Do you think there's anything else from this episode worth putting there, like Trunks sword fight?Ajay wrote:Here's Shida's cut:

It's more like 60 seconds long, but the booru prefers if you cut out stills and whatnot, so I trimmed it a little.

It was lovely seeing Shida Naotoshi again. I hope he will be able to work on another big episode, soon.

I get the feeling he'll be showing up for big fights well into the future, probably with a minimum of 9 weeks between episodes.JulieYBM wrote:It was lovely seeing Shida Naotoshi again. I hope he will be able to work on another big episode, soon.

Godly animation aside, it was nice to see some Z-style faces especially before Goku and Vegeta fused.

Speaking of faces, I just rewatched the NEP and all the art looked totally fine, so why on earth did they pick that bad Kitano shot for the preview image on the Fuji TV website?

God, what a magnificent cut. It's even better than what he did in EP57.Ajay wrote:Here's Shida's cut:

Wow, that was amazing. There was nearly no undetailed shots, and all of the animation was fluid. I'm on the boat of best animated Super episode.
So is Shida essentially a Tate 2.0 of sorts? They both have very fluid cuts, albeit Tate's are loosely-modeled.

Well that was an absolutely fantastic episode.
Shimanuki, although not doing much in the way of actual animation, felt like his presence was visible throughout the entire episode. Also Tate did a couple of sequences, most noteably Trunks forming his energy sword as well as (maybe) him gathering energy before he completes the spirit sword.
In total I think their were roughly three noteable cuts.
The Shida Cut (which actually looked like his normal input).
(Presumed) Ken Otsuka's clash between Trunks and Zamasu when he first forms the energy sword and saves Goku and Vegeta.
Thirdly(presumed) Ken Otsuka, where at the end of the episode Trunks forms his giant spirit sword and charges at Zamasu, up to the point he impales him.
Overall a fantastic episode (in terms of animation) and probably my favourite (in terms of animation) in this arc.

This has definitely got to be in the top 10 of all of dragonball when it comes to pure animation.Anime Kitten wrote:Wow, that was amazing. There was nearly no undetailed shots, and all of the animation was fluid. I'm on the boat of best animated Super episode.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Otsuka apparently did everything from the Sword getting big to the end of the episode.JazzMazz wrote:#66

Shida Naotoshi knocked it out of the park as expected. I hope he shows up again later. But, Hatano Morio deserves all the credit this time man. His storyboard and directing was awesome and really made the climactic battle feel like a climactic battle something the previous arcs except the Kami to Kami arc finale(it was also done by Hatano Morio)failed to do.
The animators list has pretty much everyone. It was also nice to see Inaba Jin though I can't figure what he did. Arguably the best episode in the franchise and best episode of Super by a mile.
EDIT: Ootsuka Ken's part was also nice.

They're pretty much as opposite as you can get in terms of animation style. I'm not sure they're really comparable.Anime Kitten wrote:So is Shida essentially a Tate 2.0 of sorts? They both have very fluid cuts, albeit Tate's are loosely-modeled.
Shida's whole thing is pouring excessive detail into his art and moving the camera a lot. It's very fast, very chaotic, and not unlike the way western action films sometimes approach things.
Tate is the opposite. He prefers minimalist art with a focus on the movement within the frame rather than the camera itself. When he does use the camera, he quite often uses it to 'disconnect' it from the characters to enhance blows. It's quite hard to describe over text.
It already was the original size. The forum just scales it down to fit the width of your page. You can right click and open the image in a new tab for the full size.JulieYBM wrote:Original, full size available here.
The giant spirit sword is confirmed Otsuka, but the clash prior to that is somebody else. I actually just uploaded it:JazzMazz wrote: (Presumed) Ken Otsuka's clash between Trunks and Zamasu when he first forms the energy sword and saves Goku and Vegeta.

Someone guessed that it might be Miuma's, but I'm waiting on my 'Miuma expert' to get back to me.
In my opinion, the effects work looks a lot like Higashide's, but I have never seen him animate like this. He's usually much smoother like the work in the opening.

If that is Miuma I hope he joins Shida and Otsuka as the animators called in for the big episodes.

Ah, I see. Even so, his cut in this episode seemed to have extremely fluid characters, not unlike Tate. So he puts at least a moderate amount of effort into the frames. I do know what you mean with both animators in regards to the camera, though.Ajay wrote:*snip*

Another potentially noteable cut (maybe)?
I apoligise for the horrible quality. I think if we trimmed out a still frame or two, it could at least go on this topics noteable cut page.(The cuts did look better in the actual epsiode)
Part 1

Part two of same scene

Please consider for the noteable cuts part of this episode(I don't really expect to get onto sakugabooru though).

Shida spends an inordinate amount of time on his animation. So naturally, it's detailed.Anime Kitten wrote:Ah, I see.
