they're gone.
Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
I would rather see him finally using either the last chapters outfit or the GT one.

Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
As would I, but we're not quite at that point of the story yet. At the very least, Vegeta should be wearing gym clothes as his casual wear. It amounts to nothing, but the minor details are appreciated. That reminds me that Goku gave up his undershirt with his new design. This transitions well into the ending of Dragon Ball, where he continues this.
Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
I would like Vegeta to wear more casual stuff like that one leather jacket or what he wore when he and Bulma were on that one trip. But yes, his blue gym outfit.

I thought they were ugly as fuck. I'm glad there gone. But I do wish Vegeta would go back to his Boo arc outfit.

Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
Aw yeah, Vegeta in leather, that's what we need to see again (both the jacket at the end of the series and dem tight pants in GT were
)
And I personally don't think Whis' logo is a problem either, but maybe in the minds of the creative team it represented a set moment in time, so they wanted to "move forward"...by putting them back in the same outfits we've seen for 20+ years
Really, I have no clue what their reasoning was, and I'll be massively disappointed if they never change outfits again (at least in the Super manga, we got some casual Vegeta recently...where's that in the anime?)

Re: Why did they ditch the RoF outfits?
I like the old outfits better.
mainly, I really didn't like Goku's new boots in the RoF arc. and I didn't like how Vegeta's grey armour had all those lines on it. also it made him look skinnier. the colour scheme of it probably did go better with SSJB overall, though.

He's not using the Turtle kanji. He's using his own 悟 (Go).Gig wrote:Goku using the Turtle logo instead is due to the deeper bond he had with his old master... IMHO.
