I'd say that Goku finally winning the Tenkaichi Budokai, saving the world from Piccolo and finding his love is one of the best and most satisfying endings by even modern day standards. Compare this to Naruto and Bleach who had dragged on for too long and paid the price.

That's my favorite, but there's more:
1. Gohan finally snapping and saving the universe, Goku passing the torch to the next generation, Trunks saving his future, Piccolo reuniting with God. Everyone living in peace ever after (Until Buu and Black show up that is  ).
2. Goku saving the earth one more time, truly becoming number one (Not in power, sheesh), Vegeta opening up and admitting it, Gohan becoming a successful scholar and getting married. Goku finally becomes a master himself after studying under so many teachers.

I need to watch dragonball again but DBZ had a ton of great endings. Cell saga had an amazing father son moment, Freeza saga showed how irredeemable Freeza was which added to his character plus he got beat by what he feared most, Boo saga had everyone chipping in for a final attack. Goku's pose while sending that spirit bomb to kid boo is so iconic imo.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Those are great endings in fact, but none of them surpass what it was the last episode of Dragon Ball GT, it really felt like the series ending forever to me

GT's ending was beautiful -- especially if you looked deep into it. I doubt Super could compare, but that's just me.

I loved GT's ending but I didn't completely get what what was happening to Goku towards the end. Why did he have to go with Shenron?

I kind of like the theory that he and Shenron made a deal with each other and, in exchange for one more wish from Shenron, Goku would give his body as a vessel for the Dragon Balls until they're purified and are ready to be used again in the future.

That's a good theory but do you have an explanation for why he had to leave everything behind to do that?

Toyotaro, back when he was Toyble, actually made a short omake showing what went down after Goku took in Omega Shenron's attack and was laid out for awhile.

With all the pieces together it's a pretty great ending (not that I didn't know that before), but I wish they explained it better in the actual anime. It would have been even better that way.

Nozawa mentioned an interview that she was glad that the writers didn't flat out say that Goku died and she personally believed Goku was training at Shenron's place. I'd have to agree with her, since it leaves the ending for interpretation. It also left some emotion, since I felt sad knowing we'd probably never see Goku again. Even saying "it's not canon" didn't work because the damage was done.

I don't like when endings are left for interpretation or are open ended to be honest. But I'll give GT a pass for the emotional farewells.

I see what you mean, since there'd be times where I really wanted to know Goku's fate, but there'd also be times where I'd feel contempt for the ending.

I'm not expecting a good ending as well, the last good ending was Goku's monkey fist against King Piccolo and thats it.

I didn't like GT's ending, but I didn't like how they never wished Gokû back to adulthood either.

Not trying to shove my own opinion down others throats, but how could anyone not like the 23rd Budokai ending?
It fulfilled all the character arcs for the major characters; Goku finally became the best on earth, got married to Chi-Chi, Roshi claims that all his students had surpassed the master, God is impressed by Goku and even offers him his position and is relieved that there is someone who can actually put Piccolo at bay. Piccolo tastes defeat but gains the respect of Goku, who considers him to be his rival (sort of).
The ending of the Piccolo Daimao arc was literally Goku avenging Kuririn and Roshi's deaths, that's all.

I don't think Herms decided if it's real or not, but he translated it anyway. Take it with a grain of salt for now, just in case.

(Reminder: You don't necessarily need to use spoiler tags after this. I'm only doing it because of the image's size.)
