Bruh, y'all got one of the most faithful dubs of the franchise out there. Plus, it's kinda fun to see how other countries interpreted the seriesgregoryluis09 wrote: It's nice to see foreign people interested in our dub, now it's 20 minutes to start.

Looks like it's Saint Seiya first, then DBZ.

I've heard some things about it. I've always wondered, why did it do so well over there? I wish we had gotten the same thing.gregoryluis09 wrote: You should watch it, it's very good.

Re: Dragon Ball Z to air on Rede Brasil in October
I have an explanation as to why Saint Seiya flopped in the USA.
Four Words:KNIGHTS OF THE ZODIAC. The terrible dub made by DiC. Terrible dubs have a way to ruin shows for People. Only One Piece managed to survive the massive character assasination that was the 4kids dub.
Well, THAT and the fact that it aired way too late for it to make a dent. The animation is dated and it was just too violent.

I think the airing was good, the only problems were the 16:9 crop and the lack of the NEP.Bansho64 wrote:What'd y'all think of it?

I hope DBZ and Saint Seiya will get a decent reading on the Nielsen Ratings! Check IBOPE BRASIL!

Re: Dragon Ball Z to air on Rede Brasil in October
I ended up watching Episode 1 via other means, so here's my opinion on the voices of the characters introduced in the first episode.
Daoiz Cabezudo as the Narrator: I get a Joji Yanami vibe from him. Sounds like a grandfather reading a story to his grandchild. Very good voice.
Raquel Marinho as Chi Chi: Sounds like a mix of Naoko Watanabe and Cynthia Cranz to me. A good voice, but I prefer the Japanese voices
Wendel Bezerra as Son Goku: Gives Goku a youthful quality to his voice. His yells are a bit weak, but then again this is just the first episode. Just as good as Masako Nozawa to me.
Wellington Lima as Raditz: An evil sounding voice that sounds similar enough to Shigeru Chiba. I like it.
Fatima Noya as Son Gohan: This one will take a bit to get used to. Not as adorable sounding as Nozawa & Clinkenbeard in Kai, but better than Stephanie Nadolny's version at least. The screaming and crying grated on my nerves a bit.
Leonardo Camilo as Piccolo: The second weakest voice in the batch. He to me sounded like a weaker version of Sabat, but if not mistaken his voice changes pretty early on, so no need to complain much about this one.
Farmer with a Shotgun's voice was funny as well.

Don't worry, he will get better as the series progresses.DB_Fan1991 wrote:Wendel Bezerra as Son Goku: Gives Goku a youthful quality to his voice. His yells are a bit weak, but then again this is just the first episode. Just as good as Masako Nozawa to me.
Wellington Lima is like the Chris Sabat of the Brazilian dub, he voices MANY characters, the ones i remember now are: Raditz, Bardock, Tao Pai Pai, Majin Buu (all forms), a random farmer in BOG and the productor of the Tournament in DBZ movie 9.DB_Fan1991 wrote:Wellington Lima as Raditz: An evil sounding voice that sounds similar enough to Shigeru Chiba. Raquel Marinho as Chi-Chi is one of my favorite voices in this dub. In the 1st episode we can't see it, but she does very well the histerical and funny moments Chichi has with Gohan's studies and stuff for example.DB_Fan1991 wrote:I ended up watching Episode 1 via other means, so here's my opinion on the voices of the characters introduced in the first episode.

Wendel Bezerra's yells are not great all the time in Saiyan and Freeza sagas. However, he really gives the character a childish and lamblike spirit as Nozawa does.
Fátima Noya was kind annoying as Kid Gohan sometimes, but she becames better as the series goes.
Leonardo Camilo had some health problems when the dub started. In the 7th episode he was replaced by Luiz Antônio Lobue, that dubbed Piccolo in most media for brazilian dubs after that.
