I have a feeling something crazy will happen by the end of this arc

Post by Lujin_16 » Mon Oct 31, 2016 5:54 pm

I find it weird that Beerus is not there with Gowasu & Kaioshin, and I don't think Beerus told the Kaioshin to go there. It would be dumb, since Beerus will die if Kaioshin dies.
In Episode 63 they confirmed that Whis is an angel, but why now? Because something will happen?
Maybe something will happen that will led us to a later arc.

I have wondered about this. In the same arc the concept of gods of destruction being linked to the Kaioshin is introduced, along with angels being linked to the gods of destruction accordingly, and in the same arc in which Beerus earlier displayed great reservations about the Kaioshin going to Zeno's unattended, Kaioshin has brought himself to a battlefield where five (now four) of the strongest beings in existence are going at it, and opted to stay despite Goku and Vegeta's warnings.

It all seems like setup for something to happen, but at the same time, I'm not sure how much that could really add to the plot when Beerus' revival is just a wish on the Dragon Balls away. I could see it either leading to something or not, as most of those elements already serve a purpose in explaining how Black and Zamasu's plans went off without a hitch, or simply adding a bit of tension and characterization for Kaioshin.

If this was GT then yes, I would agree. Seeing how things have played out so far I really doubt someone important will die or something too major will happen.

GT wasn't afraid of twisting the characters around and playing with them. Like killing Piccolo or making him have a death match against Gohan, or Buu's sacrifice. Things like that.

Super lacks the impact and the will to be able to pull off something like this. Well, we can always have another laughable scene like Piccolo's death protecting Gohan or something like that.

Really? Was GT like that? Because I don't remember anyone dying dramatically in GT. Piccolo died but yes he also died in Super. The difference is that in GT they had nothing to do with Piccolo so they didn't even want to keep him as a background character. Instead Super brought him back.

Buu was never sacrificed. He merged with Uub and later we see that he is actually alive inside Uub and he can even control him. You can't call some people merging, death. Especially when they didn't even create something new. It is just them combining to the original Buu from Z.

In general db series don't keep people dead because of dragonballs. Additionally, I don't know if a death would change anything in the story because they can always bring them back. Sealing or torturing someone in Db makes more of an impact. For example Black killing Chichi and Goten and then stabbing Goku was a great scene that in general GT as a whole lacks.

The most dramatic moment for me in GT was Baby, which was immediately covered by SSJ4 so again I never felt that the enemies that they were fighting were a big deal. Even omega wasn't something special. For example I can't compare omega to black. Black is ruthless and can do anything. Omega wasn't even that bad.

The only character I do like from GT was Nova because he was an actual character.

There´s not much they can do with characters that we know are alive by the manga´s epilogue.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Yes thank you which is why all this GT comparisons lately is stupid and unfair to both. Both series being a sequel is where comparisons should end, they're both set out to achieve different things, Super hadn't erased GT (yet) Super is supposed to inspire a new generation and revive the franchsie, GT was set to continue the franchise. Plus Super has been plagued with production problems etc Plus Super has original creator on board to draft, GT didnt have that luxury.

We still have new characters like Beerus and Whis to play around. And I don't think Toriyama cares about EOZ at this point, but let's see.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

All those done in terrible, pathetic and forced ways.
Piccolo "sacrificed" himself like three times in a row - he didn't even need to die, to begin - and the Buu merging (not sacrifice) thing came out of nowhere and served no purpose. Not to mention it had no impact whatsoever when all those characters had so little screentime. I can't believe you're calling the terrible and short Gohan vs Piccolo a "death match", lol.

Piccolo dying to protect Gohan again was far more terrible, atleast his sacrifice in GT served a purpose, worked as a climax to his character and didn't bring him back.

Dying to Frieza was a nonsense callback to Nappa days. That's the one Super thing that was forced the most imo

They revealed that so the Whis in the future wouldn't be able to help them, since Beerus is dead.

I believe this is the point in revealing all of this information. To show why Beerus and Whis aren't in this timeline, not that anything will happen to the MT Kaioshin or God of Destruction.

I wouldn't mind characters dying and then coming back sometime later if the event itself had impact and was well done, I mean, it's Dragon Ball, but we haven't had something like that in Super.
Zamasu killing ChiChi was good though.

That too.

I agree that Buu merging with Uub served no purpose, but the even itself was extremely well presented. Piccolo's sacrifice too.
Gohan vs Piccolo was short, but it is a nice and different kind of character interaction whose consequences carried onto future episodes.

Something like thisdefinitely is a well done scene.

Can't recall a moment as impactul or heavy in Super.

I have a feeling something crazy will happen by the end of this arc, too.

They'll actually keep making episodes.

In all seriousness, I highly doubt they'll do anything to seriously break the status quo of "Goku and Vegeta Show: Featuring Whatever Nostalgic Element We're Pushing This Time."
Super Saiyan Blue is not a creative color.
DBZ Movie 3 told a stronger and more believable "Evil Goku" story in 60 minutes than Dragon Ball Super has in 20 episodes. And it did it with better visuals and score.
