Repeated frames were used a lot in Dragon Ball Z , why? Because simply it worked and it was cheap of course. You felt the intensity and struggle and the weight of 2 opponents going at each other. Super is heavily missing such feat. As Ajay pointed out, nothing wrong with flurry loops, just as long as they're not the only thing the action is comprised of. Of course only having repeated animation is dull and boring to watch. The fights in Super feels so downgraded the sense of speed , weigh behind action , destruction feel way less then it's predecessor.

Imagine Goku and Black going at each other just like that we all know Super feels substantially sloppier compared to this .

Also compared to the old art. In this new art characters feel too shinny and plastic.

This episode was very uneven. Some parts looked good, while other parts just looked below par. I really don't know what to make of it. The NEP looks very promising, to say the least.

This episode definitely wasn't too bad, but I'm still kind of disappointed that nothing noteworthy was had. There wasn't much that was noticeably Karasawa, so maybe he's working on the climax? Hopefully next week's episode will blow my mind, though.

Episode 64

Animation Supervisors
Yashima Yoshitaka Sakai Hiroyuki

Key Animators
Yashima Yoshitaka Higashide Futoshi Nikaido Atsushi Tezuka Emi Studio Myu TAP

2nd Key Animators
Tsuji Miyako Sakai Hiroyuki Sato Tomoko Yokoyama Miyuki

-

That was pretty bad. I feel sorry for everyone involved in correcting that episode. Pretty much zero animation, too. Oh well, I half expected it just based on the preview.

No Karasawa, so at least he wasn't wasted. Instead, we had Yashima paired up with Hiroyuki Sakai who's been a key animator on and off on Super since the very beginning. Not a whole lot to comment on yet.

Next week didn't really show much off, either. The one cool explosion was from episode 47, I'm pretty sure. Will double check, but 99% sure that's the case.

C'mon Super. Gimme the good stuff again!

Karasawa is one of my favourites AP and King Ryu wrote this one. It should be good.
Never mind. The only scene I liked was Black's scythe.

Oh so that's how it was?! Newtype was wrong and maybe Karasawa will pop up after Tate then.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Yowza, what an awful episode. I wish Yashima had just done it all alone or at least we didn't have to draw Higashide into this mess. My anger towards Morishita grows with every day.

Seems to me they were saving all their marquee talent for Zamasu/Black fused and for when Goku and Vegeta fuse. Those are the episode that will sell this arc.

On the bright side though, this shows how much Super has improved for this episode to be considered bad. Especially for it also being back to back from another Yashima episode.

I'm guessing 65 will be Karasawa and 66 Tate, based off the fact that the NEP looked a lot more like Karasawa than Tate.

This arc was already sold when an evil Goku appeared.

But seeing Gogeta again, especially with a new form, will drawn in people for more than the concept of evil Goku.

wow, you guys made it seem way worse than it was. I guess that's a testament to how much better Super has gotten. I think the fight scene with Vegeta in the beginning was actually pretty good.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

agreed i mean there was a lot of padding in this episode and mostly talking so having some off model shots is no big deal and the fight scene between black and vegeta was good

Tate is in the preview -- or at least, they've reused his cut from 47 as I thought:

Outside of that, I'm not really seeing anything that looks like him.

There's a girl in the background of a shot with Tate's hand-pose, and one frame of Trunks that could have been corrected by Ishikawa, but yeah, nothing concrete.

Looking back on the NEP it's kinda hard to tell who it will be. The Trunks flying shot looks like Tate but the face looks corrected, and the last Goku shot does look more reminiscent to Ishikawa than Karasawa.
