Does Black only get stronger from fighting Goku?

As the title says..
Black keeps mentioning Goku, Goku, Goku, Goku. And how his power level will increase from fighting him specifically. especially the whole copying techniques thing. Like there are many hints pointing towards Black only being able to copy Goku's fighting style, and not someone else's. (Because he litterally has his body) and when Vegeta beat him up this episode, he didn't even seem to instantly power up at all. He stayed the same. damaged. Although on the other hand, in episode 61 of Super Black said: "A saiyans body is the ultimate blessing. The more it gets beaten up, the more it's power rises". Yet ironically that was after he got beaten down by Goku.

So what are your thoughts? Can he only get stronger and copy the fighting style from Goku? Or does that include everyone else that damages him?

Considering the fact, Vegeta beat up Black and he stayed damaged, without getting a power up, I would say yes, he only gets stronger from fighting Goku.

They would have to be almost at equal power for the zenkai to be noticeable, so maybe the gap between Black and Vegeta's power was so great that Black's zenkai didn't matter. Vegeta must have achieved something special while training, because even SSB Goku and Vegeta training together didn't destroy the room of spirit and time.

No he's not. It was stated that he develops a new technique. But that Vegeta was still in control of pretty much the whole fight. That is until they fuse ofcourse.

The only other possible scenarios that would allow for a zenkai are when Trunks and then later Vegeta overwhelm Black in this recent episode. It doesn't make sense for the zenkais to be limited only to encounters with Goku. He simply never encountered anyone powerful enough to provide him with one apart from the Saiyans and Beerus is much too powerful for him to survive an encounter against. About the only non-Saiyan available who could possibly offer him with an adequate but not too overwhelming challenge is Future Zamasu.

You're right. He even confirmed it afterwards. And i believe Trunks mentioned at the beginning of this arc that Black kept powering up each time they fought too.
