What do you see in the future of Dragonball?
What do you see happening to the Dragonball franchise in the future? Do you see any new series being produced? Maybe a re-release? A new movie? Maybe a live-action or CGI movie?
What would you like to see happen with the property?
Do you see Toei doing anything major with it? Or anything with the FUNi releases? Or someone entirly different taking over the NA releases.

I don't know the Japanese mentality on the subject, but there's still a ton of money that Toei could be making from the franchise.
I don't know how popular the series is right now in Japan (other than the recent boom of games and the dragon box singles being pretty popular), but if I were Toei, I would think about redoing everything Z. Maintain the same story, but get rid of the inconsistencies, get rid of the meaningless filler (keep the good filler?), *reanimate the entire series with one consistent, high-quality crew*.
The whole thing could definitely be condensed to something smaller and much better, and I would *think* people would be throwing money at the idea (I certainly would be). Definitely some wishful thinking there, though, because the window in which they could do something like this is rapidly closing as the voice actors age. I think that would be something pretty incredible.
A new movie or something is definitely overdue, too.

Hmm, let's think of franchizes that boomed in the '80's and '90's only to eventually have something biggish and different happen this decade.
TMNT comes to mind.
Superman comes to mind.
Batman?
I'm not sure if the other legions of comicbook movies really fit what I'm going with. Although if something based on the first 6 seasons of MMPR were to come out... the awesome would be pretty swell (Forever Red doesn't count... but this rumored 15th aniversery(How do you spell that?) episode might).
So there we have some US-side examples of old-but-lasting properties getting some kind of treatment that deviates from the old style while somehow preserving it (*shrugs*). I'm not sure if Dragonball fits the same way ... but considering the way people enter and exit the entertainment industry, I wouldn't be surprised if in the next ten years we get a cool thing or three.
Overall, though... hard to say. Pretty much everything has potential... for both awesome and GT-level BLUGH. So... take it as you will.

It would actually be kind of cool if a respectable American comic company got the rights to do some sort of "Elseworlds" Dragonball Z project. What-ifs are always good fun.

Well the video game things a definite and I had a cool idea for one of those where you get to have free roam in the Dragonball world.
What I'd like to see though something new from TOEI like another movie or TV special, for the 25th anniversary. That would be really cool.
I'm of two minds about the live action/CGI movie thing because although I want to see it happen, I want to be the one who gets to direct it! I know it's exceptionally unlikely ths could happen but hey, Peter Jackson never thought when he was riding on the train home reading the Lord of the Rings that he would end up directing that so who knows.
I already have a rough idea of how I would do it, involving using the manga as a base and sticking as close to the original story as reasonably possible.
So if they announced the live action movie tommorow I'd be happy but I'd also be a bit of "damn you, now I can't direct it!" and "please don't screw it up..."

I wouldn't be surprised if DBZ had an anniversary movie to celebrate 25 years of DB. They did it with DB for the 10-year anniversary. I'm actually hoping this will happen.
LIVE-ACTION:
I fear the possibility of a live-action show, since Sailor Moon got one, but I doubt (thankfully) that anything -movie or tv- would be live action.
MANGA:
I wouldn't be surprised if Toriyama did a one-shot or collection of one-shots for the 25th anniversary, or at the very least a cameo of Z characters in something else (new Neko Majin manga?).
I would LOVE it if an entire 43rd volume of the manga volume were made, but I doubt it wouldn happen.
ANIME SEQUELS+SPIN-OFFS:
I doubt any sequel series or spin-offs would happen, but if it did, I would prefer a sequel series starring Goku Jr and later into it Vegeta Jr. It would be the perfect return to basics that GT tried to be:
Goku Jr could be aspiring to be more like his great-great-grandfather after meeting him in the special, so he trains more seriously with Pan, looks for the DBs, etc. Right there we have two sagas: a DB quest, and a Budokai where he encounters Vegeta Jr. Since he's a weakling, we don't have the ugly dillemma that GT had with coming up with ways to create stronger and stronger villains and opponents. Hell, even Kuriiza could eventually become a main character!

I have hope that they will make another Dragonball series one day.
I just hope with usa and uk (not sure about the rest of the world as i've ever been) taking in Japanese culture that they won't take in our habit of remakes/retelling.
Live action film would be cool. Look at the 3rd matrix. Agent Smith vs Neo fight was very dbz , Superman returns shows how flying can look , it is very very possible and if done well could be incredible

Realistically I see a shit ton of videogames until the end of time, or until they stop selling, whichever comes first.
If we're lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) boys and girls some movie studio will finally get off its ass and make a live action movie for the US audience. Thats still a possibility. Quality of such a movie could be anything from phenomenally good (take a look at other comic adaptations such as the Spiderman trilogy, TMNT, ect to see how that can work), to utterly horrendous (see: Superman III & IV, X-Men III).
As for a new animation...I'd LOVE to see one. I'd REALLY like to think there's something new coming that I'll get to see new and not know what's going on in the animation before it comes (I foolishly read story synopses to the end of GT back in 1998 on a now defunct website called "DB/Z/GT" - The last "NEW" DB related thing I saw was the Dragon Ball stuff since said site didn't cover it much). But I've honestly given up hope on that.
The last major thing I'M honestly looking forward to is the eventual DBZ movie box set in the style of the season sets. I put off buying the movies when I figured this would come, because the Pioneer releases of movies 1-3 make me want to see the other movies dubbed + original score, and widescreen for the movies isnt bad (as they were designed for that).
I also would like to see a revitilization of the DB/Z toyline with rereleases and new releases of the characters that you just never see. I don't want another Goku reelease, but I could really use a re release of the tenshinhan and chaozu figures as I'd love to have those (and also Raditz since I never did buy that one). I really enjoyed some of the DBZ toy sculpts in the past and I'd like to, at least, have the core cast all in plastic form. That means I'd like to see a set including: Goku, Gohan, Chi chi, Goten, Trunks (chibi and adult), bulma, yamcha, tenshin, chaozu, Krillin, lunch, ect.

Somebody already bought the live movie license, the only article i found is on norwegian. http://www.filmweb.no/filmnytt/article58115.ece
What it says is that that Fox has start planning the Dragonball movie, but not much more. Since it is so old, i think they dropped the movie.

they say that but they keep buying rights to domain of movie. 2009 = 20th anniversary maybe it'll come out then or 2014 for 25th anniversary
<-- Awwe, I thought X-Men III was pretty well done considering what all they had to cover. Good adaptation, I don't know... good movie though, that's a maybe. -->
I've been pretty well convinced that the live action movie is just... up in the air... and we won't know until it actually happens if it ever will.
As for new animation... Recall Goku's guest appearance as a commentator in a certain tournament... I'd not be surprised if something, even if it isn't much, happened in the near future. Mayhaps Neko Majin OVA?
That and ... demand makes things happen. XD
