Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Why are the ratings dropping for all these top shows?
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Because most people don't watch shows live anymore. This isn't the 90's or even early 2000's.
Nobody watches shows live when they can catch them later online or use VCR's.

See what I mean? Don't get your hopes up for it to surpass One Piece when it never has and most likely never will. They had the same rating last week, that wasn't any indication that one was beating the other. I think we should just respect both shows and focus on how Super's ratings are on it's own instead of focusing on it beating One Piece.

I haven't seen anyone on here even say anything like that or anything close to that.VejituhTheWarriorGuy wrote:See what I mean? Then you must be looking in a totally different thread because practically everyone in this thread has been hoping for it.Sonicjamareiz wrote:I haven't seen anyone on here even say anything like that or anything close to that.VejituhTheWarriorGuy wrote:See what I mean? The best way to predict ratings is to look at how awesome the episode before was. We talked about Episode 61 a lot because of how good it was. It's not unlikely that the same happened in Japan, which made more people tune in to Episode 62. Because of the way Episode 62 slowed down a bit, we should expect that some people were "turned off", so there'll be a lower rating for Episode 63. But if the action is consistent in 63, 64 and 65, the ratings will probably reflect that.
Not to toot my own horn, but it looks like I wasn't all that wrong. Even though Episode 63 was plenty "awesome", it saw a decrease to 5.7, and we dropped back down to being below One Piece. If Episode 64's ratings now turn out great (i.e there's an increase), I'll know if I'm actually onto something here. If not, well, that's fine too.Alruneia wrote: Let me show you why I came up with the theory.
Episode 57 had 6.8, a pretty great rating. However, the battle in the future ends and Goku and co. retreat to the present at the end of the episode.
Episode 58 only saw a minor decrease to 6.4, however. Even though Episode 58 was a relatively boring exposition episode in the present, it retained a good rating because of the amount of action Episode 57 had. If the previous episode's action did not matter, this episode's rating would be lower. However, the fact that it was an exposition episode is reflected in Episode 59's rating.
Episode 59 saw another decrease, down to 5.9. This episode was also exposition-heavy and action-lacking, even though it had the "Hakai" moment for Beerus, and that, in turn, affected Episode 60's rating.
Episode 60 got as (relatively) little as 5.0, even though Goku and co. return to the future and the action starts up again in the second half of the episode. However, the fact that they do return to the future, and that the action starts up again at the end, affects Episode 61's rating.
Episode 61 got a 6.0 because viewers knew that the action had started up again due to the end of Episode 60. The action remained through the entire episode, even ending with Trunks powering up into some odd form. This affected Episode 62's rating positively.
Episode 62 got a 6.2 because of 61's action, even though they left for the present again early in the episode, slowing the arc down once more. If the previous episode's action didn't matter to the episode's rating, Episode 62 would not have 6.2, but be below 6 instead.
The way I'm able to point to action (which I in the first post called "awesome", unprofessionally enough) in the previous episode and explain rating increases and decreases based on it is why I came up with the theory. Of course, it's far from a perfect theory, but I haven't seen a different theory that "outpredicts" this one yet.
Don't be too surprised if there's a decrease in ratings from Episode 62 to Episode 63.

They had the same rating last week, one didn't beat the other. Super was just above One Piece on the ratings chart for that week because it's on before OP but they had the same ratings share but people will of course take that out of context.Pannaliciour wrote:Hmm i read somewhere that dbs has beat one peace, guess it was not true.

Yeah it's not beating One Piece but it has at least stayed consistent since airing and that's what's important.
One Piece's ratings have really dropped though. A sub 7.0 is awful for this series and it's happened multiple times now.

Man, I really thought the momentum from the last episode would carry on into next week, but it sure as hell didn't. What a shame.

I am pretty sure that the reason is that awful Zoo arc. Once the Sanji stuff start the ratings will improve. Actually 7 for such a garbage arc is pretty high and shows that op fans support everything Oda makesBullza wrote:Yeah it's not beating One Piece but it has at least stayed consistent since airing and that's what's important.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Zou is a good arc, in the manga at least. I think One Piece might be in for a drop until the current arc(of the manga) reaches it's boiling point, which going by the current rhythm it might take over one year to happen.
People get fatigued and it hurts when you sideline main characters for months on end (Sanji and his group in Dressrosa arc).
I didn't believe Super could tie with One Piece, if that happened it can certainly surpass it on the current arc big episodes, Vegetto return might do it...

Well, I'm a One Piece fan and I have expressed my disdain for Skypiea and Dressrosa many times before so you're generalizing.Mazingerdestro wrote:I am pretty sure that the reason is that awful Zoo arc.
